  1. Made a couple of corrections for you, free of charge. ;)

    Warrior Soul: everything after 'Salutations'

Metallica: everything after the Black Album

    Megadeth: Cryptic Writings Risk

You're too kind ... but you're forgetting how much I love 'Space Age Playboys', so your Warrior Soul argument is invalid :) I take your point about Megadeth and the Lars Ulrich All-Stars, but I was trying to limit it to one album (the songs for Load and Re-Load were more or less recorded at the same time, so I count 'em as one utterly awful double album) ;)

I'll add a few to my list, though ...

Anything Iron Maiden recorded with Blaze Bayley (sorry, guys - but what WERE you thinking?)

    Cradle Of Filth: Vempire

Anthrax: State Of Euphoria (after the brilliance of Among The Living, this was a REAL let-down)

Alice Cooper: Trash (yes, I know it's chock-full of hits, but it's not 'Alice')

  2. Bark At The Moon gets my vote ... the title track is one of the reasons why I listen to the stuff I do :) The Ultimate Sin and No Rest For The Wicked are favourites, too ... I thought there were some great songs on No More Tears, but it's a bit patchy for me ... and I haven't really bothered with any of his studio albums after that ... although the song Perry Mason is pretty killer ...

  3. Here is my quick ratings of theire 4 releases

Metal Will Stand Tall - 87% with only 'Song For You' being a true filler, the rest of the release was awesome. Metall Will Stand Tall is a lame Manowar styled title.

Sweet Trade - 85% the last 6 songs are insanely awesome, the first 6 are only very good. My favourite album of 2007, although the only other really good title that year was the Loverboy release. 2007 was the weakest year in music my for my tastes of the last 10 years.

Clash Of The Elements - 88% the first track is filler and so is 7 Days & 7 Nights (I see the new album will have a song called 40 Days and 40 Nights...I hope it's not a redo of this one.) The rest of the album is pretty solid. Caroline was my favourite song of 2009 and One Out Of Ten is their best ballad.

Performocracy - 78% Way too much filler on this one. The best tracks by far were Cuts Like A Knife, Vampire's Call, I Want It All and the best being Bring Back The Night. This album sounded rushed, 4 Poodles releases in under 6 years, I think they needed a break and needed to re-tool.

I had their first two albums ... there are a couple of absolute killers on Sweet Trade, but the rest of the songs just blurred into one for me ... their debut didn't really 'get' me at all (although a mate of mine - not JE - thinks it's one of the best things he's ever heard!)

  4. There are quite a few bands where I like only 2 or 3 songs, but 1 is really difficult. These are the only rock and metal examples I can come up with:

Kid Ego - Flirtin With Suicide

    Damnation Alley - Psycho City

Biss - Joker In The Deck

Satan - Alone in the Dock

    1994 - Sing To Me

Master - Cut Through The Filth

There are loads of non-metal artists for whom I only like one song though. For example (and these are all awesome tunes imo):

Dawn Of The Replicants - Lisa Box

    Harvey Danger - Flagpole Sitta

    Cannibal Ox - Iron Galaxy

    Mono - Life In Mono

Third Eye Foundation - Corpses As Bedmates

    Bis - End Starts Today

McAlmont & Butler - Bring It Back

    Brian Jonestown Massacre - Wisdom

Asian Dub Foundation - Free Satpal Ram

    Onyx - Raze It Up

I can't remember the last time I heard 'Court In The Act' ... *sob!*

    Yeah, hint taken.

The Satan album was so disappointing. Not a patch on 'Blaze of Obscurity' by Pariah (which I heard first and is a bona fide classic).

McAlmont & Butler: Yes1994: Please Stand ByI think you made Cannibal Ox up :)

  5. I like the Pariah album but, as you have no doubt gathered by now, 'Court In The Act' is a classic as far as I'm concerned ... it never ceases to amaze me that opinion can be so divided over a particular album or artist (the ongoing Bon Jovi debate elsewhere on HH being a case in point) ... it must be a 'timing' thing - you hear an album/song at a particular point in your life, and it just sticks with you (regardless of what the critics/popular opinion may say) ...

That's the excuse I'm using for some of my more 'unusual' music choices, anyway :)

  7. Roxx Gang: Scratch My Back

Erm .... 'No Easy Way Out'? That's a choooon!

    Annihilator: Never, Neverland

    :omg:

GAAAAHHH! 'Alison Hell'? 'Stone Wall'? 'Fun Palace'? Hmm?

'Alison Hell' would be in my top 50(ish) songs of all time. Heathen!

    :D

Annihilator are another one of those bands that has me flying in the face of popular opinion ... I bought 'Alice In Hell' when it first came out, but I never really warmed to Randy Rampage's voice ... That said, I might have been a teensy bit harsh in saying that they've only done one song that I really like ... some of their latter-day stuff is okay :)

  8. I've never understood the appeal of their debut album ... Runaway is a stone-cold classic, but the rest of it leaves me cold ... sorry ...

    ?

    These are all 9.5-10

    Runaway

    Roulette

    She Don't Know Me

    Shot Through The Heart

    Come Back

Along with Breakout which could be the best song on the album.

Damn all this Jovi talk has me jonesing....I need to jam the ST album on the way to work :)

Yeah, I KNOW I'm very much in the minority here (if not 'all alone in a field of one') ... I've tried to hear what others hear when it comes to the debut ... but I don't ... give me 'New Jersey' and 'Keep The Faith' any day ...

  9. A handful that immediately spring to mind:

Living Colour: Love Rears Its Ugly Head

    Roxx Gang: Scratch My Back

    Annihilator: Never, Neverland

Eric Clapton: Cocaine (which wasn't even his song to begin with)

Joan Jett and The Blackhearts: I Hate Myself For Loving You

Alice In Chains: We Die Young

The Darkness: One Way Ticket ...

If anyone wants me, I'll be over here ... getting my coat ...

  10. I wouldn't mind seeing Eclipse and Baton Rouge ... but it looks as though the lovely Mrs G is working that weekend ... then, of course, there's the fact that most ticket outlets don't accept Magic Beans as payment ... :)

    You have magic beans? Cool!

Maybe they'll let you trade one of the kids for a ticket. You'd hardly notice if it was only one... ;)

True ... given that we appear to have three teenagers in the house at the moment, they might be persuaded to take more than one? :)

Just go on Friday, then you can both buy me beer ;-)

    A plan with no drawbacks!

    ;)

The man is a genius! :)

  12. And Saturday's Headliners are - Pretty Maids

Hmm ... better than expected. If the fundage is there and I can persuade that strange Gibbo fella to come along, I quite fancy this.

Christ on a bike - what with this and the Damnation Festival, I need to get saving!
