Is it out already? they haven't sent mine...think they said 27th..then it'll take a few weeks to get to me :(

although on plus side it should be available on my bandcamp order this weekend then :)

Yeah, it's on spotify at least.

Easily my surprise of the year so far.  I figured I'd give it one listen and be done with it but I've been playing it all day.  Just some catchy tunes.  I hear touches of Def Leppard in spots on this with some of the riffs, backing vocals, etc.  It's kind of like X era Def Leppard though lol.

Either way, nice little change of pace and I think this would be in my top 5 so far this year if I were doing one.

  2. I remember checking these guys out back when their first album came out 7 years ago.  Thought there were a few decent tunes on it but I guess they fell off my radar after all this time.  I remember a couple singles  a couple years ago that never really grabbed me much but haven't heard much since.  I really didn't even know they were still a band.

New songs sounding pretty good though....Golden Tongue has kind of a cool groove to it.

Gonna have to check this album out.

  3. Meh.  I don't immediately hate it like I did with Absurd so maybe that's a positive.  And I can at least hear some Use Your Illusion type vibes a little bit in that song in spots which I think is at least making it listenable.

But I can also see why it was a leftover.  Just not a very memorable tune.

I'm always going to feel like this band left a ton of meat on the bone.  They were so good with Appetite and the Illusion albums and then it's been virtually nothing the past 30 years.

Here's a question for the music junkies on here: Are there any musicians in our genre whom you like their solo releases better than their band output?

For me, there's just something about solo albums that usually don't work for me.  I don't know what it is exactly but as I look at my CD shelf, I don't have a single solo album on it.  I guess the closest one I have are some Daughtry albums but he's essentially been a solo artist right from the start.

I guess one recent solo artist that broke away from a band that has been pretty good is Ronnie Atkins....But I still prefer the Pretty Maids output to his solo stuff.

  5. New tune out titled If You Want Me Too...can hear it here.  Also has album details at this link:

    https://stationnyc.bandcamp.com/album/and-time-goes-on?from=fanpub_fb

Dig the tune.  For me this one is probably my favorite song I've heard from them maybe since All You Need Is A Heartbeat.  Not sure about the production though...seems a little bit iffy but I only listened on crappy computer speakers.  Still though, I wish these guys would hook up with a Chris Laney or somebody like that to really elevate their sound.  Either way though, good tune and glad it's been two songs without a ballad.  Their last album kind of lost me as it felt like half of it was ballads and for me their best stuff are the melodic rockers.

    Great song!

But... is anyone else feeling like they're seeing Alexander Strandell everywhere these days?

Yes, Strandell is everywhere.  And I personally just don't like his vocals.  I don't know why exactly...Just too accented or something.  Once that sort of thing bothers you it's hard to unhear it.

Too bad as the music itself here is fantastic and Nick Hogg is clearly super talented and knows how to nail the 80's vibe.  And happy for him he got signed to Frontiers.

But for me, their first 2 albums were my favorites.

Sometimes great songs get overlooked or it just becomes a toss up between which songs do and do not make the cut.

Must be hard for any artist to select a final track listing for an album knowing that most artists will record a whole bunch of other songs for every album.

For instance, the song Thin Disguise never should have been left off the album Cherry Pie by Warrant, most people agree that and it even became a regular in their set lists and best of's.

Agree 100% on Thin Disguise.   How the heck to they put that Train Train song and Ode To Tipper Gore on Cherry Pie over that song?  They should've just struck those 2 songs and replaced them with Thin Disguise.

As for the Midnite City bonus track, it feels pretty similar to me as Beginning of the End and It's Not Me It's You which I'd guess is probably why it ended up as bonus track material.  It's an okay song but I like the bonus track from the last album a bit more (Girls of Tokyo).

Either way, it's nice that they do an original track at all for the Japan bonus track.  It seems like many albums these days just having acoustic or alternate versions of songs already on the album which never interests me much.

    need to listen more.

Songs sounded good but my major complaint was the vocals - they are so buried in the mix that it is v annoying. Straining to hear the main vocals and backing vocals are inaudible.

Compare this to say We Don't Belong album which sounds amazing with up front and clear vocal mix

    Agree.

To me, this album kind of has a rushed feel to it or something and mostly sort of just feels like lesser versions of stuff they've done before.

They're still a fantastic band.  I just feel like this band should be capable of better.  They have a phenomenal vocalist and we know they can kill it musically.  It really just comes down to the songs.  And the songs here aren't grabbing me very much.

I think Ride Along is probably my favorite song here if I had to pick one.  This Is Love is okay, Don't Be A Stanger is an alright ballad.  I don't mind Resist The Urge and For You....but that's about it for me.  And honestly, I'm not sure any of these songs will make it to my main favorites playlist.  There's 5 or 6 songs from the last album in that playlist.

I feel like maybe these guys should try working with a producer to bring some fresh ideas....maybe somebody like Jona Tee for example.

  9. Probably will be in the minority here but feeling about the same way after listening to the album as I did after hearing the singles.  Just not grabbing me very much.

I thought their last album was fantastic and is probably my second favorite album of theirs behind Dead But Not Forgotten.  Lot's of catchy, melodic, commercial type stuff that I could envision hearing on radio if radio didn't suck.  Into The Fire, Higher, Falling Down, Lost in Paradise, Turn Back were my highlights but the whole album (outside maybe Radio) was very good.

This album though, I'm just not feeling it.  Have only had one listen but initially feeling like this might be my least favorite album of theirs.  Just not finding much to be all that memorable or catchy.

Maybe I'm just not in the right mood or something lol.  I'll give it a couple more listens though and maybe some songs will click.

Arrived today...excellent disc at first run through...will get more spins as I'm off work for a few days :)

Interested to check out the album.

I've liked plenty of these guys output but the singles so far haven't resonated much with me for some reason.

  11. Pretty standard Eclipse song IMO.  Solid song but at the same time I can't say it's striking me all that much.  I guess my problem is this just sounds like a lot of other stuff they've done and don't really see this standing out in their catalog at all.

I thought I had read they were trying new things on this album but not really hearing that so far.

Will still be checking out the album though and album samples sounded pretty good.

  12.

New song out from Station.  Think there is an album on the way too out October 13.  Can check it out at this link or I know it's on Spotify also.

This band has been very hit and miss for me on their last couple albums but I'm liking this tune.  For me they're at their best when they're just doing melodic rockers and not messing around with ballads.

Without doubt, amore consistent band ,Shiraz had something going with Carnival Days/Vibration but for me didnt carry it on to the Shades album :(

Agree 100%.  That Shades album will go down as one of my most disappointing albums ever.  I had such high expectations after Carnival Days and Vibration but they were blown out of the water as i didn't like much about Shades at all outside of maybe Scream.

  14. My CD showed up today....loving it!!!

Digging the overall sound...Chris Laney nailed it IMO!  Just has a bigger sound to me than their previous stuff and a cool, retro vibe to it all.

Standout tracks for me so in addition to the singles are the opener Ready to Go and the closer Like There's No Tomorrow.

Probably no surprise but easily slotting into my #1 spot so far this year ahead of the Defiants.

I like it all except Miracle

    Same.

I don't hate Miracle...It's okay I guess.  But I've taken that song out of the Spotify playlist as it's pretty boring and a momentum killer.

The album flows much better with that song removed IMO.

I think it all boils down to this.

The Republican Candidate will be Trump.

The Election will be decided on whether you're pro Trump or anti Trump.

It doesn't matter who the Democratic Candidate is.

If you're a Trump supporter, you'll vote for him regardless.

If you're not, then even if the Democratic Candidate is Kim Kardashian, you'll still give her you're vote over Trump.

I think the biggest boost to Trump's 2024 campaign has been the absolute shit show that is the Biden administration.

Absolutely no doubt that this Biden administration has been one of the worst Presidencies I can remember.  Honestly, the last 2 Presidencies have both been about as bad as I can ever remember....both absolute shit shows in different ways.

Like you said though, the only reason Biden won was because he wasn't Trump.  People were just tired of the Trump circus.

It's just sad what the Presidency has turned into in this Country and it's too bad no competent people are interested in the position.  It feel like it used to be something people strived to achieve and now nobody even wants the job.
