Did he work with Magic Dance on his last two albums, by chance? The production sounds extremely similar.
-
Pacing, what is it?
-
This sounds like early/mid-2000s In Flames with a better vocalist. I'm not really feeling it.
-
Is Magnus Karlsson still behind this project or did they give him the boot like with Allen/Lande?
-
Could be the production (why are the backing vocals so loud?) but Arnel does not sound good to me. He still has the range but doesn't sound like he's singing with much power -- and I'm FAR from a "No Perry = no Journey!" type of person...

This comes as a bit of shock, I'm interested in seeing and hearing this album more importantly I do certainly hope that every penny earned from this album will go to the charities that Jimi himself supported. May his memory continue to be for a blessing and he have a legacy of dignity and respect.n
Well said.
I am kind of curious why it took so long to get these recordings. Legal proceedings maybe? It's not like Jimi isn't a household name in this community.
I'll be buying it regardless. My all-time favorite AOR vocalist.

I was just listening to this last night on my evening walk. Very melancholic but a great album closer, especially in the context of the album's theme.

Loved the bands first bunch of albums but they lost me after Destiny....I do like that song so maybe it's time to revisit them....
They're a much different band now. Lots of people still living in the Tolkki era but their modern material is way more dynamic. Better production, better drumming, less repetitive guitars, fewer vocal theatrics, and just better songs. Nemesis is a contemporary metal classic IMO.

It takes balls to attempt this one.
...wait, that's not right...
P.S. Nice choice on The Unforgiven II, that's one of their most underrated songs IMO.

For those who need a quick refresher:

Their first album in 7 years will be out September 23rd and I am HYPED.
Here's a low-quality radio rip of the first single:

These are my favorites from the album:
After listening to it a few times, I have to say it's just OK. The last few songs aren't that good and the ones that are, aren't long enough. Also, this is much more straight-up pop than vocal synthwave IMO.

That's a strange photo. I've been a bit disappointed with the last few albums too, but always willing to give them another go. "Mystical" sounds interesting.
More keyboards maybe?

Love this track from the new Josh Dally album "Speak Your Mind"...
My favorite from the album!

Seems a bit poppier than At 1980 but I do like it.

You cannot go wrong with this band.

I think you all should check out Awake. For some reason it has become overshadowed in their discography (unless you're speaking to die-hard DT fans, of course) but IMO it's every bit as good as Images and Words, and takes a much more song-based approach than most of their ensuing work. It's one of LaBrie's legitimately great vocal performances and probably the last DT album without any "wanking" or excessively long instrumental passages.

In no particular order:
- The Glass Prison
- Octavarium
- Pull Me Under
- Learning to Live
- Endless Sacrifice
- Illumination Theory (might be a top 5 DT song, honestly)
- The Mirror
- Lifting Shadows Off A Dream
- Breaking All Illusions
- The Great Debate
- Strange Deja Vu
- Fatal Tragedy
- Innocence Faded
- The Bigger Picture
- Peruvian Skies
I'm not nearly as big on this band as I used to be but when they are on, they are ON.

First song from the his solo album coming later in the year.
There's a funny comment in this video about chipmunk singing but I have to bring it up: what is that sound at around 0:44? It was used in the last Timecop1983 and At 1980 albums too...

Not really a "band" but far and away better than anything else under her name.
