  1. So my daughter bought a record player.
Can only assume that she was looking to be hip and old school or whatever.
So it sat there for 6 months until she decided to finally get some speakers.
Her grandmother died so suddenly she had a bunch of albums to play, but she really didn't much.
So her birthday is coming up and we thought we'd get her an album that she's into as part of her present so she'd use the thing.
She's into Bowie, and I checked out the albums today.

    Holy crap!
    AUD $50 and up.
What the hell, I know they aren't as popular as CD's but they have put their footprint firmly back on the music industry.
But I'm not paying 50 bucks for a record.

    You see I remember records.
When CD's arrived I replaced everything I had bar a couple that I couldn't get.
Because they get fucking scratched and warped, and dirty and were never much more than a pain in the ass.
So the thought of moving back there is horrific to me, even if they at times have that reminiscent sound to them.

My daughter is on her own.
I know one day I'll hear a record jumping as it plays, and I'll be triggered lol

  2. Xmas Day here now.
We had a fairly big Xmas eve with lobster and prawns etc
Off year for us as the kids with partners go to their in laws on Xmas Day, and then next year we get them all, which is cool as next year we will have 2 new family members to enkoy.

Still doing a lunch tomorrow as well, but more laid back and chill.

Hope everyone has a good day, being invented to rope in non-believers like me to celebrate the birth Jesus.
I am comfortable with my hypocricy. It hasn't worked on me to date, but I guess there is hope...
I suppose many real life believers go to church and the like and pray away and probably somewhat resent people like me who just take all the good things from the day (time with family, giving gifts, fun and laughter) without having to deal with um, all the religious stuff I guess.

But we here still ive in a Christian country, so I guess tehre is an obligation somewhat regardless :)

  3. Pciked up what they tol dme were the last two Skid Row tix for Melbourne.
Show was resheduled to May so a few must have come back on teh market for people who cancelled.

Looking at GlamFest, but not sure I wanna spend 10 hours standing up in a club.
That's a long fucking time. Would probably prefer it on a winery green, or even a large backyard where you can sit and enjoy.

Again, I think discussion about mandated boosters is irrelevant.

It was making the first shot mandatory that changed the game.

Yeah, not to metion the restriction of working without the jab, that was the mandatory part to it.
    And it was fucked.
For me there really never was a choice.
If I want to travel extensively again you're gonna need jab history.
That said, I was always happy to have the vaccine.
Happy to pay to get another booster.

what most Australians moan about is how their liberties were stripped of them by lockdowns and restrictions.

This was almost entirely due to a disastrous vaccine rollout. Probably the worst of any country in the world.

By July 21 nearly 90% in uk had received a dose, Australia had barely started.

Mandatory or not. this is the reason why Aus has been suffering nearly a year longer than the UK in terms of restrictions

Well, actually, we heavily committed to Astra.
And then the media made Astra taboo and basically forced the government to look at alternatives and tthat put us behinmd the 8 ball with roll outs.
In the end we really weren't that far behind the rest of the world. Only a couple of weeks behind most countries, and well ahead of many otehrs.
But the lockdown damage done was pretty much mutually exclusive to the vaccine roll out.

  6. Can think of many off the top of my head.

Over the years there have been some.

Radio her player Missing You and Drive non stop in the 80's 90's and I hated both, but then 10 years later I started to quite like them.

Most songs I am not a fan of would be on the radio, so I flick stations.
Sometimes my wife will play Hunters And Collectors, Paul Kelly, Boom Crash Opera or other bands like them I don't like and I force her to change it.
And then sometimes she'll make me turn off Sixx AM, Robbie Williams or Jackyl, who for some weird fucking reason she doesn't like...

    Nice song. I like that.

Sammy recently said that he contacted Alex again to pass on some bad news that Michale Anthony got.

He didn't respond, and didn't contact MA either.

He can pick up a phone, but has something pretty big stuck up his ass.

Which is sad for MA at least, who has very rarely commented on any of the VH sagas at least poublically and was exited from the band. If he wrote a book it would be a good read, as it would be somewhat neutral, although you'd suspect slightly in favour of Sammy given they are still close and playing together.

But what's funny, despite all his protests that he wants to stand on his own two feet, the band name he has chosen is the name Van Halen used in their early days.

I get that he might get pissed off about certain things, but he comes across as a real dick sometimes.

As for the song,  it's ok, but sounds very generic.

Yeah, what I was illuding to.
For someone who doesn't want to talk about his old man, he sure talks about him a lot.

But by far the biggest dick is Alex VH who won't come to the EVH tribute party.
Eddie deserves that, but Alex is kind of a recluse now. Porbaly busy hanging out with Vito Bratta.
