  1. Way too fucking young. Hopefully his past demons didn’t play a role in this.
  2. A statement from the Riley family: We are devastated to share that Steve Riley has passed away at the age of 67. Steve had been battling a severe case of pneumonia for several weeks, and on Tuesday, Oct. 24, succumbed to the illness. His wife Mary Louise and son Cole were by his side in his final moments. Steve spent the past five decades building up a rich music legacy, touring the world countless times, selling millions of records, sharing the stage with incredible bandmates and bringing joy to fans across the globe. His style was unmatched, influenced by the greats like Buddy Rich, Ginger Baker and John Bonham, and his passion for the craft was evident until the very end. But Steve’s greatest legacy was his role as a loving husband and caring father. At home, he was more than just a rocker — he was a Boston sports fanatic, a World War II buff and an avid reader. As much as he loved being on the road, nothing brought him more joy than coming home to his family. Steve is survived by his wife and son, as well as his brothers Michael and Daniel.
  3. Entire album is up on YouTube now: I haven’t had a chance to listen to all the tracks , but this one has really got my attention… loving it!
  4. There’s a separate thread elsewhere on the site, but for the newer members who never saw the original site, here ya go: https://web.archive.org/web/19981201065143/http://www.staff.uiuc.edu/~dharding/glam/ Some of the old links at the top are archived as well, so click away and explore a bit. 😜 Here’s the prior thread for anyone interested in that throwback:
  5. Killit put out a new single back in 2020 titled "Born Too Late" The guitarist (now vocalist as well), Nitro Knox, has put out several new tracks this year. "I Won't Let You Down" ...as well as the 3 discussed in this thread: Can't believe I'd never heard these guys prior to today...
  6. Brother Cane have released two new songs recently, “Blinded By the Sun” …and “Are You in There Anymore “
  7. Solid AOR/Melodic Rock... surprised there hasn't been more chatter about this one. Just ordered the CD from his website. Terje Eide Official Website Facebook Hailing from Bergen, Norway, TERJE Eide (vocalist, multi-instrumentalist & producer) first captured the public ear at age 16, as singer, guitarist and songwriter. His musical career began in earnest a year later, after winning a local talent contest. He later enjoyed a stint with the band Heaven & Hell, a rock institution in Bergen in the 80s. In 1986 he won the Norwegian National Rock Championship on national TV with the band The Heat. He started his own band a few years later. In 2000’s Terje started a studio project that later on became ON THE RISE. A demo was made in early 2001 which immediately raised the interest of Frontiers Records who signed the project in June 2002. The debut album “On The Rise” was released in 2003, one of the finest Melodic Rock / AOR platters of that time. A few years later, Terje put together the songs on the long awaited follow-up album, entitled “Dream Zone”. Now 2023, TERJE will release his solo album titled “Recalibrate“, a dynamic collection of stylized AOR tunes and polished melodic rockers served with a fresh sound production. This is really well crafted Scandinavian stuff in the vein of Spin Gallery, 101 South, Grand Illusion, some Blanc Faces, Toto, and of course, On The Rise. Not only there’s some wonderful Eighties pumping riffs and atmospheres all over “Recalibrate”, but also lovely lyrics. As example, ”Play It Loud” is an homage to the beginnings of rock music, bridging the old with the new. It comments on the transformation from analog to digital, reminiscing the joyful tactility of a vinyl, yet acknowledging the new era of streaming. The track celebrates that in times of change, the power and love of music never changes.
  8. Did not realize initially that there was this much “star power” in the band. THE MEMBERS OF THE EFFECT—TREV LUKATHER [GUITAR, PRODUCER], NIC COLLINS [DRUMS], STEVE MAGGIORA [KEYS], AND EMMETT STANG [LEAD VOCALS]—FOUND EACH OTHER AT THE PERFECT MOMENT. BEYOND SERENDIPITY, SIMILAR EXPERIENCES CEMENTED AN INSTANT BOND BETWEEN THESE MUSICIANS. EACH MEMBER HAD LOGGED MILES ON THE ROAD AND COUNTLESS HOURS IN THE STUDIO ON HIS OWN. TREV SHINED AS A SOLO ARTIST AND PRODUCER AND WRITER FOR THE LIKES OF HALESTORM AND DOROTHY, NIC HELD DOWN THE DRUMS ON TOUR ALONGSIDE PHIL COLLINS, GENESIS, AND MIKE + THE MECHANICS, STEVE CRISSCROSSED THE GLOBE IN TOTO, AND EMMETT EXPLODED WITH CONSISTENT VIRAL SUCCESS. TAKING THE CONNECTION ONE STEP FURTHER, TREV AND NIC EACH GREW UP AS THE SONS OF ROCK ICONS—STEVE LUKATHER OF TOTO AND PHIL COLLINS, RESPECTIVELY. THEY FORGED A FRIENDSHIP IN 2023 AND DECIDED TO WRITE AND RECORD TOGETHER, WELCOMING STEVE AND EMMETT TO THE FOLD SHORTLY AFTER. THE MUSICIANS CONGREGATED AT TREV’S HOME STUDIO IN LOS ANGELES FOR “BAND CAMP” AND IMMEDIATELY GELLED, RALLYING AROUND A SIGNATURE SOUND INFUSING STADIUM ROCK ENERGY AND SPIRIT WITH POP PALATABILITY. NOW, THEY COME TOGETHER AS THE EFFECT, INTRODUCING THEIR VISION WITH THE SINGLE “UNWANTED” AND MORE TO COME.

  10. Formed back in the 80s… https://roxxrecords.com/collections/roxx-records/products/chosen-stranger-s-t-cd-first-time-on-cd-ffo-stryper-journey-etc-2023 Roxx Records has secured the rights to bring you another classic Christian rock release that should have been released years ago to the masses, but alas never got the push out of the heavenly metal gates it needed. Brothers Jeff and Rusty Ellison grew up playing the hard rock and metal brand of music they loved so much all the way back in their teens. Heavily influenced by their musical taste of artists like, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Aerosmith, Rush, Van Halen, Montrose, Kansas, Styx and Journey. They would start off in those early days writing music and playing bars as early as 15 years old. They were really good and began winning local music talent contests and even got radio airplay with some of their early music locally even before they became Christians. Thankfully their mother, who loved them very much, became a Christian when the boys we’re in their late teens at that early stage in their musical career. Their mom would begin to pray for the boys and by the time they were in their early 20's God would hear her prayers and both brothers would accept Christ. Almost overnight they went from playing in bars and clubs to recording their own music and using their talents to begin their hard rock music ministry, and so Chosen Stranger was born. They would open for many of the greats including Barren Cross, Bloodgood, and Whitecross. Ultimately from that early Whitecross connection the brothers would become good friends with legendary Whitecross artist Rex Carrol. Rex really liked the brothers and enjoyed the music they were playing and wanted to help them. He would ultimately put them up in the studio with a small budget and get the Chosen Stranger music rolling. Unfortunately, like with many talented bands from that era, the band ended up splitting up before they even got their start leaving contracts on the table and recordings that would never fully see the light of day. Ultimately the band would release two 7” records early on in 1986, followed up with the inclusion of a track on the now legendary compilation ‘Underground Metal’ in 1988. After that they would record their debut 4 track self-titled cassette only demo. Lastly trying to give it one more go, the band would come back to record one last 4 track demo entitled ‘Death Walker’ in 1992 that was released as a demo cassette very briefly. Ultimately that would be the end of the line for Chosen Stranger, or would it? The brothers have decided here in 2023, to give it a go again and are currently working on new music, which is amazing! Until then Roxx Records has compiled all of the bands previous recordings into an amazing remastered, self-titled package simply entitled ‘Chosen Stranger’ with the help of Rob Colwell of Bombworks Sound and Scott Waters of NoLifeTilMetal Graphics Chosen Stranger will rise again with this limited edition CD package. Check out the first remastered track ‘So Glad’ and get ready as this will launch with a release date set for April 14, 2023 Video: TRACK LISTING: Chosen Stranger – Chosen Stranger (1989) * demo cassette only release He Won’t Hurt You I Wanna Be Like You Living It Up Guilty (To The Crime Of Love) 7” Vinyl Single – Lonely World (1986) - Scrambler Records Lonely World 7” Vinyl Single – The Light (1986) – Scrambler Records The Light Chosen Stranger – Deathwalker (1992) * demo cassette only release Forgiveness Waste Of Time12.
