  1. You guys have no idea what a dick he owner has been about my Tora Tora refund. We went at it today...he is a douchebag and I will not support anything they do.

That sucks! ANd obviously speaks volume's about this company's charactor. I'm sure you were quite pleasant in sharing your dissatisfaction with the product you paid REAL $$$$$ for, not that 10 or 15 bucks isn't real money, but sheesh...

    Tell us more...

The short and skinny of it is it was not listed as a cdr. Okay, I get it. That sucks and I am out shipping it back but I get it. So I send it back Priority mail no less so I am not waiting forever and after seeing it had made it there via tracking I was told it wasn't there yet. Ok...?

Two days later I ask again. This time it was there but an employee forgot to tell him and he is sick in bed, maybe he will refund it in a day or two. At this point I am a bit fed up and done. Do I feel bad he is sick? Sure...I am human. But you have had the fucking box for several days and the product was shit. I requested a refund within the day or I was filing a claim with Paypal. No refund came so I did what I said and that started a shit storm. Now I'm the bad guy because he is sick. Lets not talk about the shit product, having the box for days and the fact that it takes two seconds to refund the money.

So now he is purposely taking all 14 days Paypal gave him to refund the money just to be a dick.

As I said before, I will not buy from them again and any chance I get I am going to tell everyone about this place and how they operate.

  2. A few comments:

The only track on the debut I don't absolutely love is 'Get ready.' Not bad, but just an average party rock song on the end. All of the other 8 songs are fantastic, imo.

'If I was your mother' and 'Fear'??? Zomfg, they're two of my favourite songs off 'Keep The Faith,' especially 'if I was your mother.' I was hoping that was a direction the band might take themselves in at one point. Love those songs. The only songs I don't love on that CD are the title track and 'I'll sleep when I'm dead.'

0% filler on 'New Jesrsey?' What about 'Homebound train' and 'Love for sale?' Those two songs basically define the term filler. I rated 'Homebound train' with the rest of the CD, but chose to leave 'Love for sale' out of my rating for the CD as I don't rate intros, interludes, instrumentals etc. and to me that song's just a pointless kind of bonus addition, not to detract from the rest of an excellent CD.

'Slippery When Wet.' FYI, here's how I got to my rating:

    1 - Let It Rock - good anthemic opener - 8.00

2 - You Give Love A Bad Name - classic melodic rocker with a huge chorus - 9.75

    3 - Livin’ On A Prayer - overplayed or not, can't fault the song - 10.00

4 - Social Disease - not a great song by any means - just weak all 'round - 5.00

5 - Wanted Dead Or Alive - good, solid ballad but really not great compared to great ballads of this era - 7.50

    6 - Raise Your Hands - nice big anthemic rocker - 8.75

7 - Without Love - a more perfect song one could craft, I know not of - 10.00

    8 - I’d Die For You - killer melodic rocker - huge chorus - 9.75

9 - Never Say Goodbye - real nice ballad, much nicer than the first one - 8.50

    10 - Wild In The Streets - great pre-chorus, decent hard rocker - 7.50

    - Total - 85%

Spot on with you on the two songs mentioned on the Faith album. Freakin great!

I hate Love for Sale as well but love Homebound Train. Good stuff!

  3. IMO their last great ballad is 'You had me from hello' from the 'Bounce' CD. I know a lot of people thought it was corny, but I love it. Beautiful chorus hook and melody. And just before that, I thought 'She's a mystery' off 'Crush' is a magnificent song - one of their best ballads.

Sadly, though, there is not a great or even good ballad on any of their CDs from 'HAND' to 'What about now.'

I agree it's a crying shame, considering that I think every single ballad on their albums up to and including 'These Days' was/is magnificent or at least pretty damn good. They definitely lost their touch when it came to ballads, which is sad, because despite their change in style though the years, a good ballad should always have been a fail-safe on their CDs... :(

I agree and actually love all the Ballads on Bounce. It has a couple of duds but is easily around 85% rating.

  4. I've never understood the appeal of their debut album ... Runaway is a stone-cold classic, but the rest of it leaves me cold ... sorry ...

    ?

    These are all 9.5-10

    Runaway

    Roulette

    She Don't Know Me

    Shot Through The Heart

    Come Back

Along with Breakout which could be the best song on the album.

Damn all this Jovi talk has me jonesing....I need to jam the ST album on the way to work :)

Yeah, I KNOW I'm very much in the minority here (if not 'all alone in a field of one') ... I've tried to hear what others hear when it comes to the debut ... but I don't ... give me 'New Jersey' and 'Keep The Faith' any day ...

When I do my rating of these albums those are the 2 I think are gonna suffer - several fillers across those 2 albums IMO.

Not for me. Faith is my favorite and NJ only had filler at the end.

The only albums by the band that I would say have 0% filler for me are Slippery and Jersey. Faith is only let down by If I was your mother (not that its a terrible song, just that I hate the song title and concept), and Fear which just never excited me. These days has a couple of weak tracks on it as well.

Oh dude, if I was your mother is killer!!!

  7. I'm surprised to see the debut rated very highly for you guys. I think the top albums are 'Keep The Faith' and 'These Days' (90-95%), and then followed by 'New Jersey' and 'Slippery When Wet' (85-90%), then s/t (80%) and '7800'. The latter one is still the worst album of the early era, I rated probably around 75-77% and perhaps as strong as 'Crush', 'Bounce', and 'What About Now'. HAND is 80%, and I gave 'Lost Highway' around 81-82%. 'Circle' is 70%, so it's still the lowest stack, but basically I'm enjoying all albums like Captain except TLFR which can be ignored. Guess am a fan then

    Blimey, Lost Highway > s/t ??????!

Have you gone mad lol ;-))

Yeah, backed. There's something really pure and beautiful about the debut. I love all the songs and it's great just to hear them in an honest environment, before the bells and whistles and hype and popularity. Great disc. 'Lost Highway,' to me, is kind of the beginning of their decline for me. Their softest, "least rocking" disc, plus the country angle. I can still hear a solid rock sound from 'Crush' to 'HAND,' but the balls definitely seem to be lacking on 'Lost Highway.'

It's very difficult to rate them until they got bad of course. The ST album is special, and it may have a song or two that I skip which typically effects where I rank it because it only has nine tracks to begin with. But Runaway, Roulette, She Don't Know, Shot Through the Heart, Love Lies and Breakout I would put up against anything they have written. They are that good....

  8. I need to think it through but basically the first album, then skip 7800, then the next four but I am unsure of the order. I can tell you other than a handful of songs, I thought 7800 was fluffy crap. I think my favorite is Keep the Faith, then New Jersey, then SWW and ST are a tie for third. I think SWW gets effected by over play from back in the day, otherwise it's a slam dunk number one.

  10. (1) Tora Tora – To Rock To Roll CD (true to the original indie cassette that was released 25 years ago in a limited run of 500 cassettes),

How can it be true to the original indie cassette if there are not 500 copies?

Surely if you want to be true to the original, you release the same amount of copies.

I think they mean the sound is true to the tape, or in other words the CDRs would be pressed from a cassette tape rip transfer...

That's exactly what they meant...I know because it sounds like shit.
