In Western society, atheists are the only group who collectively try to force their beliefs on others

    That's nonsense. Athiests don't think there's a god. No more .

It's not a moral code, unlike religions.

Add to all this the milticultural/diversity shrieking over Christmas trees, the Baby Jesus, and other idiotic whining, and I am more than happy to wish everyone specifically a "Merry Chistmas!" and decidedly *NOT* "Happy Holidays", just to piss those people off.

Oh I'm more than happy to do that. It's sooo obvious all cultures base their events around the seasons and they've all stolen from previous cultures. Christmas tree comes from nordic countries and putting food on trees in the middle of winter to feed animals, for example.

Birth during the darkest nights. Could that in any way possibly symbolise the end of the year and birth of the new year. Of course it does.

I'm actually fine with 'Christmas' as it's a nice time to spend with family , freinds and have some downtime. Giving and receiving gifts also nice. The word is losing it's religious meaning in Europe even though the clue's in the name.

  3. It's a fairly simple equation for me. The odds of everything just existing are incredibly small and pretty well impossible. I find the idea that something exists from out of nowhere with the power to create everything even more unlikely.

Humanity has thousands and thousands of Gods. Why is yours the truth? Every one has a different moral code. Weird that.

Believe what you like. Just don't make laws that all should follow based on interpretation of a moral code from thousands of years ago.

  4. If China really do go after Taiwan things will get challenging for a while but  , like Russia in the Crimea, it's probably not worth the fight.

The future battles will be over rights to water as rivers dry up from overuse higher up and rising sea levels causing people to need to move. Look to India, Pakistan and China. Who gets pulled in , anybody's guess.

Im thinking the Government in control of everything. But I guess thats a dictatorship or Communism. Either or I beleiev that the Democrats would have No problem with it. ;)

The end result of winning capitalism is dictatorship. Middle the best place to be .

IMO the Biden administration is very left and would lean even harder left (complete socialism) if not for the conservative right stopping them. Shit is bad. :(

What do you think socialism is?

Democrats in the USA really isn’t left on a world stage.

Honestly don't know. I'm not really sure of the exact dates, but I'd think spectators will be a question mark until game day each time.

Victoria, you'd have to assume no chance of spectators. NSW highly likely by then... At least a handful.

As it stands today, if they can get into the other states they'd have crowds... Today. A positive case or two (which is likely between then and now) and those states will all be locked down without crowds. So honestly, you'd be brave to guess with any certainty about what crowds will be where, if any. It can all change overnight.

I don't know details, but surely they're not going to quarantine for two weeks every single time they cross a state border? I honestly don't know why they're bothering to come here. Don't understand it at all.

It's daft because there will be a huge amount of investment and then they'll end up cancelling.

Bitterly disappointed in the English team today. Loved what they were saying, and the notion the Ashes might be cancelled this year because Australia is an unvisitable country at the moment. But they folded and now they're coming here, participating in our fucking ridiculous quarantine rules and all. :(

I enjoy cricket and the Ashes is cool and all, but this country needs things like this to be cancelled to highlight in no uncertain terms what a fucking terrible place it is to be at the moment.

The number of sports people who've got Covid has always been way above other groups statistically and you can trace back any number of higher incident rates around Europe and the UK to sporting events. The recent end of the India tour was hardly a surprise , though I do suspect in no small part due to the players wanting their IPL payday.

Just not the right time to play this tournament the way they're planning. Is there any plan for spectators?

     Very funny.

Sometimes the darkest comedy is the funniest.

If you don't find a way to laugh through these times, then you'll go insane.

Perhaps too soon. Though the best/worst pub quiz name this week was 'There's never a good time to pull out'.

gradual, trump wanted it done by 1st May. lol.

hes a few months late ;)

Its the overall decision that is wrong imo. All parties, including UK and other NATO allies made this decision. Trump instigated the withdrawal for US and was banging on about America first etc etc so he's not getting off scott free in this one. He claims he would done things differently but that's bollocks sorry.

Its a mess though and I feel sorry for the Afghan people, especially the women, who will undoubtedly have their rights stripped away again ! its like going back 20 years.

500 years. It's an absolute disaster for women there.

  11. It never used to be this bad.

I think it may have reached the point it's worse talking about politics than religion.

Not sure I can put it down to one particular thing but I suspect the advent of 24 hour 'news' where opinion is promoted as news and then social media down to a lot of it. We're increasingly living in bubbles and not even able to hear others opinions.

It's tearing friendships and families apart.

To the informed ones yes but to the average person who don't follow politics, it's Biden (and his administration) who fucked it up. Not US.

I still think the withdrawal was the right move, the way it was executed wasn't.

Seems everybody surprised by the speed of the collapse.

Got to be devastating if you're a soldier injured in the conflict, or lost a loved one, and now see it worth absolutely nothing.

So because someone worked their ass off and made bank, passed it down to their family, they are no longer entitled to it? I hate rich fucks more then anyone, and guess what? they burn out the fastest, look at our presidents son for instance, or any number of the Kennedy offspring, they are garbage human beings, but why should they not be able to have the money in their own family? you start pulling back that curtain and we will no longer be a capitalist society will we?

Capitalism doesn't put a block on the amount fireman, teachers, or police make, and they are grossly underpaid, but it's not cause their not taxing the citizens enough, it's certainly not from that, those professions are not capped by anything other then bureaucracy, and I'll be the first to admit the US government is bad to the bone, all sides, what is a better system then capitalism?

The idea of Capitalism I believe is the greatest driver there is, and people take advantage of every aspect in society, but I'd rather have people plowing forward to get ahead of each other, then not doing shit because they can get paid to do nothing, just my opinion, lots of gaps and mistakes in it, but capitalism is solid for what its designed to do, it's base principle,

All for Capitalism. Just with some regulation to try and control the excesses.

Still don't get the generational money arguments if you believe in 'hard work' bringing rewards. Tax inheritance high. Make them also work and if they are good the rewards come, right?

The reality is the greatest indication of how successful you'll be in life is the income of your father. That seems wrong to me.

So Biden fans, do you hold the same view?
    Did he fuck up?

Would be good if it wouldn't be down to party sniping. Huge mistakes from day one and this hot potato has been thrown back and forth for 20 years. Ultimately the US , and allies ,  fucked up. To the rest of the world it's the US not any president.

Let's not forget who started this. Was left and right parties from the US and UK.
