  1. Slightly off topic here but I just noticed that 'metalmayhemmusic' is no longer registered on Ebay?? Wonder what happened?? Hopefully he will be back since I for one buy from him on a regular basis and am quite happy with the quality of his releases...although I have not picked up the mentioned Keel cd from him....

He sold several items as recently as this morning, so this may be a temporary thing??

  2. I find it humorous that some people on this board find it necessary to broadly insult all those who don't listen to or collect music in the same way they do.

There seems to be a growing sentiment around here that if you, for whatever reason, want a real original pressing of a CD instead of simply downloading the music or, trading a CD-R, or buying a bootleg, that there's something wrong with you.

All of a sudden "collecting music" is now a synonym for 'anal retentive addict freak.' People "collect" for many different reasons: (1) they're a completist for a particular band or artist, (2) the challenge of putting together a vintage collection of a certain type, (3) wanting to hear all the various combinations of mixes, bonus tracks, edits, etc. (that's one of the reasons I collect CD singles). Also, not everyone goes to the collecting extremes implied to be the norm by a few parties here.

Yet a few people here want to label "collecting" as a bad thing and imply that you're not a "real fan" if you are a collector. So who is the real fan, the person who goes out of their way to find obscure pressings or imports from a band, or the person who downloads an entire artist's catalog or trades for CD-R copies of the discography? I'm not going to condemn either approach, but for some reason it has now become "cool" around here to be the latter, and "unclean" to be the former.

Does anyone else find this somewhat disturbing or am I alone in the wilderness? One could make the supposition that it is those with guilty consciences doing the most lobbing of insults...

    -Dan

Yes, the insults could lessen a bit, but personally I am not insulted because I find my collecting habits to be a myriad of contractions. I have several known boots, and if I buy them knowingly, I am cool with that. Usually it is an item that I have tried to obtain but have found it out of my price range. Or it is something I already know is beyond my reach. I have two original CDs that I have paid over $50 for (both Inside Out CDs - because they are from my home town), and I have no intention of buying any more at that price. So boots sometimes become my choice.

However, I can become quite irate, as I did with the Hamilton419 listings, because she was knowingly selling boots, was insistent that they were legit, and would haggle and haggle before giving a refund. Yeah, I was not real pleased that they were crap boots, as well.

On the other hand, I am quite happy when I get an original that is collectible. Why? Probably because it adds status/value to my collection.

In summary, to me it is primarily about the music. That is why I have boots in my collection. It is also why I am thrilled that Sam keeps releasing more music on RR. But secondarily it IS about the value of my collection, and I care about that as well.

Can anyone make sense of what I just wrote??? Sometimes I have trouble understanding it myself.

  3. This is KISS' Worst record EVER...a Big Turd.....

You must have never heard Songs From the Elder....

Sure the Elder wasn't a great Kiss album but at least it had some "balls" to it.

Songs like "I", "Only You", "Dark Light", "The Oath", "Mr. Blackwell" and the killer instrumental "Escape from the Island" were all kick ass songs.

"I" is the only song that is memorable to me. I remember trying to give this one several listens when I first got it, and it never appealed to me. Don't know if I can force myself to listen again.....

  4. Got this email from the winner of that auction:

    Tim,

Good to hear from you. I got all the cds without any problem from those guys so I don't think they are the crooks. At least I got what I paid for.

    Go figure......

Interesting that he says they got all the CDs.... apple222 has left no feedback relating to this auction for "woodmccorner", and look at the feedback that woodmccorner left for apple222 on March 29th:

    http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...94147355&de=off

Excellent Ebayer......Box #1 is on the way, Box #2 shipped on 3/29/07....Thanks

So, on the 29th, Box 1 was on the way, and the second box had just shipped....but he's already gotten all the CDs.... hot damn the USPS musta kicked some ass on those packages!

If apple222 says they are there, I believe him. Oh, 2-day Priority shipping from down south to PA is quite common, by the way. Mailed on 3/29 and received on 3/31 - not out of the ordinary at all.

ISN'T LONNIE FROM ARKANSAS WELL WITH A LITTLE RESEARCH YOU CAN SEE WOODMCCOOMER IS ALSO FROM ARKANSAS

Yeah, same city too, I believe.

  5. The way I figure it is that, If I cant take some pride in doing this(selling cds) then why do it? I have this spray I use from disc-go-pod , it is a company from Canada, the spray is called a Disc cleaning final spray, it has a wax base, It really makes a cd look nice, kinda like when ya get done waxing your car, it also hides some small imperfections a cd might have. its not real expensive and a bottle lasts a long time. ..............huskermetal

I've heard disc-go-pod plus is a good machine and can buff some light scratches. However, I quit selling used CDs sometime ago and dont want to invest $500 in a machine I'll use on ocassion only (not to mention the cleaning solution refills one have to buy regularly).

Plus, it takes 20 mins for the machine to buff one CD, which would be very tedious if you sell in volumes and have to buff 50 CDs every day :).

I have 2 disc go pods, the first model and the improved one, it doesnt take 20 mins it takes 3 for a bad disc, but the supplies are costly, the way to go is JFJ, the supplies arent that much and they last 10 times longer, there is alot of maintenance with the disc go pod, I would never buy another one, I would buy another jFJ machine though, so easy to use, does a good job

I know we are hijacking the thread a bit, but what model JFJ do you have? What do you consider to be a good price? And is there a place you can recommend to purchase it?

Del, I know you have a disc repair machine, too. Could you tell us what you have, what you think of it, and what a good price would be?

    Thanks in advance!!

  6. there are 21 votes,Geoff try to listen Tool,Radiohead,Incubus,System of a down(some songs)and Soulfly(only the soft acoustic songs),they are underrateds for the members of the forum

Please don't get me wrong. I don't slag bands if I haven't heard them. I've heard all these bands and being suffocated by a swarm of bumblebees appeals more to me than hearing any of them again, especially System of a Down, Tool and Radiohead. Sorry dude, these are all bands I've heard but hate with a passion of the purest nature.

I can't say that I like any of these groups either. I like a few songs by Incubus and SOD, but absolutely nothing by Tool or Radiohead.

  7. I've heard Helmet. Personally, I'd rather run into a brick wall with a helmet on my head than listen to them again. :)

Wow!! Something we see eye-to-eye on, musically!! :P

Yeah! I guess all you guys are right! my bad, I was just being a selfish fucker and trying to get my way, I apologize, can you unvote on this thing?? you guys have made me see the light, Nickelback is way more talented and just all around better then Helmet could ever even think of being, I mean Helmets music just has way to busy of a arrangement, while Nickelback's music are all well arranged, and very traditional, I cant stand how in Helmets song's you can never tell what the song's going to do, or where it's going, how can anybody like that? I much rather something like Nickleback, where I can always guess right on where the song's taking me, and I don't ever have to worry about unexpected suprises while listening. Thanks Guys!

    :rofl2::rofl2:

Don't mind us. We're just simple folk.

    :rofl2::rofl2:

  8. RATT!!!!!! Although some good competition, the opening riffs of Lack Of Communication were always a favorite and although some good hits on this one, Scene Of The Crime was my favorite track on this album :banger:

Yeah, I still remember the first time my friend put on a tape of Lack of Communication. EXCELLENT!!!

I went with Ratt, one of my Top 5 favorite albums of all time.

  9. helmet has talent, and therefore shouldnt be included with the rest of these guys. i dont like any of the rest. throw them out with the trash.

Amen! Brother, Amen! apperantly nobody's heard Helmet, I thought everybody had, but if they had, they would have voted for them, then been pissed that they were included on this list, and if your going to include Helmet, where is Quicksand? why isn't Quicksand on here, or Orange 9mm? those are bands that should be on a list with Helmet, not fucking Nickleback, and Korn!! Jesus Christ!!!!

I have a couple Helmet CDs, and they have never appealed to me.

  10. i see that hamilton is no longer a registered user and i still havent got my refund.

this means bye bye refund i suppose?

although i'm sure she'll pop up with another nickname soon

No, that does not mean your refund will not happen. We don't know why she is not a seller. She could have had a temporary glitch with a credit card or something. Our HOPE is that she has gotten the boot from Ebay because of numerous complaints.

How many times have you contacted her? Be very insistent and contact her EVERY day. Once you get to the 30 day point of your payment for the item, I would file a Paypal claim and say you never received the item. After all, you never DID receive the item you were expecting - a factory pressed, official release!
