  1. They got too heavy and lacked melody and hooks as a general rule for me in recent times.

I saw them when they toured a few years ago and they were great, but it became too much like hard work to get into their music.

I need to have a look at this album, I think it was released earlier this year.

  2. Pop Evil have an amazing vatalog that is largely overlooked by hard rock fans.

Footsteps, torn to pieces, waking lions, trenches, boss's daughter, purple, beautiful, 100 in a 55 and more are all killers songs.

Last couple of albums have leaned a bit alternative and grungy, with only a few good songs off each.

This new one sounds great though, hope it's an indicator of a tlrerurn to form.

Yep, 100%. It's almost at the point where I dread when one of the songs pops up on my 2023 playlist now. Will probably start removing. They're technically keepers, but by the smallest of possible margins.

Except the last song, that one is below par.

  4. Given this 3 or 4 spins now and it's a really good album.

Pretty sure my comment above was referring to My Favourite Enemy which I now really like. Stand out track for me.

First listens can easily be off.

But pretty much every so is a keeper for me.

Only problem is that if above 5/10 means the song is a keeper, most of the songs are a 6 with a few 7's.

So good songs, but not much that really pops out as killer tracks.

Just thinking about it. I don't know how many tracks they'll perform, maybe three?

Nothing too obscure, just ones they're known for in the mainstream.

It's not my favourite KISS track and I hope they don't, but I reckon they'll definitely do "God Gave Rock 'N' Roll To You II".

I think "Rock and Roll All Nite" for sure also.

I'd love to hear "I Was Made For Lovin' You"...

...unfortunately, I don't think we're gonna hear "Hide Your Heart".

    Reckon it will be

    Detroiu Rock City
I Was Made For Lonin You
    RNR All Nite

    Go the Lions :)

  6. Yep, Living Colour a weird choice.

Mr Big were a good fit.

Skid Row are supposed to be coming back (I still have tix from their first show which was cancelled and then their second shoe which was cancelled)

May as well team up and get it done finally.

Having given it another 4 or 5 goes I really like this. It's way more pop than rock, which I know disappoints some, but they're catchy tunes.

disappoints me, but if the songs are good, they are good.

(speaking as a fan of Gun's phone number album :) )

I don't really disagree with that statement. To be honest with you, I might even include 1984 as being overrated, as blasphemous as that may be, because I don't think it lives up to being the amazing record it's often advertised as (though, I am admittedly probably looking at it from a different point of view than some may be, as I wasn't even born yet when it was released).

Yeah, I could get on board with that.
Jump, Panana, Hot for Teacher are all amazing songs.
I'll Wait is the only other one I remember from the album, which was OK.

Boston's self-titled record being there is straight blasphemy.

But I'm confused how VH's OU812 is the album they picked as not only being a classic, but the overrated classic as well? I mean, it's not a bad album by any means, but  I've never met anybody who has been like, "No dude, OU812 is the BEST Van Halen album there is, full stop. Don't try and change my mind."

I mean I'd say every VH record prior to 1984 is overrated because to me they are all pretty average with only a few stand out songs :)
