I'll give them this: Romero is an incredible singer.
IMO this project was dead and buried even before Frontiers tried shoehorning him in, and I have no interest in listening to anything released under its name. I don't think his voice particularly fits the music, either. But that is a very impressive performance.

I really don't think she is that bad tbh ...'Crossfire' especially was a terrific album.
It was. But it had great songwriting and producing. Something we can't say of anything released under her name since then.

Lost me with the press release staring it sounds like Led Zeppelin, Hendrix and Pink Floyd.
Quite the range, huh?

Total The Midnight worship here but great production.

YESSIRRRRRRRRRR!

LOL, they can't be serious with this...

It's better than the last one and that's about as far as I'll go.

Bro I swear to god.
"Frontiers president Serafino Perugino had a vision...something something recruited fan favorite vocalist somebody someone...keyboardist and producer Alessandro del Vecchio...something something fans of [random 80s AOR band] something something...brings back the magic of the golden era of rock!!"
EVERY RELEASE.

Mr. AOR, if you prefer vocal synthwave then you'll like this. I believe this is the old Wolfclub singer from their first few albums, with one of the guys from Wolfclub co-writing this song.
It's definitely not my favorite from these folks but I anticipate more soon given NRW's typical single/album release cycle.

New video for "Where Do We Go From Here?'.
That's a great song. It sounds a lot more mature than anything from their debut.

Y'all already know my thoughts.
Crossfire - tremendous album, awesome production, catchy as fuck, one of my favorites
Everything after that - del Vecchio'd into oblivion
If the Martin brothers are back on this project I'll give it a listen. If not then I'm not gonna bother.

Part of the problem is that the sample sizes are tiny, so it doesn't take much to skew the averages... not many people participate in the ratings.
Oh, of course. I guess 16 is not that many for Fortune II. Coup de Grace has 50 though which I feel like is a good amount.
btw, what's the minimum number of votes required for the Top 100 page? 12?
-
Treat - Coup De Grace (83) (too low; don't understand this one at all)
Fortune - II (90) (wayyyyy too high, come on now)
Journey - Arrival (85) (a tad low, I get it but it's too low)
Vega - What the Hell (84) (also a tad low, still a top 3 Vega album IMO)
Yours?

100% will buy this album. Fave track from Zokusho? Probably "Hollywood in Headlights". Hard to go past that one.
That's become one of my favorite songs ever. It's gonna go down as a 2010s rock classic.

Yep, those lyrics are cringey.
I'm glad to see him back though after Frontiers screwed him out of Sunstorm.

First impression: This is not synthwave (save for the closing track, which is amazing) and it didn't really grab me at first listen like Monsters did. But maybe that's because they released half the damn album as single beforehand, lol.
It sounds much more stripped-down than most of their other work. They were not joking when they said it is more song-oriented. As such I don't think it will be as listenable all the way through as, say, Endless Summer or Kids, but its highest highs (Avalanche, Heart Worth Breaking, Energy Never Dies, It Just Transforms) are IMO among the best songs in their discography.
I'll listen to it again tonight. This one is already a winner though:
Come to think of it, their closing tracks are always among the best on their respective albums...

Haven't gotten to this one yet (going to wait until tonight for maximum feels), but this is a nice interview on the creative process behind the album. They usually give very insightful answers to these types of questions.
QuoteLyrically, "Heroes" is clearly a blueprint for people to connect, heal wounds and move on. Musically, McEwan has shoved the album into some interesting avenues. He likened his creative process in the record to "playing in a sandbox". Visibly impassioned by his shiny new music, McEwan said these tracks "lend themselves to being played in a room full of people, and having everyone sing at the top of their lungs."

New lyric video for 'Saints & Sinners'.
I actually like this one, his voice still sounds good if it doesn't go into the higher register.
But, uhhh, that chorus sounds awfully familiar...

Metallica - Load
I am embarrassed to admit this but the gatekeeping in the online metal community had a hold on me for quite a while. This is, in fact, a really solid album, with arguably their most adventurous songwriting ever and definitely their best production ever. It's too long and could have a couple lesser songs removed but that's my only complaint these days. This one is just killer:

LOL I was looking for this topic the other day and couldn't find it. I thought it was in the prog section!
Anyway, great instrumental section. I think I prefer this song to the first one.
-
This pleasantly surprised me. Sounds fresh and energetic and the singing is amazing! Very Scandi style which I'm 100% on board for. Can we forget about that album Treat released earlier this year and substitute this one instead?

Wow, totally missed this first time round. Would have been interesting to hear that album if it had happened.
Really interesting on La Verdi too. I had no idea that was the case. Can totally understand it as it'd be me to a T if I ever fronted a band, lol (minus the amazing voice). But yeah, not really a tale I've heard before when it comes to frontmen. What a shame it wasn't something he could conquer.
I'm really shy in person so I can sympathize. I'm a good public speaker but I fucking hate it, I get very anxious beforehand and feel exhausted after. Can't imagine playing rock music in front of thousands of screaming people.
What now disbanded bands do you miss the most?
