  1. My "Decline" VHS was one of my best scrounging scores ever... found it (still sealed!) in a bin of clearance videos at a CD store about ten years ago, for $2.98!! I was like "Ho-lee SH*T!" Got Armored Saint's A TRIP THRU RED TIMES VHS at the same time, for the same price. Great price! I'll do you one better...free! That's right. None other then guitar guru of the west coast James Paulson (NAS fame) offered it up to me a few years back, cause thats how we roll! (Of course unbeknownst to me I think I may have traded my Hamer Phantom III for it. ) Of note: I recall many years ago seeing a different covered release of this which if memory serves was a band shot and I want to say London on the cover. Not the Mustaine cover we are all quite familiar with. Any one else remember this?

My latest one..not to many people can figure this one out.. a butter cookie to the one who does... I'll bite. To me it looks like a religious tattoo. Jesus, the crown of thorns, etc...
  4. DECLINE II is the Great White Whale of DVD releases. Apparently Penelope Spheeris has been trying to secure a DVD release for years but it's been tied up by endless hassles with music licensing/publishing rights and clearances. All the deals she made with the bands that appeared in the movie (and their record labels) to use their songs in the film obviously expired a loooooong time ago. I still have a near-mint VHS copy but if and when it turns up on IFC again I'm gonna make sure to program my DVD recorder and catch it, cuz I am tired of holding my breath waiting for an official DVD!! I have seen endless DVD boots for this, but they have all been substandard at best. Just like Keith I too have a vhs copy that I watch regularly. "Randy why do you wear pants with no butt in 'em?" "It ventilates my scrotum."
  5. Nice haul Lawrence! That Fragile X is an amazing CD...
  6. Yeah, that one sounds magnificent. Sadly it's not at my local library but I may even make a purchase. It is a great read Geoff, you will enjoy it and it just so happens that back in my book collecting days I got that one signed, hardcover first edition of course, by Mr. McCammon himself. Just starting to read Michael Crichton's Next... Boy that Crichton sure can write! Could not put this down and felt the same with the Jurassic Park series and others. About 50 pages into L. Ron Hubbards Battlefield Earth and at over 1,000 pages I may be at this one a while. So far it is pretty engaging if you are into science fiction...
  7. Glad it meets your high metal standards my brother (surprising what creeps out of Tacoma these days) and again my apologies for the mailing delay.

Have a sleeve of meaningful and meaningless stuff. Always wanted one and did it over the past15 or so years. Only regret is not having enough money and understanding from the better half to get more...
  9. I would be curious to know this too, picked this one up on the cheap a long time ago. Interesting how K-Tel used to put out some metal...
  10. I see that... Maybe Tim2 saw a different movie. I don't remember seeing any sea monsters, just a mess of Starship Trooper styled bugs. ? . Well what was that big creature that rose up over the Brooklyn Bridge then? The one that picked-up & ate the guy with the camera? I know there were those stupid bugs in the Subway tunnels, but there was also the main creature. But honestly, both looked rubbish. I mean, if one day the planet gets attacked by mutant fish/dinosaurs then I'll hold my hands-up & admit I was wrong.... Starship Troopers was funny, & didn't take itself very seriously. This wasn't funny, or very good IMO. Agreed on Starship Trooper! Really a good movie... The sequel
  11. I see that... Maybe Tim2 saw a different movie. I don't remember seeing any sea monsters, just a mess of Starship Trooper styled bugs. ? . Now that I think about it though, maybe the 3rd thing I would change about the movie is the rating, an R would have added some necessary blood and guts that the PG-13 could not handle. Again I am still a big fan of the no hope ending though.
  12. Ahh, see, I didn't see any of the alternate endings. Just the "not so good for the young couple" one. You really didn't miss much, they were the same just the Coney Island footage after was a bit different...
  13. Which ending did you see? The one I saw last night wasn't very happy. What I wanna know is what the title means. What or where the hell is "Cloverfield?" I guess since the flick was produced by JJ Abrams, the "Lost" guy, there's probably some sort of geeky super secret message behind it... The ending was not so good for the young couple and the 2 alternate endings were similar, which I liked, again changing up a story to appease some test audience of i dots from bfe reaaly bugs me. Take Cujo for example, now everyone has seen the fluffy little ending where the mom and boy are saved and all is well, but read the book and the wee one does not fare so well... Maybe I will have to check in with the IMDB to see about such things as what Cloverfield means and if there will be a part 2...

  15. I was really hoping that Blair Witch was the last of this kind of crappy film making.... I abso-f**kin-lutely HATED "Blair Witch" so when my wife brought "Cloverfield" home from Blockbuster I was kinda like "Oh sh*t, here we go again..." but I was pleasantly surprised by it. Y'know how in Godzilla movies, there's always at least one shot of terrified people running thru the streets away from the monster, pointing up at it? "Cloverfield" is basically a Godzilla story told from the viewpoint of a couple of those people. Neat twist. I too just watched Cloverfield last night and I thought it was a great movie! I also dug Blair Witch so shoot me. Couple of things with Cloverfield that irked me though and for those who have not seen it SPOILER ALERT, but 1 too damn short and 2 even though I dug the ending, I despise the we made it even though it is impossible to do Hollywood ending, however, whats next? Cloverfield 2? Or is this one of those use your imagination things and write your own extended ending?

  17. Truly an excellent read from a truly excellent author. Try Boys Life next... Reading Intensity by Dean Koontz. Backed. McCammon is an excellent writer. As Martinsane suggested, go for "Boy's Life" next... fantastic book!!! Aaww shucks BC...your not so bad yourself. Seriously though McCammon should be ranked right up along King with his turn out of horror books into good ol' storytelling fiction... This guy is one hell of an author. Read his book Swan Song cover to cover without putting it down. 956 pages of literary bliss. Funny thing happened. I read through this thread yesterday and this re-ginited my interest in McCammon. So I have it in my head to go to the library to get a book from him today, but before that I was looking on my shelves last night to see what I'd be reading after Straub, and low and behold - 'Mine' bu McCammon is sitting on my very own book shelf. I bought it YEARS ago at some markets. Is this a good one to start with? I'll read it next. Mine is a well crafted tale of obsession and grief. McCammon is a great story teller. You should enjoy this
  18. Recently finished The Ruins, really great read! Here's hoping the movie is not a stinker... Also just finished Black Creak Manor, another entertaining read about kids and wichcraft. Just starting Tell No One by Harlan Coben, promising start.
