  1. Well,Well.Well.Who won the bloody Ashes then ?? I'm tempted to let rip but the Aussies helped make it a great series. So just a few :::

Unbelievable. This has been one of the most incredible days imaginable. I'd all but given up. Pietersen is a freak. How can you play so well under so much presure.

Thanks Dave for the Aussie Banter and I look forward to our boys giving your boys a good stuffing in your back garden in two years.

    :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

  2. My oh my. It's going to be another close finish. I put the draw as slight favourite based on the weather forcasts but if there are 6 full sessions it really should favour you Aussie boys from here.

  3. Serious question for Dave and Doggy. How has this series been taken in Australia.

The theory for a long time has been that Australian cricket needs a good competitive Ashes series as the general public were getting bored of winning easily all the time. Are people interested or do they switch off when they lose?

Cricket in the UK has never had so much interest in my lifetime. It's on the front and back pages of all the newspapers and people who never knew what cricket was at the start of the summer are following intensly.

  4. Dave - Bugger me - had to check the old skids again mate - this is becoming a bit too regular for my liking. I don't think the old ticker will be able to take much more of this. Another fabulous match never in doubt  (!!!!!!!!!!!!). A well deserved pint for all involved, but am well chuffed obviously for another brill allround England performance. Here's a couple for you mate    :drink: :drink:

Jesus Christ. That was nearly me needing a new telly.

  5. So Dave, how you feeling now then?

No dancing bananas yet from me, but if you escape with a draw again this time then it really is a miracle.  This is a truly awesome England side....

Tim, after the last one I think we should keep quiet until the fat lady is well and truly letting rip from the top of her lungs.

Great days cricket though. Flintoff was awsome.

  6. Yep...you hit it right on the head Recordjnky! Alot of folks are not into the complete "collector" mode or mind set, they just want the disc, on a more professionally done package than just a burned copy with the band name scribbled across the disc in magic marker...so when they get any cd that maybe is an official release, and maybe it is not, to alot of folks they are just thrilled to own it in a form of cd, other than the homeade variety, a seller who is possiblly selling stuff that is not legit or not band sanctioned, still gets great feedback......as collectors when we say something is a cd-r, we automatically think of something homemade but the pressings that are being done by some of the bands, (the new suspicion releases jump to mind) are really nicely done pressings , not burns,  but cd's that are heat sealed, and just beautifully done, despite being done on cd-r type media...I have finally been able to see the new releases from Retrospect and I must say they are very nice, heat sealed pressings on cd-r type media, not burned cd-r's or homemade stuff, and a large step up from what Joe Dolan was doing before with retrospect, if anyone has the bittersweet you know what I mean, as a collector I will have to own all of the retrospect releases as well as Suncity, or Metal Mayhem.....I really think there really is not alot of folks that are into that complete collectors mode or mindset...I used to be only interested in getting stuff that was on cd, I did not want anything done on cd-r type media or even tape, but I have discovered alot of stuff is worth hearing, and the only way to get it is in these various forms I have mentioned, I am always going to be a totally full blown collector, who wants all the rare cd's I can get...but instead of limiting myself to just cd's, I am tyring to get the music anyway I can....

now I don't condone counterfiet cd's, which are reproductions meant to be passed off as the original pressings, but stuff like these camp classics could become quite collectible to alot of people, I know folks who love collecting these types of "reissues", although if the are cheaply done cd-r burns I can't figure that out, the reborn classics became very collectible by alot of poeple dispite being poorly done, but they were collectible, and on the other end of the spectrum of quality are the labels Suncity Records, Retrospect Records, Metal Mayhem Music, etc, these guys are really doing some great reissues and releases...forget about the things that have been said on this board about some of these labels, and the personalities that have had blow up's, (me included) think about it... what might be coming out, and how they are being done,  from these 3 labels, this year alone?? Whether I think I am a collector or not, It makes me wet my pants.....lol.......

    :agree:

Honestly, i think its because most people don't buy cd's for "collectors"  purposes or to re-sell later on - i think its because most people just want the music in CD format anyway they can get it. So when they get their disc they have nothing to complain about...they have a once-rare title finally on CD format. I don't want to start any flaming arguments here but thats why i think this seller gets great feedback.

Can you please explain the difference between a cd-r and 'cd-r type media'.

As far as Retrospect go I tend to agree with you. As long as somebody is aware of what they are buying and it's licenced he can charge what he likes. That's capitalism, like it or not. Where I do have a problem is the e-bay add that was clearly written to be evasive from the fact that it's a re-issue. The web site is fine. 20 dollars looks at first sight quite a lot but given the low volumes likely to be sold and the effort in making them it's probably fair. He'll see himself whether the market can support a 50 dollar re-issue.

As for inventing a label and re-issuing unlicenced material. That's just piracy isn't it?

  7. Hi Dave

Have been following the scores while on Holiday with great interest. Was not a happy man after you managed (somehow) to get the draw - but what the hell - when the game is as good as this (and it don't get much better) I will almost forgive you. Can't wait for Thursday and the Freddie Flintoff show!!!

Welcome back Jez and i hope you had a great holiday.

Make no doubt about it , we were very lucky to get away with a draw and i will even admit i think we are seeing the change of the guard here ,even if we get away with a victory or draw in this series.

Most of our batsmen have no idea when facing Flintoff and he will hold the key to the remaining tests.

I'm glad they are playing Tait because other than Lee , our attack is all the same pace and has become to predictable and the good thing with Tait , he is very unpredictable and alot of the time he has no idea where the ball is going to land when it leaves his hand {a bit like Lee} but he is very fast and can get very sharp lift and i think they have to try and fight fire with fire.

Bottom line though, is that our batsmen have to do something here or we are gone for all money.

This will be an important toss to win !!!!!!!!!! :drink:

Tait should be interesting. If Mcgrath is injured , and the smart money is on this story being a smoke screen, then you're stuffed.

    Dave, hows your telly?

  9. Our cricketers can celebrate all they like but :gives: .If it was not for Ponting finally doing something , we would have been flogged and rightly so.We did not deserve that in any way , shape or form and unless a few others pull their fingers out of their arses and soon , the result will still be 3-1 in Englands favour.

They have been given a life line here , now lets see if they have the balls to stand up to the far superior English bowling attack that has been all over them so far !!

    I honestly don't think they can !!!!

Just one gripe though , how was Martyn out ?????? Bat before wicket ??????? Stevie Wonder could have seen that it hit his bat first <_<

Oh and one more thing  .If i see one one more of those fu :censored: in' clowns , leave a ball and get bowled, i will fly over and personally insert the handle of their bat up their :butt::explode:

Give the guys some credit. Jones and Freddy have been making the ball talk.

  10. I bet lunch is tasting lovely on our table. But deep down we know this is going to be a draw.Or is it ???  <_<

I really believe all results are possible. Lee or Warne could go through us. We could hit 200 before tea , declare and give ourselves 4 sessions to bowl them out or it could just be a draw. A lot of cricket left.

  11. Quite an enjoyable day for us English. However,I could have put loads of cash on the Aussies doing something AGAIN in the last few overs, and made a mint !!!!

You must have been pretty happy when they held off taking the new ball a couple of overs then?

I suspect Dave will be giving this thread a miss for a few days. Bit like Gilchrist and the ball today :P

No Pete , i'll front up win ,lose or after a discraceful effort in the field like that yesterday.

Make no mistake, McGrath and Lee's opening spell was brilliant with no luck at all and other than that , the rest is pretty much forgetful.

I also believe that this side is in total dissaray from the pressure and attacking approach from England with both bat and ball and if they don't clean up the remaining English wickets cheaply today , it just won't be this test match all over , it will be the series because Gillespie or Kasper are simply not up to it to provide support for McGrath , Lee and Warne and none of our top order batsmen even look like they are going to make runs , so all i can see is trouble ahead unless there is a major turn around

Tim stated in an earlier thread after losing the First Test that England would now win the series 4-1 and i just laughed at that. Now that is not a laughing matter , that is a distinct possibility

Would you go for Tait. I'm a big fan of out and out pace and I'd like to see what he can do. I'm pleased to see Lee doing well and Australia losing!

  13. Good to hear.

My wife has just phoned me to tell me she's sick so I might have to go home and look after the kids. About time they learned what the ashes is I think.

Warne just come on to bowl I see. So far so good.
