  1. I can't believe the sentiment being espoused for the 80s hair metal version of KISS. Aren't there ANY hard rockers left on these boards? And as far as the best songs being on the 80s stuff, let me list the classics before 1980:

    Detroit Rock City

    King of the Nighttime World

    Do You Love Me

    Shout It Out Loud

    Calling Dr. Love

    Love Gun

    Firehouse

    Strutter

    Watchin' You

    100.000 Years

    Shock Me

    I Stole Your Love

    and the list goes on...

I would hardly classify most of those songs as "hard rock". Just sayin'...

Dude, this is a friendly but serious question:

Keeping in mind we're talking about 1973 to 1979, what exactly would you call hard rock from that era if not Love Gun and Detroit Rock City?

  2. I think their early stuff is far from hard rockin stuff. like they have said, they wanted to be a heavy Beatles. Really, the band didn't get heavier till Eric Carr came on board. I once counted this band as a top 10 fav of mine but now I look back and think to myself "what was I thinking".

I do think the Revenge album was their Hardest rockin' album to date.

"Parasite" off of the Hotter Than Hell album was written in 1974 and will still peel the skin off of your face. CRANK IT! :guitbannana:

  3. Whoa whoa whoa, hang on a sec there.. Are You saying songs like "War Machine" "I Love it Loud" and "God of Thunder" Suck????? That can't be what you meant, could it???

Um... technically, "God of Thunder" is a Paul song... he wrote it, not Gene.

And "War Machine" was co-written by Brian Adams.

    Here's the classics after 1980:

Listen, I'm a huge fan. I've had a love/hate relationship with this band almost my entire life. I even have sentimental attachments to the albums I don't particularly listen to very much (Animalize being the main one), and might be the only person on the planet who forgave them for making a grunge album in a moment of weakness (Carnival of Souls). Heck, I like that one better than anything after Dynasty. But most people who fell in love with the band did so because of the heavier stuff, not the Bon Jovi retreads...

The new CD might be crap, especially since Gene is running out of cliches and Paul is not the greatest producer, but I'll still buy it before I hear it, because they're still "my band" and...HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL! (Now THERE'S a cliche for you Gene!)

  4. Good post, love looking at spooky pics, though I`m an absolute non believer, always find

this kind of thing very interesting

    Yeah!

I gotta agree with Faron & Jimbo.

I don't believe in any of it.

Thanks mate, I`m normally the only one who agrees with me

    I disagree with that.

Has anyone ever heard of Cry Baby Bridge? It's a ghost story where I live about a two lane bridge and sometimes when you drive over it, your car mysteriously stalls out and you can hear the cries of an infant that was thrown over the edge and into the water by its mother.

    Creeeeeeeeepy! :o

  5. Okay, a tough decision, but one I felt I had to make. It looks like the interest is there, but the economy and other issues are not cooperating for many of you. So with a heavy heart, I'm going to cancel this and hope that I'll continue to be able to meet many of you when I travel to far off lands (like South Dakota for instance... ;) ). Three definites and three maybes probably isn't worth it for any of us really IMHO.

So there ya go, if you have strong feelings to the contrary, hit me with a response! :drink:

    Cheers, Pete

Even though I didn't have a hope in hell of making it I'm sorry to see it's been canceled. :( Here's to hoping there will be something that will come up allowing us all to get together sometime. :drink:

Backed...I was really trying to work it out so I could go, but it didn't

look promising...so hopefully we can all hook up sometime.. :drink:

Yeah, but let's not tell Metal T. :P

  6. Vimi, sevu pley.

That means: 'Hi Valerie, and welcome to the boards. Feel free to hang your clothes (underpants included) by the door and join the party. Party naked!'

Dude, why are you always scaring off the newbies? <_<

  7. I believe the Hall of Fame rules state that to be inducted as a member of a band, you have to have played on at least one officially released recording.

Despite the fact my opinion that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is a complete sham, run by fucking assholes with shit for brains, why was Ronnie James Dio not inducted as a part of Black Sabbath? The way people bend over backwards to kiss Ozzy's ass and appease that Battleaxe he's chained to, makes me violently ill. Of course, I doubt the dipshits at the R&RHOF have even heard Heaven And Hell or Mob Rules anyway. And what kind of rock and roll shrine has the likes of Aretha Franklin in it? R&B - yes. Soul - yes? Any other fucking genre you can think of - yes. But rock and roll? No fuckin' way, Jose.

Artists that are IN the "Rock and Roll" Hall of Fame: Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Ricky Nelson, The Mamas and the Papas, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Isaac Hayes, The O'Jays and Run D.M.C.

Artists that are eligible but are NOT in: KISS, Rush, Judas Priest, Alice Cooper and Deep Purple.

If YOU were Dave Mustaine, would you WANT to go into this hall?

    Ever?

  8. Maybe they should have a no-holds barred punch-up between Seahag Sharon and Bob Daisley. I'd put my money on Daisley, based on his anger over the fact that uberbitch screwed him and Kerslake out of a shitload of royalties. How people can have any respect for that twat is a mystery for the ages - she's pure evil, and causes bile to rise in my throat every time I see her greedy, smirking face.

You really shouldn't bottle up your feelings so much. Let it out. You'll feel better.

For the record, my unsolicited opinion is that Ozzy is just a musical figurehead now. Much like Vanna White, he is a guy who found himself in the circular circumstance of being famous for being famous, and his snake-charming wife has used every possible angle to take advantage of that fame. If Ozzy had been the lead singer of Strawberry Alarm Clock or Blue Cheer instead of Black Sabbath he would be nothing but a foot-note in the history of music. But whatever you think of him and his wife now, he still was a founding member of the band that created heavy metal, and for that we should all be grateful.

I say, respect and love the poor barker for his contribution to the music we love, but otherwise leave him be...

  9. Wow, this show just gets more and more interesting!

There is a spoiler question below regarding Sayid and Ben so beware:

I thought that Fariday said that the past could not be changed? So I assume either Sayed's gunshot did not kill young Ben, or Ben has been dead the whole time. That might explain why John Locke is now back and ready to be the Others' leader, because he is "dead" too...any thoughts on that?

And does anyone have an aspirin?

  10. Bonjour et Bienvenue Valérie :drink:

I was wondering when he was going to whip out the french.

    Welcome to the forum.......:)

Would you prefer if I whipped out something else? ;)

    How 'bout a breath mint?

    Seriously.

  11. Who the F*ck you calling old? :2up:

    You can call me DOUCHEBAG!

    You can call me SCUMBAG!

Never! I mean Never call someone OLD!

    It hurts my feelings :crying:

Is that how your wife calls you?

    "Douchebag! Time for dinner!"

    "Scumbag! Telephone!"

"Twatwaffle! I'm going to smother you with a pillow if you purchase one more compact disc!"

(I tossed in that last one for a giggle.) :nyanya:

By the way, I've decided to block everyone on this board who's older than me...but there doesn't seem to be anyone older than me. :crying:

  12. Too Fast - I'm a sucker for this sort of poverty, garage band metal.

Cellar - Round and Round might be the greatest "hair metal" single ever.

Invasion - De Martini flashes a melodic brilliance throughout.

Girls Cubed - Back to basics for the Crue.

Detonator - My favorite Ratt disc.

New Tattoo - By default. Not a fan of either album, really.
