First song definitely better than the second.

Dagger stuff I received was the "Dream Stealer" cassette songs on a CDR (6 tracks), a rare live Dagger show from 1991 at HammerJacks, a CDR of a band called Unannounced, and a CD in shrinkwap of a band called High Bridge.

Got some Dagger today in the mail along with some other cool stuff!

Went to a local club last night to see my boys RACE THE RAT.

Well...where to start. First and foremost i have to say that this album is just not funny guys. Not sure why tbh....be it rushed...be it lack of ideas....be it joke wearing thin....probably a combination of all these.

 

As a Steel Panther fan it makes me sad that maybe theyve gone one album too far?

 

Musically its still pretty tight, but the lyrics are no longer clever or funny and the choruses are pretty basic repeats of the song title.

I will give it another go. But I know after that first spin that this has disappointment written all over it.

The production even sucks on this. It's very 90's sounding and not in a good way.

Was reading earlier about an unnamed artist that had over ten million (10,000,000) streams of their songs on Spotify and they ended up with just $4,000 in revenue. That's .0004 cents per stream.

That's a damn travesty.

Has this been discussed before and what are your thoughts?

For anyone interested, here's the story on STRIPPER:

Stripper didn't get much love in the local press. They were considered amateur-ish.

The local ROX magazine had a review of their live show and said they were terrible and hadn't gotten any better after several years playing out.

Fun Fact: They were originally called VALENTINE. But some other band with a guy named HUGO had that name and had just been signed to a record deal for their debut album.

Baltimore's Valentine then changed their spelling to Valentyne. They ditched the named and then became DIVINE MADNESS before settling on the name STRIPPER.

Their singer Sean Cip and guitarist Kenny Stoned both moved to San Francisco in the early 90's and released a bunch of discs with their new band SPARROWS POINT. (Sparrow's Point is a locale in Maryland).
