  1. But you rated Savage Playground higher than We Don't Belong so your opinion doesn't count ;-)

Here are my ratings for the first and second albums.

    Life Love Loss

BOD - 8.25 - Good rocker to start

Arms of Misery - 7.5 - Good, but chorus hook could be stronger

A Little Bit - 9.25 - back on track with a killer melodic rocker

Captured by the Moment - 8.5 - very credible Perry cover

Just Imagine - 9 - excellent uptempo rocker

Story of Life - 9 - another very cool rocker with a great chorus

Human Being - 6 - weal link....OK, but average for these guys

Colour Me - 7 - decent melodic rocker

Catch the Feeling - 8.5 - another very nice rocker

We Dont Belong - 8.5 - atmospheric number - works very well live

Just Another Heartache - 9 - cool rocker to end

    Overall 88%

Fully expect the new album to probably better this by another 5-6% so will probably land 93/94%

I like it when a band improves album on album - it's pretty unusual.

Also production wise these albums are amazing and put most others in this genre to shame.

    Great vocalist and excellent live.

    Full package.

I like both albums but didn't find them anywhere near as good as what your ratings suggest. Good solid band and will give the new disc some attention but they are a bit overrated imo.

  2. I really really want to like them, honestly, and it's not that i dislike them either. Detonator is playing now and Can't Wait On Love is good track but along with Round and Round that's about it. I think it's because Stephen Pearcy sounds exactly the same on all the other tracks. There is no variation at all. The guitars are great but not good enough to outweigh the vocals.

What about 'One Step Away' and 'Giving Yourself Away'? - two of my fav Ratt songs come from Detonator.

  3. Wow, that's quite large news. In all honesty it does not effect me at all, but it seems pretty wild for the biggest label in "our genre" to be completely ignored on the biggest site in "our genre."

I read and can definitely understand both point of views, but yeah, just seems wild. It's a hard concept to grasp, that the biggest news source for our genre will be carrying on business basically ignoring the (arguably) biggest releases of each year. What happens if one of Andrew's favourite bands (say Harem Scarem?) release a new album on Frontiers? ;)

Yeah it could get awkward like that. Will this also lead to more biased reviews of their releases on the MR.com website? Or will Andrew not give them the time of day and not review Frontiers releases? I agree it is a strange situation and my guess is it will get resolved soon enough. But personally this does not affect me either.

  4.

What if Steel Pather had good lyrics?

That would be weird. At the moment they have brilliant lyrics and are thus a brilliant band. It'd be weird if they just had boring "good" lyrics and were just another hard rock band. ;)

Ha yeah I knew that would be an unpopular statement, but for me it's true...I can't get past the lyrics on their albums.

  5.

Love the demo tapes! Everytime I see tapes I have to go through them just in case... The majority of mine are local to the Pacific NW, I added Brigand Raid to Metal Treasures and started a thread about Crash Alley and since have found another cassette demo by them.

In the first photo below some of the tapes that have no band info on the front are: Broken Toyz (pink tape on top), due right is Big Bad (signed by singer) and due right again is Cats & Dogs. The cassette with the curvey cat drawing is Syngiin-Lookin' For Some Kitty (with my all time favorite non comedic rock song that is just flippin' hilarious called "Get Off My Hair")

This photo is 100 of the tapes I have, I've got a few more since.

Of note and not pictured above are KK Wilde (signed by the band), Early Warning-The Hero's Dream, Sedated Souls, All the Lemons demos plus the advance of Sturdy with Jim Paulson on vocals, etc...

Strange, my first band was called Singyn, but that wasn't us... as you can tell by the spelling of course

Some very cool tapes there...only heard of a few of those. Nice collection!

It's not often I start a topic in the Heavy Metal section but here's an album that is getting my attention based on a few snippets I've heard.

I know I've heard of Pyramze before but don't think I've heard much or any of their past work (just had a look - they have 2 previous albums listed on the main page).

Check out this song, really good stuff IMO.

    This one maybe even better:

  7. Yeah nice. I've had this one a while. Think I grabbed it from GloryDaze a few years back. I'll PM you fellas a link I just found. ?

Now if anyone can help me with finding these demos I would really appreciate it:

    01 Surprise

    02 Bratpack City

    03 Movin' On

    04 Not Physical

    05 Save Your Tears

    06 Living My Life

Ok, so, just to add to the excitement I have located another Stallion track on an obscure 1988 Swedish vinyl compilation. The track is called 'Echos of the Night" and you should all see it drop by your inboxes soon enough. ?

Ok enough procrastinating - back to my research proposal ???????????????

  8.

Dredging up a 5-year old topic to see if anyone has ever been able to track down a copy of this song... it's GOTTA exist somewhere.

Dan if you will do a little research as I don't have the time, and tell me who did the sound for the movie, I will use my wide array (3) inside connections in the sound and audio arm of the Major Motion Picture Industry, all fucking around aside, I really will do some tracking, and make a few emails, might even get lucky, if it happens to be a company that I have easy info from via one of my friends in the biz, I sure can beat down a few doors finding out, heres another avenue I will also try, what label were the Cowboys signed to the year they did that song for Airheads?? if someone can find that out for me, we can ask the label, since anything they did would have had to go through their label regardless of anything else on the planet, or maybe someone could even take that task off my hands for me, and i'll ask around after I get the info on the movie shit, If you don't want to get the info for me, anyone, I guess I will look it up myself when I get a little time to send the emails, so really anyone who can get that info, would be helping me do it faster, we can figure this shit out, no problem guys.

Sounds like a crystal clear plan to me. Let's get to work.
