I gave this a spin this morning while doing some chores around the house. Similar to the latest from Heaven's Edge this doesn't stray too far from the style of Babylon A.D.'s early releases. And while it doesn't come close to the quality of the first two, I think it's a solid album. My favorites would be "Looking For A Heartbeat", "I Will Never Break Again" and "Sometimes Love Is Hell".

I'm liking that first track as well

Interesting song choice as far as covering Journey, but they likely wanted to go with a lesser known track. I'm not a fan of the vocal effects nor the guitar tone. It's a skip for me, but not as bad as I was expecting after reading the prior comments.

I hate that Collective Soul is considered alternate. When they were popular they were promoted as active rock, which I'm not sure what that is but it sounds a lot closer what they do than alternate rock. To me, alternative is REM and Pavement and the like.
That's fair. And usually I don't get too into categorizing artists as everyone defines things differently. I think "active" rock was a term given to artists which U.S. rock radio stations are playing in their rotation rather than a genre in itself. But I recall Collective Soul, rightly or wrongly, being considered an alternative or post-grunge band in the mid-90's. And were one of the artists that U.S. rock radio stations were playing instead of many of the melodic rock acts that were popular just a few years earlier

While I enjoy listening to some of those bands, I'd vote no on including any in the HH main database. Especially the ones I'd classify as grunge (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Mudhoney) or alternative rock (Live and Collective Soul) as for me those are the antithesis of what I consider a HH artist to be.

For some reason I never really got into these guys back in the '80's and early '90's. But I thought there last two albums were really good and I'm digging this new track too.

I've found all of his prior solo releases to be patchy, but I'm really liking what I've heard so far from this one

I'm looking forward to hearing the upcoming releases from Riot V, Vain, Nestor, and Kissin Dynamite, to name a few. I thought the new ones from Honeymoon Suite and The End Machine were solid. But my favorites so far are Striker, King Zebra, Grand, and Saxon.

Rex Carroll was in a band before Whitecross but I can't remember who they are, and I think they got back together and recently released an album. Wish I could remember their name and if the album was any good.
You might be thinking of the band Fierce Heart. I've not yet listened to that recent album, but the one they released back in '85 was a good one.

Liked the first single “Silent Winter” just fine, but this, THIS is what I wanna hear from these guys. It’s Dokkenesque material with Girish on vocals.
my thoughts exactly, I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the album

I've not heard of either of those artists. I think the Dominum tracks sound pretty good also. That's one of the reasons I enjoy checking out everyone's best of lists each year as I always find several good releases that I otherwise may have missed.

And... fail.
Damn, I thought I'd hit on one of those. I'm throwing in the towel as you've got me stumped. Hopefully someone can figure the last two out before you reveal them

I'm personally stoked to hear the new Metallica in a few days time. First 4 singles kick arse imo.
I forgot about that one, I think the last Metallica release I truly looked forward to hearing was Load, and that ended up being a huge let down. As you mentioned though, most of the songs for this upcoming album have sounded good

I agree with those who mentioned there haven't been too many standouts so far. Of the ones I've listened to Creye's latest is easily my favorite. I enjoyed First Signal's new one as well. There are quite a few scheduled for release in May & June that I'm looking forward to though including The Defiants, ModX, Winger, Extreme, Midnite City, Heaven's Edge and Mystic Prophecy.

Here's a selection from "The Cars".
Another band synonymous with the 80's.
I've cheated a bit by posting "Let's Go" from 1979 (maybe a 70's Pop song of the day thread is on the cards).
I've also added Ric Ocasek's Killer solo track, "Emotion in Motion" from '86.
Let us also not forget that Ric Ocasek was married for 30 years to Sports Illustrated/Super model Paulina Porizkova.
Another of life's mysteries that I struggle to come to terms with.
In my opinion, their song "Drive" with bassist Benjamin Orr (RIP) on vocals is one of the best pop rock tracks from the 80's
