Saw them live last year, still an enjoyable band. I do have doubts about them putting out any worthwhile new tunes though.

Yea for Modern rock !
It's a yes from me, modern rock to have a dedicated section.
-
Which album from Drive She Said, I didn't think they were rare. Even Thrills I thought was easy to find.

^^^^ What about Leykis101? He wasn't around for months, finally posted last month that's he's back and then I haven't heard from him since.
I REALLY FUCKING MISS HIS FUCKING EPIC LONG FUCKING RANTS WRITTEN IN ALL FUCKING CAPITALS WITH NO FUCKING PUNCTUATION THAT DONT FUCKING MAKE ANY FUCKING SENSE AND JUST KEEP FUCKING GOING AND GOING AND GOING AND WHERE EVERY FUCKING SECOND WORD IS A FUCKING EXPLETIVE.
nah just kidding he's alright but he certainly is a unique poster who brings his own style of posting to this forum.

Its perfect as it is & very accessible on mobile.
Agreed, the mobile version of the forum is simplistic but functional. No changes required.

I still say modern rock should have its own category and not be lumped in with "other music styles".
Yes I agree, the genre is getting huge.

Isn't this Apple Macbook Pro stuff meant to be the height of modern technology? Good stuff generally sounds fine through this. I'm a very basic creature, though, and whilst I stand by the fact that overall it sounds poorly produced to me, so far, i just cannot stand a bad/weak drum sound. I don't care how soft your band is - drums are drums. They're not tin cans, and they should sound like drums, all the time every time. So I will admit that my dislike for the sound/production does mostly stem from the super weak tin cans... I mean drums.
As for the "amateur" comments, I just feel like there is a hook in there and it's just avoided. And I know this "west coast" music is meant to sound like this (kind of out of time, jazzy and awkward) and it's a style of music I kind of detest to be honest, so I should avoid this thread... but like I said, I'm just a nosey creep.
And yes, Karpethead, I prefer Vega and White Widdow 100% to this. Rather than drag me into some stupid discussion about shit like that, just dig up some old Van Halen or Led Zeppelin threads and apply my comments there to this thread so I don't have to rehash them.
? you're a funny man Geoff.

If you doods have trouble finding the first two Eclipse discs I'll try to do some uploading for you if I can. Let me know how you go. They're definitely a must in any collection, imo.
I have Second to None, that was my first Eclipse CD. Loved it when it came out in fact I think I started a topic but I haven't played it for years. As for the debut I totally missed that one, but I'll sooner find a nice mp3 download before I pay $1k for it!!

It completely slaughters the original in every way shape and form, plus the extra tracks too. A definite must have in my opinion
I agree with this.
Thanks dudes. Will be getting this for sure.

I can't remember the ins and outs of the original too well to be honest ,as I only ever had a CDR... but the new version is very well produced in typical recent Newman style. And for the record, one of the bonus tracks 'Crush on you' is one of my favourite Newman songs.
Great I'll have to put this on the want list.
-
Can anyone comment on the re recordings on this? Is there much improvement in quality? This is the only Newman album I don't own as it became a little hard to find at a normal price.

Nice playlist.

Really, I was going to start rating albums this year. Can someone fill me in on how they rate albums? Is it each track out of 10 and then average it out or something?I am actually sick of rating albums to the point of where I cant listen to and enjoy an album without thinking in the back of my mind that a weaker song will drag the score down :-(
It drives me mad........
What the hell does it matter anyway what is better than what ?
I don't even think Im gonna rate any albums this year, just group my top 20 most played albums in no particular order.
I might single out my overall fav but that will be based on my most played / returned to (december releases accepted).
That's the system I use. And no rating for instrumentals/intros/interludes/outros..... etc.
Sounds good to me.

Nice, I like this band quite a bit. That latest song is great but the clip is cringe worthy though.
-
Sounds ok, a bit rough and not really for me though. Good on 'em anyway. The last clip there is my favourite.
-
"Meh" here too.
Thing is I like Bormann's vocals but not a big fan of his many projects.

I couldn't play the New Medicine song but the other two are great, thanks for the tips.
@ Justin - 2014 was easily the weakest year in modern rock in as long as I can remember...
I'd have to agree. Aside from the Seconds Away EP, there wasn't a single album that grabbed my attention. Though I did find a few tracks among the rest that I'd put in my top 10 for the year.

Yep superb stuff, I love it. Not sure how it compares to their other releases yet as I need to hear it some more but I'd say it's probably going to be in my top 5 this year.
-
Yep brilliant stuff, looking forward to this one.
-
I haven't really got in to the more recent FM releases but I can say that what I have heard from this upcoming disc sounds pretty good. Looking forward to this one.
-
Not bad, in fact pretty good really. All depends if you like this style of hard rock. You could make a sub genre of hard rock called "ACDC Clones" and these guys would fit in there nicely along with Airbourne and the like.
-
'Meaning of Love' is real nice and the other songs are good too. I'd have to say the first track there 'Breakout' is my least favourite of the three, still quite nice though. Great keyboards. Great work Ioannis!!

Excellent song, gimme more!

I must be honest, I couldn't name a single song by this band. Which album would fans recommend as a starting point for the uninitiated?
