  1. Yes. It is not required of an out-of-state company to collect these taxes for your state unless they have a physical presence in Tennessee or other state that requires sales tax be paid, such as having a warehouse or division in Tennessee.

But, by voluntarily collecting the state sales tax for you when you buy from them, it covers both of your asses. In CD Baby's case, it acts as a buffer incase someone, like you or another, gets busted for evasion and then tries to place blame on CD Baby for not notifying you of this evil tax requirement.

Strange how a small "mom & pop" type online store like CDBaby does this, when an internet monster such as Amazon doesn't, though, isn't it?

  2. Wow...you learn something new every day. That's odd how 99% of the other places I buy from don't charge sales tax (NEH, Wishing Well, Amazon, half.com, Deep Discount, etc). I've just gotten used to not paying sales tax from online purchases.

  3. I haven't been following this too closely, but the gist of it is the son has cancer & the mother is refusing to take him for chemo treatment because of religious beliefs (I think the son doesn't want the treatments, either). The courts have ruled that she has to take him. I don't like the idea of a mother refusing her son potentially life-saving medical care, but I don't like the idea of the government sticking their fat nose in people's private lives like this even more. Why does this not fall under freedom of religion? The idea that the government can tell a parent how to best care for their own child is a scarey precedent.

  4. Cheers all!!!

    I think I stay away.

As I've said before in other threads if you call and talk to a person you're okay.

You just want to call to make sure it's actually in stock since they don't list their items as in or out of stock like NEH does.

It shouldn't be as hard as it is to get somebody to answer the damn phone. From my experience, trying to deal with them is a complete waste of time.

  5. Where does the guy live that you bought them from? Can't you send them with tracking info? That way, you just forward that info to paypal. As soon as they verify that the package has arrived, they refund your payment.

It would be a shame if a few of the discs arrived busted, wouldn't it?

Hey mate, I don't know the details but I'm going to guess it's from overseas and from my personal experience, I know that the cost to track a package with a few CDs in it from Australia costs you the earth. I'm assuming Matty-Boo stuck to his tried and true methods of not spending too much on these discs, so I'm guessing that the tracking would literally cost more than the refund, or if not it'd be far too close to bother. I think I got raped for au$25 to send two CDs with tracking. First and last time ever.

Dont diss me cos im tight!

    BUt Geoffy-babes is right.

And yes these cd's were from the US

How much money are we talking about? You could always send them on the cheap to someone here in the States, & then let them forward them with tracking info. Not sure if it would be worth it, but that's an option.

  6. Well im pretty much giving up on this one.. I cant win... well even though i have won the case, i can only lose. There is bugger all chance im going to send the cds back to this guy like Paypal wants me to do, and once he receives he'll kindly tell Paypal that its time to take away his money... YEH RIGHT! Like thats gonna happen!

Of course theres absolutely no way to contact Paypal about this issue.... so what can i do? just close the case and move on?

  7. what the helll??!??!

"After careful review, we have determined that you are eligible for a refund. To qualify for this refund, please send the items whose claims were granted back to the seller in their original condition and keep your tracking information. You are responsible for postage and packing costs."

Im responsible for even more costs sending them back to him?! and then im not guarunteed ill get my money, cos that dude will say he never received them!

How was the paypal payment funded...bank account or credit card? Either way, fuck paypal & just file a chargeback.

  8. if filing a paypal claim I would file 'non receipt', cos to claim 'not as described' is quite difficult I hear.

    after-all it was 'non receipt'.

you purchased a bunch of cds in great condition. have you received these? No... therefore non-receipt.

eventhough you did recevie antoher package from that seller, there items are obviously from non-related to the transaction above as there are no cds that you ordered in that package....

    :agree:

That's what I do whenever I receive something that's not what it's supposed to be or not in the condition it's described to be in.

  9. Well, to update this fiasco...I received the 1990 version & returned the 1999 reissue. I should've demanded that he reimburse me for my shipping costs, but fuck it.

I also took the opportuninty to ask some specifics about another cd they have in stock (label, year of release, etc) just to see if they'd answer. Of course, I haven't gotten a response...fucking hillarious. Looks like the only way to get Ryan to communicate with you is to open a paypal dispute.

  10. Samples are now up for Shake City...these sound really good!

    http://www.eonianrecords.com/b-shakecity/shakecity.html

OK, some of you will care, some of you probably won't, but I have been given permission by Steve (owner/president of Eonian Records) to spill the beans and let ya'll know that I have been doing some writing for Eonian Records. If you click on the above link for Shake City and read the band's Bio/History section, that whole piece was penned by me after cyber-interviewing some of the band members. It is the same piece that will appear in the booklet when it get released.

Additionally, I did some editing work for the Sgt. Roxx booklet, and am currently setting up to interview Strike Twice and write their Bio/History as well.

Not trying to brag here...just wanted to let everyone here know that one of your own has a small connection to some of Eonian Records releases. Now go buy all the albums, because Steve promised me writing for the label would make me rich and famous. Or was that, a bitch and infamous?? I can't remember...I'm so easily confused...

That's cool...nice job on the bio/history of the band. Any idea when the Sgt Roxx will be available?

  11. I won't be buying these. I have the originals, and I don't work hard all week to earn my money just so that Joe Elliott can buy himself another Ferrarri.

    :rofl2:

I've had a boot of the Forum gig for a long time (one of the better boots floating around, by the way), but it will nice to have a better sounding copy.

As far as a High N Dry deluxe edition, that would be kick ass. I just wonder if there's anything in the vaults from that era worth putting out. Wasn't there talk of Leppard putting out a box set similar to the Bon Jovi one a while back?

  12. That's the point in all of this. Be as vague as possible so that you have people divided. Half don't care and are satisfied. The others call bullshit and misled by the listing. It seems to be worth it to them to take the chance that the first group are the ones buying. But the fact that they are so hard to get a hold of does make all of this seem calculated.

That's it in a nutshell. And this email I got pretty much confirms that:

"I am not trying to scam you at all. I have both versions of the TYR in stock and thought I would send you the import version as it is a rarer cd. I in now way tried to rip you off. I sent the order right away. I can send you the IRS version tomorrow or I can refund you through paypal. Let me know and I will resolve this."

So out of the goodness of his heart, he decided to send me the reissue instead of the original, claiming it's rarer?

    Oh.

  13. From melodicrock.com:

    "DEF LEPPARD ANNOUNCES SPECIAL EDITIONS:

Def Leppard, Britain's greatest arena rock band, are set to release deluxe editions of the classic albums Pyromania and Adrenalize on June 8 (UK) / June 9 (world) / June 16 (North America). The band also headline Dublin's O2 Arena on Friday the 12th June and headline the UK's Download festival on Sunday 14th June 2009.

Having sold over 65-million albums worldwide since their debut release in 1980 and proved themselves one of rock music's hardest working and consistently powerful live bands (playing to over 50 million fans in the last 15 years alone), these timely Deluxe Editions are a must for any discerning music fan. Def Leppard remain one of only five rock groups who can claim two separate original 10-million-plus selling albums in the U.S. (”Pyromania” being one of them). The others are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Van Halen.

Both Deluxe Editions will feature deluxe Digipack gatefold packaging with expanded booklets containing rare and previously unseen photographs, comprehensive sleeve-notes telling the story behind each album and include images of rare single covers and memorabilia from the period. Liner notes come from Rolling Stone's David Fricke.

Pyromania, Def Leppard's third album originally released in 1983, was the album that took the band to the global stage. Produced by Robert “Mutt” Lange, the album sold over 10-million copies in the USA alone and spawned the huge singles “Photograph,” “Rock Of Ages” and “Foolin'.” The Deluxe Edition features a remastered version of the original album and a bonus disc of a previously unreleased 15-track show from The Forum in Los Angeles in 1983. Full track listing follows:

Disc One - Pyromania: 1. Rock! Rock! (Til You Drop) 2. Photograph 3. Stagefright 4. Too Late For Love 5. Die Hard The Hunter 6. Foolin' 7. Rock Of Ages 8. Comin' Under Fire 9. Action! Not Words 10. Billy's Got A Gun.

Disc Two - Live LA Forum 1983: 1. Rock! Rock! (Til You Drop) 2. Rock Brigade 3. High 'N' Dry (Saturday Night) 4. Another Hit And Run 5. Billy's Got A Gun 6. Mirror Mirror (Look Into My Eyes) 7. Foolin' 8. Photograph 9. Rock Of Ages 10. Bringin' On The Heartbreak 11. Switch 625 12. Let It Go 13. Wasted 14. Stagefright 15. Travellin' Band.

Adrenalize, Def Leppard's fifth studio album from 1992, followed the enormous “Hysteria” (released in 1987) and cemented the band as the dominant Arena Rock band. The album was recorded following the tragic death of guitarist Steve Clark - with Phil Collen recording all guitar parts - and dedicated to his memory. The album featured huge singles such as “Let's Get Rocked” and “Make Love Like A Man” and debuted at No. 1 in both the UK and USA (and went on to sell over 7-million copies worldwide). The album was produced by Def Leppard and Mike Shipley with Robert “Mutt” Lange as executive producer. The Deluxe Edition features a remastered version of the original album with a bonus disc of rare, live, acoustic and demo versions.

Disc One: 1. Let's Get Rocked 2. Heaven Is 3. Make Love Like A Man 4. Tonight 5. White Lightning 6. Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion) 7. Personal Property 8. Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad 9. I Wanna Touch U 10. Tear It Down.

Disc Two: 1. Hysteria - In The Clubs In Your Face (Bonn 29/05/92) 2. Photograph - In The Clubs In Your Face 3. Pour Some Sugar On Me - In The Clubs In Your Face 4. Let's Get Rocked - In The Clubs In Your Face 5. You Can't Always Get What You Want - B-Side 6. Little Wing With Hothouse Flowers - B-Side 7. Tonight (Version 2-Demo Version) - B-Side 8. Now I'm Here (Live) - B-Side 9. Two Steps Behind (Acoustic) B-Side 10. Tonight (Acoustic) - B-Side 11. Too Late For Love (Live) - B-Side 12. Women (Live) - B-Side.

Def Leppard set the world alight with “PYROMANIA”. And then gave rock a massive shot in the arm with “Adrenalize”. Together, these are a masterclass in melodic hard rock. Now get both with bonus tracks in expanded formats. Two amazing albums. From one great band."

These sound kick ass...especially the 1983 Forum show. :headbanger:
