  1. Well for me Fist First/Religious Fix is very average. And from memory only 8 songs?
And the best was Better Off Dead, which is a cover isn't it?

Anyway, PALED in comparison to What Comes Around

Hoping that all these bands that are playing 45 minute sets don't decide to play any cover songs.

  2. So they're kind of like Tuff, with only one real realease :)

Presume Steve Summers still sings in the band?
I have heard some of the Shameless stuff.

May have heard a song or two in the past I guess, the albujm rings a bell.

Will take the advice and listen to Leather Boyz and go from there, thanks.

  3. OK, so I bit the bullet and bought some Glam Fest tickets
Of the bands playing, Imma skip Wednesday 13 because they suck and shouldn't be on the bill anyway.
I've never really done Pretty Boy Floyd, and don't think I've ever heard any of their songs.
So that I have some kind of idea of their songs, can people who are into them here post maybe their best 6 songs likely to be played and I'll have a few listens before Thursday.

It's a long damn show with no seats for potentially 10 hours.
Was going to also skip Sisters Doll but I heard a new song yesterday and it was pretty good so I'll give them another go.
Might catch a bit of Crosson, because I've heard good things.

Another I got on Thursday...pretty good stuff...opening track "Prisoner" is excellent as is "Ghost Town",like "Hang 'Em High" also,my favourite tune has to be "Ride On" love that dirty bar room build up vibe, another good tune follows in "I've Had Enough" then the atmospheric "Unbreakable",it really is a nice surprise for me as I was never much of a fan of these guys...so kudos to em  :)

I also am a fan of this album.

Had never heard them before so I went back to listen to their first two albums.

    Expectations were high.

    And then....
    Well I tried, a lot.
Listened to each album 3 or 4 times, but really they are both pretty shit.
Then I started wondering if they changed singers, because the vocals were really bad on the first two.

Maybe the producer got more out of the singer?
The music on the early albums was good, perhaps a little too 'try a little bit of everything' but still, solid.
But n ot solid enough to work in any way with the vocals sadly.

So onwards and upwards, and look forward to the next release :)

  6. Ok, so the Project is a local woke news show that swings hhard to the left and pretty much all Australians hate.

Just saw this ad, where they are generating hate at a new level.
    Fuck them using Kiss,
Also, I should put this in umpopular opinions post, but I'd rather Kiss plat Talk To Me to Shock Me, 2000 Man or Strange Ways, even New York Groove.

Coming soon! All new studio release from Roxanne! Details TBA later this month! #Roxanne #newmusic #comingsoon

This is great news. Last album was fucking killer.
But that was like 20 years in the making, hopefully they've been able to put together some great stuff in a shorter time.

I think the way they see it is if they go out under a different name, 50 people might show up to their gig.

If they go out as Autograph, 52 might show up.

Serious answer is, the band name Autograph has more value than any of the members.

People might remember they had that one song that was really popular because it featured in Grand Theft Auto Vice City, but who the hell has heard of any of the current members? Simon is probably the highest profile name in the band, but Jailhouse is hardly a band even people from the scene had heard of. It is only the diehards who come here who probably even remember them, and maybe some bloke called Chad because he once saw them play a set in a local titty bar.

When you talk about bands like Poison, Motley, Leppard, Jovi, Warrant, Whitesnake or Ratt, yeah these bands have a name that people will easily recognise and go see or buy their albums, no matter who is in the band. But Autograph, Jailhouse, Pretty Boy Floyd, Roxy Blue, Wildside or Tyketto as good as people might find them, on a world wide scale they are pretty much unknown and will only pull in smaller loyal fanbases.

The way I would look at it is this. LA Guns sits somewhere in between those two lists, they still sell reasonable amounts of albums and fill out small venues, so anyone in a lower tier than that is gonna struggle if a band in a higher tier cannot do bigger venues.

Yeah, and I'd say Quiet Riot is also somewhere inbetween as well.

I think people who are still bothered to buy new music from LA Guns Quiet Riot, Autograph, and also a bunch of other bands that are more 'legit' as far as members go such as Steelheart, Little Caesar, Faster Pussycat, etc etc are just as likely to know about the music nop matter what the band is called.

These days it's really about the die hards.
And believe it or not, the fact that we are here even discussing this, mkes us die hards by default, no matter how much we dig the music or not.

Had never paid any attention to this band in the past but gave this album a try after seeing it on some year end lists.  Actually, I think I remember hearing the song Down By The River on their last release and thinking it was decent but never really heard anything else by them.

Anyways, not too bad of an album.  They remind me a bit of Collateral.

At the same time though, it feels like it's missing something to really elevate it for me.  It's a nice listen but haven't really found myself wanting to go back to it after my first run through.  I'll probably give it another listen to see if it grows.

For me, the 3 songs shared above are probably the songs that stood out most to me on my first listen.

Up until now, the total songs I consider keepers of their first 4 albums were 7. 6, 9 and 10
And of this new one I have 8 so far, with 3 undecided.

That makes them probably one of my favorite bands

Sweet Poison is a great solid album.
Would rival for top spot foir the year, with kissin' Dynamite possibly pipping it.

I can't be bothered to revisit the first, but I'm looking forward to seeing the new Avatar.

I was distracted/not paying enough attention the first time I saw it, and as such left feeling like I didn;t really understand what it was all about.
I probably got bored fairly early.
So I committed when rewatching it. lucky it had been 12 years.
Movie was actually pretty simple, don't expect too much from the new one.
Will see it in 3D as others have told me to.

  11. I guess my my top 10 in no particular order might be

The New Roses - Sweet Poison
Kissin' Dynamite - Not The End of The Road
Skid Row - The Gang's All Here
Def Leppard - Diamond Star Halos
    Sammy Hagar - Crazy Times
Butch Walker - ... As Glenn
Cats In Space - Kickstart The Sun
Rust N Rage - One For The Road
Ronnie Atkins - Make It Count
    Dynazty - Final Advent

Is that for a new pressing, or original? I suppose it doesn't matter: new LPs are expensive because production isn't cheap, and old Bowie LPs are likely expensive because it's Bowie. Do you not have any used record stores around?

    New.

Refuse to but second hand stuff for someone as a gift.
    Maybe that's snobby.
Regardless, even if I was ok with doing that, I would never purchase a second hand vinyl (read above :) )

just referring to my own experience mate.

i had 100s of albums on vinyl and basically rebought them all on CD.

Just an easier medium to play and store.

Did the cds sound better. No. Not in my opinion.

The vinyl had a richer more open sound with much more depth. The CDs sounded clear as a bell but more compressed in some way.

    Anyway everyone hears something different.

Hell I listen to compressed as fuck audio on a smartphone now lol.

The things we do for convenience.

I just put that to the romantic restrospective return to what you loved at the time.
Not sure anyone here is qualified to difinitively make a call, it's just personal opinions.

I'm sure I love CD's more because I can use them are frisbees and they still play the same.
The amount of $$$ I spent replacing vinyl is nuts.
Maybe I just didn't look after them well enough.
Anyway, that's my romantic memory, buying a medium that gave great sound and LASTED.

At the time I found it to sound overproduced compared to vinyl, but that quickjly dissipated.
