After listening to her debut album “Löwe“, it’s evident why LILY LOWE is being coined Norway’s new lady of rock. This young singer and songwriter – real name Lill Sofie Eriksson Wilsberg – has the voice, the looks and essentially, talent, to become a star.
The mastermind behind “Löwe” is Norway’s rock institution Trond Holter (Wig Wam, Dream Police, Jorn Lande etc.) who not only co-wrote the songs, but also is the musical director & producer, and play all over the record. In fact, most of Wig Wam members play on the album, alongside other Scandinavian renowned musicians.
But don’t lose the focus here: LILY LOWE is the star on the album: with her intense delivery of brazen vocals is sure to reign right alongside the most prominent rock artists to date. An she writes very good songs as well.
LILY LOWE was a contestant for Norway’s Eurovision this year with the great glammy hard rock tune ‘Bad Baby’ (included into the album) but if you think her music is bland you better listen to “Löwe” carefully. Having a song titled ‘Handsome Whore’ in the track list give you an idea this album isn’t ‘Eurovision saccharine’ at all. This rocks, hard.

Holter has provided a bright, crisp, rocking production for Lowe’s voice and he drops some killer riffs to boot, like on opener ‘Scream’ which while wrapped by a modern production it’s very classic rock. The kind of riff that worked in the Seventies, the Eighties, and today.

‘Bad Baby’ is the hit, catchy, infectious, with Lily showcasing why she grew up listening Guns N’ Roses and Motley crue. The glam metal ‘Daddy’s Type’ is probably the song that most reveals Holter’s involvement, because this could easily could be into any Wig Wam album. It’s almost like you get a little shocked when it’s not Åge Sten Nilsen who sings.
On “Run” Lily & Holter try something different, more modern and adding some electronics to the mix, but don’t be fooled, this album rocks.

“Löwe” is a catchy driving good debut album by this talented young woman, helped by a cast of top Scandinavian musicians. LILY LOWE is an artist we will certainly hear more about in years to come.

    Billy Sheehan: Bass
    Kire Najdovski: Guitar
    Mark Miller: Drums

Throw on 1985 and it only takes a few seconds of opening track "Inner Mounting Flame" to make it abundantly clear that Talas are back, and sounding every bit as good as in their heyday. Formed in the early 70s and dissolved in 1985, they may have never reached arena-headlining status but they were an integral part of the early 80s hard rock scene, and their long awaited return does not disappoint. "The time was right and we were all into it, no one needed any convincing, we were all instantly excited to do it," explains bassist Billy Sheehan, who is rejoined by drummer Mark Miller and powerhouse vocalist Phil Naro, as well as new recruit Kire Najdovski on guitar. "It's like we never stopped - everything fell together so easily. It was quite wonderful." Now they return with 1985, 11 tracks of classic hard rock, picking up where they left off, and it is a release that will have old school fans salivating and new followers fired up with its big riffs, seductive choruses and killer soloing - basically everything that could be wanted from a Talas record.

With all but one song - "Black And Blue" - written in 1985, the album would have been their fourth full-length had they not split, and while they have worked hard to get the best out of them they have not tampered with the tracks or given them a modern twist, letting them live in the era in which they were created. "We wanted a snapshot of our musical life from 1985," explains Sheehan. "It's the same spirit, mostly the same people, and it's bringing the 80s into 2022. The 80s were an amazing time for music and bands, and we were all excited to go back to that, and I would say the record is raw, real, honest, and exhilarating." With the romping "I'll Take The Night" and "Don't Try To Stop Me Tonight" sitting alongside the groovier likes of "Do You Feel Any Better?" and the dirty swagger of "Close To The Killer", there are a lot of flavors on the record, and all of them delectable, every track maintaining a high standard. Najdovski may be relatively new to the band, but his playing is pure Talas. "He's a great player with great ideas and a joy to work with. Phil had worked with him previously, so I trusted his judgement, and it worked out perfectly." The band also welcomed former guitarist Mitch Perry to appear on the record, playing on the two songs that he wrote, "Crystal Clear" and "On The Take", adding an extra dimension and bringing back more of that old school vibe.

Lyrically, the album covers a lot of ground, but all is honest and from the gut. "I'll Take The Night" references the fact that back in the day they mostly played clubs late at night. "The nighttime brought out the best audiences and the most fun and wild times. At LaMours in Brooklyn, NY, we didn't even go on stage until 1am. Amazing times." Then there's "Close To The Killer", which is "observations from someone ringside at a particularly brutal fight", and "Don't Try To Stop Me" comes from the idea that "sometimes you must not allow yourself to be stopped or held back. It's a musical statement with that in mind." The artwork also communicates a lot, a shot of a classic Delorean conceptualized by the legendary Hugh Syme (Rush, Fates Warning) that immediately brings to mind Back To The Future, which also came out in 1985, once again paying homage to what Sheehan remembers as being a "very good year!"

The album was recorded in Miller's living room in the house he built, utilizing a mobile recording setup, and according to Sheehan the sessions were "an absolute joy." Coordinating everything remotely during the pandemic - with Russ Mackay handling the engineering/mixing/mastering from Toronto - was the hardest aspect of recording, but they managed to pull it all together, making a record that sounds cohesive from start to finish, giving no suggestion that it was anything but a smooth process. As well as Mitch Perry's guest appearance the band also invited Naro's son, James, to appear on the record, who "sang some harmonies - like father, like son, he sounded really great." There are hopes to tour the record, though sadly, after a long battle with cancer, Naro passed in 2021, but thankfully he recorded all of his parts prior to his death, and 1985 stands as a great epitaph to a great vocalist.

Asked why people should be excited for this comeback, Sheehan answers enthusiastically. "Because so many of them were there, with us, and a million other great bands that made the 80s such a special musical experience. And also there are so many who might not have been there but have fallen in love with that spirit as well. We feel a very special bond with them all."

KK Wilde – one of the greatest bands you may never heard of from the 80’s/90’s Sunset Strip.

Every band has their sordid Sunset Strip stories and KK Wilde is amongst the best of the batch; having been looked at by every major record label (and eventually being signed to Warner Brothers Records) to high profile live shows (starting with their very first gig at the Whisky A GO-GO) to having their music played in television (LIFE GOES ON) and 2 songs in the movie Showdown In Little Tokyo to scoring endorsement deals with Charvel Guitars and Bedrock Amps.

The creation of the band KK WILDE began in 1989, when local LA band, Kid Curry; comprised of vocalist/songwriter Kris Kurry and guitarist Eddie Wilde set out to take Hollywood and eventually the rest of the world by storm.

Early on, Kris and Eddie, had been in development talks with Epic Records before deciding to freshen up the lineup with bassist Steve Scott and nineteen-year-old Brian Black (who arrived to the audition with his cymbals in a pizza warmer).

KK Wilde immediately went into Kris Kurry’s Music Box Recording Studios in Hollywood to record the album ROCK N ROLL (1989).

Airplay of the first song on the CD, “Ain’t No Doubt” was in high demand and so began the process of support performances.  A tour bus was acquired, and a vigorous schedule of cross country shows ensued (oh the stories they could tell and would plead guilty to). During this time, Kris and the band started writing new material which would become the second CD, COCAINE COWBOY, which was recorded in 1991.

Over the years, KK Wilde put out two releases. Rock n Roll (a truly underrated gem from the late 80’s) and Cocaine Cowboy which is hard to as hell to find (commands hundreds and hundreds of dollars if a copy shows up on ebay).  Platinum Records released a limited run of COCAINE COWBOY CD’s to keep the buzz going.  Just as things were really heating up, Nirvana released their album, “Nevermind” and Los Angeles bands were abandoned for their Seattle counterparts.

FnA Records is ecstatic to release both very allusive albums, Rock n Roll (1989) and Cocaine Cowboy (1991).  Both are Remastered and pressed on silver CD.   Each album will be sold separately or in a lower-priced package deal.  Digital Downloads will be available as well as T-shirts from both albums.

Guitarist and songwriter Steve Blaze adds the following:
"I believe the basic idea behind the creation of "From Womb to Tomb" has been in my head for many years. The time just needed to be right to express it. This album is a different type of concept record, whereas it does not contain a story-based theme. Rather, it is a timeline from the birth of a child to the ascension of the soul, with each song emphasizing a specific time of one's life and the lessons learned therein. These observations are based on my life and the witnessing of the growth and development of the human condition through my eyes. The wonderful part is that these life experiences seem to exist in each and every one of us, even though the paths and events may greatly differ. This is the most emotional and powerful music I have ever written, and by the reactions of the few people close to me who I have played it for, it will hit a deep and resounding chord with all those who hear it. I ask one thing: listen from the start to finish in solitude, with no distractions, as if you are reading a book or watching a movie. It is not a collection of 16 individual, nonrelated pieces. But instead, it is a complete work of highs and lows, colors and shades, and emotional fluctuations. It will take you through the light of our greatness and the darkness of our failures. The band performed with beautiful power and grace, and I feel it is our best achievement to date."

Lillian Axe are starting their support of the album with a full UK tour in August, their first there since 1993.
