  1. So finally got around to listening to the album (still waiting for CD to arrive but at least a digital version came with the order).

This is defo the best album he has released since leaving Skid Row, and is better than anything released by his former band (even the Erik fronted album). I liked his solo stuff, but he was always trying too hard to be modern and heavy, so there were very few actual stand out tracks. On here though it really is more of a throwback. While not quite classic Skid Row, it is probably as close as we will ever get, kinda sitting somewhere sonically between the first two albums.

The only downside for me is the fact there is only one ballad and it doesn't even come close to the two that featured on Angel Down.

Seb took a long break between this and his previous album, and I think in that time he has taken time to reevaluate what he wants to do musically. As stated earlier, even the album cover is a throwback with it being a painting his father started decades ago.

Hopefully any future releases will stick to this style, and not return to the style used on his last few albums.

Gotta say she sounds good. Sound quality not great but what you can hear ok she sounds really good IMO. Hope she stays on.

I think most people know I have always been a big fan of hers and Halestorm but was crytical of the last few albums (Vicious had too many slow paced songs and Back from the dead had too much screaming). She is an amazing vocalist still no doubt and fits Skid Row like a glove (but already knew that from the Slave cover they did on one of their EPs.

While I would love her to joing them full time I would not want it at the expense of Halestorm. Simple fact is Halestorm has a much bigger following than either Skid Row these days and even bigger than HEAT/Erik, so it would be a massive boon for the band to get her on board as it will bring in a whole new generation of fans.

  3. On Instagram where Stevie Rachelle posted the link to the story it was crazy how many people don't know anything about the bands recent history or read the article. Several people moaning how they are replacing him too quick etc without realising he has been touring with the band since last year when he was covering for a recovering CJ and that Nate and CJ actually became really good friends. CJ would have wanted them to carry on and gave this guy his blessing, essentially.

Fans of FireHouse and our readers here at Metal Sludge are all aware of the unfortunate news of CJ Snare‘s sad passing back in April and now the band have named his replacement.

The band had been performing with fill-in vocalist Nate Peck since 2023 when Snare had to take a leave to deal with medical issues and surgery.

Now the band are embracing the move forward and have officially named Nate Peck as their new frontman and vocalist.

Read the band’s full statement below as was shared on their social media.

**AMERICAN ROCK BAND FIREHOUSE ANNOUNCES NEW VOCALIST, NATE PECK**

With the untimely passing of CJ Snare, American rock band, FireHouse, has officially announced their new lead vocalist, Nate Peck.

Peck, 2023 American Idol golden ticket recipient, performed an outstanding audition for Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. Richie praised Nate’s performance saying, “That was brilliant…The best rock singer EVER that we’ve had. You’ve got it!” Katy Perry looked to the sky and said, “Actually, he’s SO good!” High praises from all 3 judges got him unanimous consent to move onto the next level of the competition. Peck ultimately decided to leave the show to pursue his career in music his own way: playing live music in Nashville’s booming rock scene and guest singing with national artists like Jack Russell’s Great White.

Peck was first introduced to Bill Leverty by Jack Russell’s Great White guitarist, Robbie Lochner. Leverty explained, “When I first heard Nate’s vocal range, tone and control, I immediately knew that he’d be the perfect fit, filling in for CJ who was recovering from surgery. I advocated hard to get Nate out to play at New England Rockfest in October of 2023. He learned our songs very quickly and absolutely crushed it at the show. I then sent some video to CJ and he agreed saying, THAT’S the guy!”

CJ and Nate immediately became very good friends. According to Peck, “CJ and I would talk regularly, a few times a week. He would give me vocal coaching, advice on touring and life in general. He was definitely a great mentor for me.”

Peck has been singing with FireHouse since October of 2023, wowing audiences around the country. “I am honored to be working with these guys and singing these great songs.”

FireHouse music will stand the test of time. Catch them on tour performing their hits “Love of a Lifetime”, “When I Look Into Your Eyes”, “Don’t Treat Me Bad”, “All She Wrote”, “Reach for the Sky”, “Shake and Tumble” and many more, bringing the fans the melodic hard rock they’ve loved for decades.

  5. "We are pleased to announce that the parties to the lawsuit over the Autograph name have reached an agreement. We will no longer perform as “Autograph” and will have no association or any involvement with Autograph or it’s founding members. Beginning on May 1, we will perform as a new band called “Autograph Beyond” with Simon Daniels, Marc Wieland, Jimi Bell and Steve Unger. Our live performances will provide a fun and enjoyable high energy RockShow.
With sincere gratitude, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated friends and fans for their support".

Had to laugh at "We are pleased to announce". If you were pleased with this outcome you never would have pushed forward with this lawsuit in the first place. If you were adamant you had the right to use the name, you would not be pleased with being told you can't use it.
Thank fuck for this, as they were not Autograph in any way shape or form.

  6. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/steve-perry-says-he-may-tour-1235015967/

Earlier this month, Trev Lukather and Nic Collins’ new band the Effect released their version of Journey‘s 1986 deep cut “It Could Have Been You” — featuring new vocals by Steve Perry. When Rolling Stone hopped on Zoom to hear how the song came together, Perry told us that he has other projects in the works.

“I just signed with a new label,” Perry says. “I’m very excited about it, and I’ll have an opportunity very soon to work with these very, very musically creative people. I’ll probably announce who I signed with very soon. That’s about as much as I can say, but I’m excited about that, and I am working on stuff.”

Perry emerged from a 22-year recording hiatus in 2018 with the release of Traces. But he didn’t tour behind it, disappointing many fans. What got in the way? “Well, it’s a long story,” Perry says. “Uncle Steve is up in age, and everybody at this age has some aches and pains and things like that. But it’s a really good question that I’ve been asking myself too. And Trev’s been busting my balls about it for a long time, to be honest with you.

“It’s something that I’m absolutely missing terribly,” he continues. “I can’t even tell you how much, but there’s been a big soulful reclaiming of this original feeling that I had about singing that I needed to get back to. I didn’t want to go out and just turn the wheel or turn the crank.”

In his mind, Traces was just one step on a long journey back toward rediscovering his voice after years of not knowing if he’d ever sing again. “My father was a singer that never got a chance to realize his dreams, and I did,” says Perry. “I got to tell him years ago, before he passed, that I was doing this not just for me, but for him too. This is the historical relevance to what I’m going through and rekindling, I think, about me and my voice and touring. [As far as touring again], I never say never at this point. My life has proven me just that.”

This is a topic that has come up between Perry and Lukather at many points throughout the past few months. “He can still sing has ass off,” Lukather says. “Physically, it’s a big task, even for me at my age, running around the stage for an hour-plus. It’s really when he’s comfortable. But I always told him that I am here as a friend and here to push him when I can, and I want to help too.”

“We don’t just talk about music,” adds Perry. “We talk about what motivates us, what is that deep drive in us that says, ‘This is what you are.’ And to not be what you are is cutting off a limb. I am starting to really feel that.”

The first order of business for Perry is getting into the studio and cutting a follow-up to Traces and his 2021 Christmas record, The Season, for his new label. “These new label people are so supportive,” says Perry. “They said, ‘We don’t care what you do, we just want to do it with you.'”

A great reminder of Perry’s brilliance came earlier this year when Netflix released The Greatest Night in Pop, which chronicled the making of “We Are the World.” Perry wasn’t interviewed for the movie, but he has seen it. “Watching it was a big bag of emotions,” he says. “Seeing it for me was more emotional than being there. I just remember being so intimidated by all these people, from Bruce to Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie. It just went on and on. Tina Turner was there! That completely killed me.”

At one point, Perry remembers going into a side room to grab a snack and try to collect himself. “Standing there was Paul Simon and Bette Midler,” he says. “I looked over to Bette Midler and I said, ‘Wow. Overwhelming. Huh?’ She said, ‘Yeah, that’s why I’m here.’ We had this moment. We smiled at each other like, ‘Yeah, I get it.'”

Watching The Greatest Night in Pop brought memories like that flooding back to Perry, but it also made him a little morose. “I’m sad that can’t happen again today,” he says. “I don’t know if it would be the Effect, Tame Impala, the Killers … I don’t know. I just wish this could happen again today for a great cause. With the times we’re in, it saddens me that the possibility of such a thing seems remote.”

We signed off by telling Perry we continue to hope and dream that he’ll tour. “At this point, I’m also hoping,” Perry says. “And it’s my dream too.”

    no.

the album only came out on vinyl in 1987

    Dead Planet, thanks.

It sells for big money on Discogs

Interestingly there is a CD copy for sale on Discogs for about half the price the vinyl goes for. It says it is an unofficial release, but can't be a bootleg if Discogs is allowing it to be sold as they always block them from sale. Weird.
