Yeah, not loving that song either though it's better than the previous ones. Production is still terrible.
-
Kent Hilli, Chez Kane, and Johnny Gioeli - yeah, I'll take that as a lineup of singers.
Here's the first single, "Need a Little White Lie" ft. Kent Hilli. I dig it.
-
I'm not digging the chorus on this one but it's a solid song. Nowhere near their best efforts with Erik but a good song. I'll take a full album of stuff like this, no problem.
-
I don't completely hate it but it's not good either.
-
That is A LOT better than his other recent output. Not a classic by any means but good. I'll take it.

I somehow prefer the current Def Leppard songs to the 80's stuff. Joe's voice sounds so relaxed yet powerful, I really like that. It's probably the weakest of the 3 singles for me cause I don't like the chorus that much but still a 3/3.
Everybody likes what they like but this has gotta be the first time I've ever heard say somebody they prefer new Def Leppard over the 80s version. Oh well, if it works for you, that's all that matters.

Man, I love Kent Hilli's singing.
"I Walk Alone" isn't my favorite track off the new album but tell me that wouldn't be a massive hit if it came out in the 1980s. Great stuff.

I know the meaning of AOR is contentious, but I was referring to it as I've always considered it.
"Adult Orientated Rock".
I worked in music stores in the 1980s and read Billboard religiously and I've never once heard AOR referred to as "Adult Orientated Rock". It's always been "Album Oriented Rock".
Edit: Wikipedia, at least, says it can be both.- 1

I have high hopes for this album. Really, really hope they're able to recapture the magic of "Revolution".

The Carpenters (I found them creepy once I found out they were brother and sister)
The Carpenters never bugged me but...
A few years ago, my wife and I went to see Bill Medley in concert. Well, actually, we went to see Christopher Cross but Medley was the opening act. Anyway I digress...
Medley performed "I've Had the Time of My Life" as you might expect. And it was wonderful. Except...the female duet parts were sung by his daughter. THAT was a bit creepy.
FWIW, Medley was incredible. Puts on a wonderful show and sounds amazing. Then again, so was Christopher Cross. All in all, a tremendous concert.

I've got their Greatest Hits CD. Got it yeaaaaaaaaaaars ago through the BMG membership deal. I definitely have to be in the mood for it but there's quality songs on there for sure and I enjoy it quite a bit.

Ya know, that cover of "Back in Black" is really good. "Panama", not so much.

This is one of the biggest irritations I have on YouTube. You see these comments all the time, and most recently saw it on one of the recent Scorpions tracks, and that is the annoying as fuck "They don't make music like this anymore".
4-1/2 years ago, I was talking to a musician friend of mine and we got to talking about 80s rock. I said to him something like, "Man, I wonder if there are any bands still making 80s rock?" We chatted a bit more and then I went off to Google to find out. Within a couple minutes, I'd come across a top 10 list that included H.E.A.T's "It's All About Tonight". "THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!!" I said to myself. Within a couple days, I'd found this message board and the various "Best of XXXX" year posts and lists. Next thing I knew, I'd discovered DOZENS of bands making new music of the style I like. AND one of them - Eclipse - even became my favorite band ever.
You're right. It's ANNOYING. Yes, it's not as easy as just leaving the radio on your favorite station and a new song getting injected into the mix every day or two while you're listening. So what? The music is still there. You just gotta TRY a little bit. Good grief.
-
My usual reaction when I see news of an Erik Martensson project album is "dang, wish it was a new Eclipse album instead". Same reaction this time I'm still looking forward to it though.
-
There's at least one bootleg available of a Skid Row show from April if you're interested in hearing how Erik sounds in a live setting with the band. And, well, he sounds great. No surprise there.
Like others have said, I'd rather him be in H.E.A.T. or New Horizons or some other project making new music. But if he's happy and making money, more power to him.

last time I saw them was on Eclipse tour and I vowed that would be it.
Basically a tribute band now anyway - can't see the point of recording new music when they just play the Perry hits. Always amazes me they play nothing from Revelations or Eclipse?? Or am I wrong. If I was arnel I'd be a bit miffed by that but then most US journey fans only want to the same 12 songs anyway 🙄
When I saw them with Arnel, not too long after he'd joined the band, they played several songs from "Revelation". I saw them again in 2017. Honestly couldn't tell you what they played that night as the sound was so awful that most songs were unrecognizable.

I'd be stoked for this if JLT was involved but he's not, so...

I'd tend to agree with this. Maybe part of it for me is that I mainly started listening to this band when Ghost dropped and I worked back to Coup after the fact. But I liked Ghost and Tunguska both slightly more than Coup. All 3 are very close though. I'd probably have Coup around something like an 85 and Ghost/Tunguska both around 90. It's really splitting hairs between them though.
As for the new one, it's still coming in a distant 4th for me. I really think I'd have it at something like a 75 if I were rating it. It sounds great musically but the songs just haven't grabbed me. I gave it 4-5 listens, tossed 2 songs into my playlist (Rabbit Hole and Carolina Reaper) and I've basically moved on from it.
You and I are on the same page. For me, Ghost & Tunguska are my favorite Treat albums. This one is definitely not on their level.

First run-through, no one particular track has jumped out at me yet but the sound is consistent with the last couple albums. That's a great thing. This is, at the very least, a good album, the dumb "Carolina Reaper" song notwithstanding.
-
I love the music and the beat for the new tune but feel the lyrics and chorus are a bit weak. Also can't but think the exact same song would sound better with Erik singing it. Still a good song though.
-
As several people pointed out in the comments on Youtube, "Starchaser" has some good music but the vocals are buried in the mix. Feels like it needs to be run past a different producer to get better results.

Ya, I love the song…Riptide is my fav off that disc, though…
"Man Overboard" is my favorite off that album but "Riptide" is great, too. If I really like a song, I rate it as 4 stars in iTunes. I've got 6 of the tracks rated 4 stars on "Tunguska" - more than any other unexpanded (non-deluxe) album or greatest hits compilation in my entire collection. "Always Have, Always Will", "Best of Enemies", "Rose of Jericho", "Man Overboard", "Riptide", and "Undefeated". Fabulous album.

One Desire - new song from forthcoming album
in AOR and Hard Rock
Posted
Cannot wait for this one. The first two One Desire albums - and the live album - have been fantastic. And the little teaser I heard of the new song was great as well.
