Special Guest: Alessandro Del Vecchio - Keyboards, Background Vocals
I lost my shit laughing when I saw this. This whole thing just reeks of another Frontiers attempt at cashing in on a hugely popular name of yesteryear, plugging in a couple of random musicians long after the original spirit of the band had departed.
Listening to that riff, it's like they were trying really hard to be Giant, which I guess makes sense when you hear this one...

They're back! First album in 12 years, will be released on June 24, 2022.
That's a long wait, but they've just released the first single:

That song sounds like it could have been written by Erik Martensson.

QuoteA lot of people have been asking about the Giant album that was supposed to come out this year. The album, "Shifting Time", is not coming in 2021, but rather January 21, 2022. All will be revealed in the coming weeks when we release the first single from the album and launch pre-orders. In the meantime, follow the new, just launched, official Giant FB page: https://www.facebook.com/GiantRockBandStay tuned.....Another band kept alive in name only by Frontiers. They seem to be deleting comments asking about Dann Huff's involvement so we are off to a great start here!

New The Last Concorde album. Really solid stuff.

Good album. It flows nicely. Not as many instant classics as from their golden era from 2012-2016 but much better than the last one, I'm not tempted to skip any songs.

Why do they all look so depressed?
Because their album is being produced by Alessandro de- *slapped*

I can't see how any fan of our genre wouldn't like this?!
Different strokes and stuff but I agree. Stack it up against the usual sterile-sounding Frontiers crap and it's no contest.

mmm. I'd probably agree that Glow & Cmon are the 2 weakest tracks (by no means bad), but dude really?
Had Enough might be my fav track on the album and 2Die4 is inspired. Brilliant imo.
You're right, I was definitely too harsh. Had Enough is a typical Vega anthem and 2Die4 is a great closer.
I don't think it will unseat any of their first 3 albums as my favorites, but it could be their strongest since Stereo Messiah.

Hmm, I dunno about this one, guys. The first half is amazing, second half not so much. The album could have ended after the eighth track and I'd be perfectly OK with that.
That being said, holy SHIT is that ballad amazing! I was not expecting that at all!

Sounds amazing, it's like they went back to what they were doing in the early 2010s but with a better production.
Those vocal melodies are SUPER vanilla though. I know LaBrie can't sing like he used to but I still hope the vocals are a little more dynamic on the rest of the album.

First time through this one and I can already say that this is their best production since Stereo Messiah. It really accentuates the drummer's talents (I think he's better than their previous drummer).

What on earth is this. It sounds like when people "chipmunk" songs in Audacity and then upload them to Youtube as a joke.

Softer than a wet noodle.
(The music, I mean)

ADV continues to appear on a ton of Frontiers projects, and his songwriting and production have become incredibly stale to me and many others here.
I do, however, like some of what he's done in the past. But I'm not sure if anything really blows me away.
- I liked the LRS album when it first came out but it hasn't aged well to me. Only a few songs (Our Love to Stay, Almost Over You, Down to the Core) are still in my rotation.
- Ted Poley - Beyond the Fade. I still dig this one. Lots of fun and anthemic songs, though I'm guessing most here don't like the duet with Issa.
- Three Lions. Really really solid and actually rocks.
What else? Groundbreaker is decent I suppose. The Revolution Saints debut was incredibly overrated IMO. Hardline has been mediocre for years now. The latest Sunstorm... don't get me started!

Pantera sucks.
-
Classic thrash doesn't get much better than this.
I gotta say, though, newer Sepultura is being slept on. Their drummer Eloy Casagrande is a BEAST.

That production sounds 30 years out of date.

The Harem Scarem vibes come from the vocal harmonies, at least to me. I'll have to look into this band.

I actually really liked that. And a video that actually matches the song!
-
Well, that sucks. Overland+Sall was the original selling point of this whole project. But if we know Frontiers, they'll keep plugging in random musicians long after the spirit of a project is dead.
The first single is decent, but it probably wouldn't be as good with a different vocalist. Those layered vocals are sublime.
-
Is ADV still involved?

Some stuff about vocal chains and gear that I don't understand, a maddeningly handsome selfie, and another mention of an upcoming album.
Doesn't sound like it's close but it's still in the works at least, which is enough to make me VERY EXCITED.

Top 3 release of 2021, I'm calling it now. It's hilarious how much better the actual bands signed with Frontiers are than their hodgepodge studio projects...though Degreed has been first class for a long time now.
