  1. i got the Hanson - underneath cd today

Hey, Mustang, what did you think?

I like it. there are about 4 songs that i really liked right off. the others will grow on me but for under $10 new i have already gotten my money's worth.

I think in a couple more albums they will be a pure straight ahead rock band.

  2. Yeah......I love the guitar in it too!!! :D (however....I like the rhythm guitar better than the lead :).....but that's me...)

I've heard that Jamie has gone back to his more "raspy" style vocals on this one too!!! YAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I love Vic's writing style and playing style. I think he really missed out not being huge in the 80's. I guess just a little to young for that to have happened maybe? I don't really know, plus what little i have "talked" to him, seems like a very cool guy. I wish they could get some big time air play, on radio or video channels.

Wouldn't it be awesome if they could tour with Van Halen this year. In my own opinion it would be a toss up who i would want to see more.

  3. 2004 News

    April 6 , 2004

    Its CRUNCH TIME people!!!

A few weeks ago we announced that AG was finishing up their new album. Well its a wrap and will be in stock April 30th! Also, to give a lil idea of what to expect, here is a break down of the albums songs by Guitarist Vic Rivera on the new albums material. Be the first to have the album and pre order your copy now.

Breaking Stride – It had become apparent to me after I had written about half of the songs for CRUNCH! that our sound and style had undergone a bit of a transformation – significant enough to prompt me to write this little prelude to kick off the record. Right off the bat, I wanted to establish that the AdrianGale you’ve heard on the past two records is now a much different and more evolved machine than it had previously been - not that there was anything wrong with the first two records! So this is basically a setup for the amalgam that is to follow…….

CRUNCH! – OK, so I’ve definitely not lost my love for power chord riffs - can’t go wrong with a three-chord progression a la AC/DC! Only difference is here I have applied my love of pop music to the song. Think Shania Twain meets Angus Young. Musically, this is more dense, as with the rest of the songs on this record. Guitars galore! The message of the song? Throw away everything and everyone that is shackling you down and take charge of your life. A happy, positive little ditty! (For those of you thinking something is wrong with me – I haven’t quite lost my angst yet, that’s coming later!)

Faith – Not to say I am NOT a fan of the fast, drive 100MPH, get your blood flowing song – I am – but one substantive enough never materialized in my writing over the years…..I’ve always been a more groove oriented writer. Having said that - John Kivel, over the course of four years and 2 and ½ records, kept at me for one such “barnburner”. So here it is – in spades! Lyrically, I gave Jamie the ball on this one and as usual, he ran from one end zone to another and is now doing his little happy dance in the face of those who might question his faith in himself and what he believes in. A killer statement. Bravo. For the record – if you thought William Hung’s American Idol audition was hysterical – just check out Jamie dancing in the end zone.

Without A Moment’s Notice – It been said time and again, but September 11, 2001 has got to be one of the most pivotal moments in the history of the world, and it has affected so many of us in so many different ways. Its effect upon me was profound, and though I only reference it lightly in this song, it’s what got the ball going on my thoughts here. Life can turn around on you in less than a flash, and you never know what is going to happen to you or the ones you love. During the initial sessions for the record this past January, John Kivel’s father suddenly took very seriously ill, and there was a chance that he might slip away without anyone getting to say goodbye to him. Thankfully, he is on his way to recovery, but this is a perfect example of how you can just be rolling along and something that doesn’t even have root in your head can come down like an anvil. There is a little something for everyone to chew on in this song. Its one of the heavier statements of this record.

Tougher Than It Looks! - Basically, I thought I’d have a little fun with the sad reality that no matter what dreams or ambitions you may have, there is someone out there who is always going to look for a way to either exploit you or someone else in order to make their own wallets fatter or to fulfill their dreams at your expense. It’s not the happiest fact of life, but I said heck, let me have a little fun with it. Hope you do too!

When In Rome – Another humor-laced zinger, this time at the Orwellian, dog-eat-dog society we all live in today. We’re expected to conform to everything that we’re told to like, be it music, clothes, movies, cars, etc. It’s an additional indictment of Corporate America, and how deeply it’s sunk its claws into the very fabric of our lives, so that we barely have control over the true value of what being an American is anymore. Zombies we may be…..but we can break the cycle. So laugh a little and swing a little….because this one has got some serious swing and attitude!

Long Gone – Part of what fuels my songwriting is seeing what happens to people in their personal relationships. Basically, this is a song of empowerment, for anyone who has ever found themselves in a bad situation – job, relationship, whatever - but was helpless to leave it, until that one pivotal moment of reflection that makes you say….what the heck am I doing?

The Thin Line – Scott Miller’s music + my lyrics + Jamie’s vocal delivery = killer song. Scott’s writing tends to be somewhat heavier than what AdrianGale is about but with only a little tinkering we were able to get this to fit the mold quite nicely. It’s a scathing rebuke towards a person who has no clue just how far he or she has fallen from grace as a human being, and has alienated just about everyone that person comes into contact with. The message is somewhat similar to Reap What You Sow from FTF – and you can apply it to your clueless malcontent of choice!

Question – Musically and lyrically, the left turn of AdrianGale’s recorded history. A much heavier and progressive song than I have ever written, this one is basically the other half of Part of Me from Reprogram, only it addresses the fears I have for where this world is headed, for the sake of my son. Indeed, if you have children - or if you just have a sense of responsibility as a human being – the issues raised by this song should be at the front of our collective consciousness every day. If enough of us started giving a hoot, perhaps that could be enough to effectuate change for the better in this world. But we won’t ever know unless we try.

Freedom – My first true instrumental. The inspiration for this was my buddy, Staff Sergeant William Lonergan of the United States Air Force. He and his wife Maria have both been my best friends since high school; Billy was stationed in Iraq just this past year and thankfully made it back here to the States safe and sound. In any event, this is my tribute to him, and his mates in the US Armed Forces.

This Time - This one is a serious get happy, get up and dance tune. Very pop music in style – and Jamie, ever the craftsman with his vocal lines, had command of this one lyrically as well. What can I say – Jamie and I seem to have a magic together, one no doubt made stronger by our great friendship. As with “Heather Please”, this is another letter to his wonderful wife.

Last Call – Well, this one is…..the last call! It’s intended to be a thoughtful inspirational song geared towards those moments in your life when you are on a ledge but are afraid to jump into the pool for whatever reason. Sometimes the decision to move forward in life – whether it be leaving a bad relationship, leaving the job you hate but make loads of cash for the one that is more soul-enriching but pays less, whatever – is not an easy one, but you and only you have the power to take that step 100% without any prompting from anyone else. It’s much easier said than done, but when that step is made, if you have been true to yourself then you have no one else to answer to, no one else to worry about pleasing. At the end of the day, it’s your decisions and your decisions alone that shape your destiny, and you have to be able to live with the choices that you have made – otherwise you won’t be of much good to anyone else.

  4. Rockhead - Rockhead

Michael Bolton - Everybody's Crazy (With a hell lot of scratches... :( )

is the cd worth it. the one video clip i saw from looked like it could be a nice little rock/aor album

If it's ROCHHEAD then it's blues based HardRock with splendid production + good vocals & musicianship...A little too predictable however..gets a bit boring in the long run I guess...Guest appearance by Richie Sambora by the way

MICHAEL BOLTON...Well, it's Michael Bolton, but from his "rockier" era...Bruce Kulick on guitar & Mark Mangold on keys...Good stuff. Very melodic & very "80s" - A good album without a doubt!

sorry, a little late on responding

  5. it is the season. so far the rookie Kahne looks strong. Dale Jr. might be set to win his first championship and the defending champ is leading the points already. All three makes have something to shout about already!!!!!

  6. I totally can't wait for this album to come out. I've been remiss in the speed with which I've picked up the first album (see my Kivel records posts), but I will have to head to eBay and make sure I have it before the new record comes out. Come on April, get here!

you can order them direct from kivelrecords.com instead if ebay if you want
