Welcome mate!
-
Yeah, Lindsay, based upon what you've said I think I'll pass on this one. I'm sick of bands releasing cheap packaging, crap artwork and CDR's.
-
Stevie Doherty-vox/guitar
John MacMillan-guitar/vox
Andy McCafferty-bass/vox
Joe James-drums
Paul McManus-drums
If you like stuff like Moritz, Garrison and Tobruk, then you'll probably like this band too. Unfortunately I don't think they ever released anything, though you can play a bunch of songs on their FaceBook page or here at ReverbNation.

Very nice, would be interested in getting their album when it's done.

I recently downloaded a collection of Blue Tears demos called 'Unreleased' which comes with its own artwork and the following tracks:
Call My Name
A Date With Destiny
Our Love Is Strong
Storm In My Heart
Kisses In The Dark
Live It Up
Rock You To Heaven
Long Way Home
Slip And Fall
Wild Wild Ride
Girl Crazy
Dangerous
Love To Shame
Everywhere I Go
Mystery Man
True Romance
Wild Wild Ride
Of these, there are 5 songs that I don't recognise. Does anyone know anything about them or if there are any other demos that aren't available on official releases?
Call My Name
Our Love Is Strong
Wild Wild Ride
Dangerous
Love To Shame
Didnt some of those become Attraction 65 songs??
WOW I THINK I ACTUALLY KNEW SOMETHING!
I think 'Call My Name' was re-recorded for Atraction 65 but the others I don't think were on that album.
Yeah, so is "Our Love Is Strong". The others are on the SunCity releases of their unreleased stuff...
Are you sure? I checked the track listings and none of these are not on any of the SunCity releases. Maybe I missed them, I'll check again.
-
Retro Active would be my pick from that list. I think 1993 had some great lesser known releases and not so many major releases. Harem Scarem I probably don't really associate with glam as such but it's a brilliant album anyway. Same with Red Dawn.

Yeah was a harsh and very unnecessary reply to your initial E-Mail. As you say Jeff they could have just been polite and said thanks for your E-Mail and we'll take your feedback into consideration etc. It goes without saying that CDR's are inferior to silver pressed CD's - they don't last long and in fact they don't play on a lot of older CD players, which is a good reason why the label should state that the product is a CDR.
As for DD Records, I've never bought from them before but have been meaning to pick up a few titles from them. Based upon that arrogant and defensive reply you received and the ban they have imposed on you they don't sound like a label I want to have anything to do with.
It's simple really, if your selling a CDR, state it in the item description like everyone else does, otherwise customers have the right to expect a proper silver pressed CD which will play on all CD players.
And Jeff, sorry to hear you've been baned... I know you were a good promotor of some of the bands
-
Haven't heard any samples though I've just bought a copy on E-Bay anyway. I liked most of the last album and going off what others have said I'm sure I will like this one even more.

Good work, keep it up!

"No.1" was a good Scandi Melodic Rock disc IMO, similar to Glory/Treat's early stuff. Though the heavily-accented vocals were a problem. Afterwards they ditched the melody for heavy guitars and a kindof plodding Euro-rock sound. Get the first one, forget the others.
Sounds good, that means I don't have to waste my cash buying the rest of their albums. Might check the others out one day but I won't make it a priority.
-
Nice work Dan, Mike, Ty and Pete. Best site ever.
-
I know the question asked was about the albums 'sane and insanity' & 'thrill of the chase', and I don't want to detract from that too much, but I've also been meaning to start a topic about this band and see what people think. They have released eight albums now and I've only heard their first effort - "No. 1" which I thought was quite good but not amazing, so I'm curious to know if any of their other discs are worth tracking down.
-
1 vote from me. Some very cool reading there.

Edguy have a new album on the way, their 9th in fact, and is titled 'Age of the Joker'. I don't know too much about it but Tobias has desribed it as "anthemic" and "melodic". I love the cover art too. Release is set for August 2011 on Nuclear Blast Records.

Nice review. I enjoyed the first album so this is one I'll have to pick up for sure.
-
For me, I can't think of any disc is worthy of 100% but I can think of plenty that sit in the 90-98 mark.
If I'm going to rate a Hard Rock album, I would rate it relative to my favourite Hard Rock discs such as Skid Row - S/T and Kix - Hot Wire. If I was going to rate an AOR disc, I'd rate it relative to my favourite AOR discs like Boulevard, Diving for Pearls and Blue Tears - all of which rate in the high 90's for me.
As for the albums that MR.com has rated 100%, I think WET, Treat and Journey would all come close, maybe something like 92% but none of these are 100% albums for me. I love Harem Scarem - Higher and the Danger Danger discs, but for me they wouldn't even hit 90%.
Other discs which would rate in the high 90's for me are Alias - S/T, Bad English - S/T, Ratt - Detonator, Icon - Night of the Crime, Harem Scarem- S/T & Mood Swings, Gunshy - Mayday, Richard Marx - Paid Vacation, Bryan Adams - Waking Up the Neighbours, ..... that's to name just a few, but none of these would receive 100% from me.
But rating discs is just a bit of fun really. At the end of the day it doesn't really mean much.

Another one I would like to download (had it but seem to have lost it). Anyone know where I can download it from or if they ever did release this on CD?
Sorry mate the link I got mine from doesn't work anymore, though they do have their own website you could search. They def didn't release this on CD though. If I wanted to irritate Geoff I could say that you should try and download "Losin' It" and not bother with the rest, but that would be harsh...
Found a link that works. Thanks anyway

Excellent album, track 4 (can't re-call the name) but it's incredible.

so, is it true tat Heart will support Def lep?
Haven't heard that one yet...sounds good though

Oh and this one sounds great too:
Forget Me In Vegas - Get gone, stay gone
Zero Zero

Yeah me too. I've been looking around but can't find any.
