I associate DD with hard party rock.
Well the album isn't quite as parttty as the old albums but it is an UP album!! An album to stick on and it will leave you feeling fully charged!
Obviously Ted's voice has changed a bit with time but it's still a good album!
Liking it!!

Amazon UK say..."This item will be released on 21 Sep 2009."
Hmmmmm?!
Jez, At last, I found another rock fan who likes cricket. Yay! What a series?! I had such a great day yesterday watching us win The Ashes!
-
They did arrive a few years too late to really impact that scene. I was a little jaded when it came out and thinking they followed the same formula as all the others.
But now, as the years fuse into one, I really like the disc.
I've seen them many times since and like all their output. One of the most decadent gigs I went to was PBF and Faster Pussycat! Talk about a party!

OK, the tatts may be real but do any members where wigs?
Just wondering.

>> Not sure if this date has been posted yet, but official US release date is 6th Oct with it being available on iTunes on 29th Sept. <<
Yes, it was actually moved UP a month (original date being Nov. 3rd ... well, ORIGINAL date being June 9th, but ... yeah ... )
By Oct. 6th the album will be on it's THIRD single in the States.
I think Steel Panther are supporting ZZTop at Wembley and Wolverhampton!

I've just heard all 11 track previews from the new album (as posted by Dan on the main site) and I have to say that I'm really really looking forward to geting this album. The songs are all very modern sounding, catchy, and they are certainly more in the melodic/AOR vein than I expected. Great stuff! Anyone who was hoping for a glam/sleaze effort will be disappointed.
I guess that's why we are discussing this in the Aor/hard rock forum and not the Sleaze forum.
I've heard a few samples and they sound a little better than solo Ted Poley tracks. Very clean and produced.
I would like DD to be a bit more 'spikey'!

It might be easier for me to not think about the lyrics that much since english is not my native language.
Same for me. And that is because English IS my native language.

I really think this is a top quality album!
Forget what Stryper used to sound like, what they stood for, the album rocks!

It's hard to describe this band. A bit like Accept? I'm not sure but I find their oddness appealing.
They have a classic ballad at the end of the latest cd about the death of the original guitarist. The ballad sounds a bit like Mika, dare i say it!
I can describe them...
Check them out yourself...

Listen to the chorus in this song. It's classic Lillian Axe:
Is it the same singer from Waters Rising?
He's the spit of Ron on vocals!
Tc

Glad to hear some new Axe!!
New album is classic lillian Axe. I dont think Ron Taylor is singing, but man, it sounds just like him!!

I tried the 'Shocker' on my girlfriend last night!! She kicked me out of bed.
I couldn't remember the words! ! I tried one in the pink and two in the stink!!!

We saw them at Download (Donington) and they didn't play one song from their superb debut, 'Bad Sneakers and a Pina Colada'!! How odd!
Every album after their debut had been progressively worse though! They were a good band who have become very ordinary!
The new cd isnt bad though.

Reading the informative sleave notes, it appears Coverdale split with John Sykes in a bad way! i wonder what that was about?
I just read Sykes has left (?) the new Thinn Lizzy!
-
I suspect their Japanese sleeves are as fake as they are!
-
I'll tell you what the sleeve notes written by DC for this and 'Slide it in' are superb and quite reveling.

I saw Metal Shop at The Viper Room in Hollywood. they were fantastic doing covers.
However, I dont like some of their own lyrics. Just puerile, not one hint of irony in them!
Obviously the production of Steel Panther in top quality but when the start lyrics that a frustrated 13 school kid could write, I switch off.
I know it's suppost to be like that, I just dont find it at all clever.

How sad for Mr. Coverdale that he thought he could do better by firing the band, who made 1987, and then the follow-up tanked big time. Ever read an interview of Coverdale? He puts down practically everyone he's ever worked with and claims credit for any success they achieve after having had the good fortune to work with His Egoship.
Well, Coverdale invests heavily in his albums and career. He re-mortgaged his house to make 1987. He has no time for wasters or musicians expecting huge salaries. It was make or break for him personally. Luckily the gamble paid off!
