Little OT: I see Jaded Heart on best of lists for this year. I'm really enjoying IV and Michael can flat out belt. Are there other albums worth checking out by them? IV their best?
-
Ugh.... this is one terrible album. Jesus Christ. WTF
Bummer. What don't you like about it?
Huge fan of GW and will give it a listen tomorrow on Apple Music but have lowered expectations
It's stylistically all over the place. It sounds forced and disjointed. It literally has zero to do with Great White besides the vocals.
Honestly not surprised. I was hoping for something similar to GW but it sounds like that ain't going to happen. Oh well, plenty more greatness coming this year
I will throw a track-by-track review on this tomorrow.
Rock on man! I'll give my rating tomorrow after I take it for a spin

It's catchy but am having a hard time liking his voice. He doesn't have that edgy sound that I really love
Production is clean but lacks energy
Not feeling it

Man, I think that sounds great. Jim has a great voice with a tinge of raspness.
I haven't listened to his early stuff so I'm going to start with this record
From that sample and the word around the forum, I have high hopes
-
The guys involved do projects like this, but I don't know why they're recording these songs under the banner of Place Vendome. I thought the point of this project was always to be a melodic rock outlet for the guys involved. What happened?
Damn good question. I think the album artwork of this new record reflects the overall feel; dark and less melodic.
I'm not sure what to think of "Hereafter". It just doesn't flow at all where as Cross the Line has amazing flow
It's a good possibility Kiske is losing his vocal range and Dennis realized this upon receiving first samples
Ultimately, the s/t will be their best album. I'm going to check this out when it lands (pun intended) but don't have the highest hopes

I dig the guitar work in the first song and it's catchy
The baseline and the vocals remind me of the 80's in the second song which is great. Similar to Palace or Cruzh. Very melodic.
I haven't had a chance to listen to any of their albums yet. Is there a must listen?
New album is off to a good start

What's on the 30th anniversary of Whitesnake? Didn't I just buy the 25th anniversary or something not that long ago?
DC said something about exclusive demos and "more" for the fans on an interview he did last year. You might have. I know there was a 20th Anniversary on CD that had horrible compression and sounded like shite
Whitesnake might do a 1987 tour and play the album out

This really sounds like a 90s indie release production wise but can't fault the actual song yet again
I cant believe no one else is commenting on the production. Sounds like it was recorded in a tin can. A big hollow one
Marvellous song, worrying production.
I definitely know what you mean by the production. It's not as "clean" sounding as I'd like but it makes the songs more "raw" which I'm all for
Sounds real good. They are 3 for 3. I have high hopes for this group and album
-
Another interesting release to watch out for...so many releases on march 24th!
Yes agreed. I'm definitely interested.
Tony sounds similar to Ronnie which I dig.
Keeping my eye on this one

Not a fan. Since we are comparing them to Dokken, Don has a much better voice than the lead singer here.
I can hear the comparison to Tooth and Nail as I'm listening to it right now but that's about it
Pass

New Find Me?
Possibly this year but Frontiers did announce they are working on a new album in December. Who knows how far along they are so my best guess would be late this year or early next year

Haha I know it's not for everyone but it reminds me of my first gf who was a rocker chick and all the fun we had. Plus, it's a funky song and nothing on the album sounds like it

Really? Every link or YT vid ive clicked on so far is just synths in the background. Yeah its pleasant enough but basically pop music. Not a problem no, but then again not really my style either.
Definitely synth heavy, obviously, as is a lot of AOR. But listen to Magic Dance or Kristine. Strong guitar presence on those two.
Thanks for the suggestions Geoff. I've never heard of either Magic Dance or Kristine so they immediately go into the Need to Listen to playlist. I'm really enjoying the mix of synth and guitar in the Vanishings album. Sounds great.
I wouldn't consider it pop either. Much different vibe. Geoff explains it well.

This song has grown on me more and more with each listen. One of my favourite songs of the year. The Midnight album is a real good one, for some pretty damn cool lyrics... especially for one of these synthwave albums;
One of my favourites, too.
I'm a huge fan of The Midnight and picked up their vinyl. Gunship is another synthwave group or duo I really enjoy and the vinyl is absolutely killer.
Here is a taste with an awesome video:
This album is perfect for those late night drives.

Hi,
Who was the band between White Lion and Eclipse that you decided were no longer any good?
Journey (am I pullin your leg?)
Geoff says nudity is essential and Stefan doesn't agree. So a banana hammock will do, got it
-
Mr. M here. 27, in the Seattle area. Lover of 80's bluesy and hard rock and a recent love for the AOR scene. It's absolutely fantastic there are bands out there making music similar to the 80's.
Some favorites:
Whitesnake
Great White
Def Leppard
Dokken
Mr. Big
Night Ranger
Toto
White Lion
Eclipse
Revolution Saints
Nordic Union
The Defiants
Wigelius
Find Me
H.E.A.T.
I'm huge into vinyl with a Kenwood KD-5066 and looking to upgrade to a Dual 1229 in the near future
I'll fit right in here
Keep up the great work here ladies and gentlemen!

When did Joel Hoekstra leave?
Back in 14 to join Whitesnake for the Purple Album (and full time).
Sounds like classic NR which is great.
Jack Russell's Great White signs with Frontiers

My review:
1. Sign of the Times ---> 7
2. She Moves Me ---> 8
3. Crazy ---> 6
4. Love Don't Live Here ---> 8
5. My Addiction ---> 5
6. Anything for You ---> 4
7. He Saw it Comin' ---> 5
8. Don't Let Me Go ---> 6
9. Spy vs Spy ---> 5
10. Blame it on the Night ---> 8
11. Godspeed ---> 4
Total: 60%
More thoughts:
The singles were the "best" songs on the album
If your going to write a ballad, listen to track 6 and do it differently
The band really should have had a different name as Great White's heritage is no where to be found
Jack is getting older and the high notes aren't as friendly as they used to be
Overall: Disappointing and a very forgettable album
After thinking about it more: it's like they went in without listening to GW's records and songs that made them great and came up with this
