Gibson TV is thrilled to present its first show dedicated to the worlds of heavy metal and monster culture in the new series “Metal and Monsters.”

The host of this adventure is Matt “Count D” Montgomery - bassist for the King Freak himself, Rob Zombie. Having been a staple of the Zombie band and live show for the last 16 years, Count D looks forward to sharing his passion for music and film with metal and monster fans worldwide.

In the first episode of “Metal and Monsters,” Count D takes us to Elm Street as he reunites Don Dokken and Robert Englund to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the film “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.” Featuring never before seen photos from the “Dream Warriors” video shoot, Robert and Don share stories of musical influences to behind-the-scenes tales of one of the most successful horror franchises in film history.

Throughout the 60 minute episode, viewers are also treated to different segments that explore the worlds of horror and heavy metal!

In a segment titled “Tunes from The Crypt,” Count D revisits Metallica’s 1991 groundbreaking release “The Black Album” and gives fans a chance to win some exclusive prizes!

    And there’s more!

Count D takes the monster squad on a field trip to the offices of Super7 in San Francisco to talk with founder Brian Flynn and the Super7 team to learn more about their projects with Motörhead, Iron Maiden, and Megadeth in a segment titled “Terror Trek.”

    But that’s not all!

In a historical piece titled “Exhumed from The Tomb,” Count D sits down with guitarist Bill Steer from the legendary death metal band Carcass to explore the band’s 35-year history.

Filmed on location in downtown Los Angeles, the backdrop for “Metal and Monsters” is the historic 2,000 seat Los Angeles Theatre. Constructed in 1930, Charlie Chaplin helped fund the completion of the building so it would be ready to premiere his film “City Lights” in January of 1931. After closing its doors in 1994, the Los Angeles Theatre sat vacant for many years until serving as a film and television location for productions including “Man on The Moon,” Charlie’s Angels,” “Mad Men,” and “The Lords of Salem.”

So, if you like blast beats and things that go bump in the night, then this is the show for you!

    Welcome to “Metal and Monsters!”

  2. He discusses the 80s metal scene in Hollywood a little bit here:

    Rollo Tomassi's Blog (goodreads.com)

From 2000 to about 2015 organizing live events and conventions was a fairly lucrative proposition in the burgeoning Hustle Economy. Being a speaker at a TED talk held a certain gravitas for the Brand of Me who was invited to relate his very important, self-affirming ideas to a rapt audience. Today, not so much. The TEDx series saw to it that anyone could pay-to-play and thus debased any legitimacy the original TEDs started with. I remember the pay-to-play grift that destroyed the late 80s’ metal scene in Hollywood. Show promoters would buy out a classic venue like Gazzari’s or the Troubadour for a night and then talk “up-and-coming bands” into playing the gigs. All they had to do was sell enough tickets to cover their portion of whatever the promoter had paid to reserve the venue. Whether the bands decided to sell their tickets at a profit or a loss was irrelevant to the promoters – they just had to cover the rent on the club for that night. Most promoters were making their money on marking up that rent, and a percentage of the alcohol sales they’d arrange with club owners. It didn’t matter if the bands were great or they sucked, just that they covered the rent with ticket sales – usually to friends and family to come watch them play on the same stage that Van Halen and Ratt got their start on. The promoters weren’t selling actual talent, they were selling the fantasy of playing on historic stages in L.A. to guys who believed they were good enough to play them. By 1989 pay-to-play was killing what was once a vibrant music scene that naturally culled the talentless bands from the great ones.

Foo Fighters Drummer Taylor Hawkins Dead at 50: 'His Musical Spirit Will Live On'

It continued, "Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time."

His cause of death has not been revealed.

  4. I don't have alot of time to post these days, but if you have money invested in any shape or form in the stock market (IRA, 401K, stocks, options, warrants, etc...) these, and any of the videos Jon has done regarding Wall Street vs Retail are worth taking the time to watch.

    Wall Street = PURE CORRUPTION

  6. I'm just going to link to his most recent video below...

If you've never heard of this guy, he eats, sleeps, and shits music! :P  He currently has over 9000 CDs, and I'd wager that probably 95% of them can be found here on HH. He does album rankings, music news, reviews, record store visits, and various other things throughout the week.  While I don't watch everything he posts, I do make it a point to watch his album rankings (fun!) and the "What's That You're Listening To?"  videos that he posts.  Well worth checking out for anyone that frequents HH.

  7. Marc Storace was already internationally successful in the 70s with the Swiss cult band "TEA". TEA released 4 LP's and 3 singles. After TEA were no longer active, Marc became the voice of KROKUS in 1979. After their first album with Marc, "Metal Rendez-Vous" (with the hit "Bedside Radio"), the rise to a successful international career was unstoppable. KROKUS played several world tours and sold over 15 million records and won many gold and platinum awards. After internal quarrels KROKUS disbanded and Marc released the only solo album "Blue" with the band "Blue" in 1991. The hit "You Can't Stop The Rainfall" is still played on the radio today.

In the 90s and 2000s Marc played in 2 feature films ("ANUK" and "HANDYMAN"), reached gold status again with various KROKUS formations and 3 LPs. With many guest appearances such as "Rock Meets Classic", "Schubert In Rock", on Manfred Ehlert's "Amen" albums or the rock opera "Test", Marc remained in the minds of his fans.

In 2008,the scene was surprised to learn that KROKUS would be touring with its original crew once again. The success was indescribable. Tours in USA, Japan, Europe and South America as well as 2 new studio LP's, which in turn earned platinum status, brought proof that KROKUS is still thriving after over 2000 gigs in the last 30+ years. In December 2019, KROKUS played their farewell concert at the sold-out Hallenstadion in Zurich. In 2020 Marc achieves an unexpected big success in the TV series "Sing Meinen Song" and starts working on his solo career. At the end of 2021 Marc performs together with Fernando Von Arb in the show "This Is Rock" in the tent. Marc will already be performing live with his own band "STORACE" from 8.12.21 onwards. The fans will be amazed at the enthusiasm and freshness with which "STORACE" rocks the stage. He will interpret many songs from his long career since the 70s.
