  1. (I just listened to "In God We Trust" today and GEESH, the amount of sugar and sap on that disc damn near gave me diabetes...!)

That's what I hate about the earlier stuff. I love the beefy sound musically, but the lyrics, the ballads and Sweet's voice on the ballads - makes me sick to the stomach. IMO 'Against the law' is easily their finest hour.

I wish I was as enthusiastic about the "Reborn" album as most folks seemed to be around here, I thought it stunk on ice personally. Sold my copy off several months back. I was very disappointed, especially after a fifteen year (!) wait for new material!!

I actually would rate 'Reborn' 2nd, probably tied with 'In god we trust'. It'd be hard to rank them, but I thought 'Reborn' was a good album.

We would probably rate these albums in exact opposite order!

  2. Against the Law is my pick, I love that album.

Is there any other choice? I like several somgs from previous albums, but this one kicks ass throughout with only a few fillers. Huge factor for me too - Stryper recorded arguably all of the worst ballads ever, up until this album, where they unleashed possibly my fave Stryper track, 'Lady'.

FYI, when I crashed my first car 'Caught in the middle' and 'All for one' blared through the speakers as I stared at the wreckage. Yeah, 'Against the law' by miles.

Typical.... We disagree again, Geoff. :P Next to Reborn, Against the Law is my least favorite Stryper disc.

I went with To Hell With the Devil, followed closely by Soldiers Under Command.

  3. Fat Freddy, if you ever get a poll going comparing this album to Def Leppard's X, I may have to give the nod to the latter.

How anyone can say "The Elder" is cool and "X" is horrible is a mystery that not even an entire squad of Sherlock Holmeses could figure out. "The Elder" is so bad, it doesn't even deserve to be the yellow, sticky, rancid pus inside the bulging boil on the ass of hard rock.

    :rofl2:

Come on, let us know how you REALLY feel!

  4. Went with Rise to It.

This one is almost as bad as Elder.

I love this album, always have. :anon:

This and 'Elder' may as well have been recorded by different bands due to how much better this one is. :P

Okay, I am man enough to admit when I am wrong. :anon:

I gave this one another spin tonight, and I have to say it is not bad at all. There are several decent songs on the disc. It is NOT NEARLY as lame as Elder.

  5. Okay, thanks to many in this thread, I just wasted about 40 minutes relistening to this pile of crap.

My original verdict stands: There is ONE good song: "I". There is more crap in this album than in the normal outhouse of the 19th century. :puke:

Fat Freddy, if you ever get a poll going comparing this album to Def Leppard's X, I may have to give the nod to the latter.

  6. Tim , just know that whenever you buy a Metal Mayhem release - the artist isn't getting paid.

Sam, is this the way it is with ALL his artists? Or are you just more familiar with the Ron Keel situation?

I have bought numerous CDs from MetalMayhem, although not nearly the number I have purchased through vegascds and RR.

Sam, any additional tracks going on the two Keel re-issues?
