In the past it was the opposite, the bonus tracks and stuff were often on the first limited issues, thus rewarding the main fans who buy the album at launch. Now they only put extra tracks on deluxe editions or reissues. I feel cynical and think it is a ploy to just get more money out of the core group of fans who support the artist no matter what, trying to get them to buy the same album multiple times.

I feel like if I were artists who worked hard to create an album, I think I'd offer very limited/deluxe runs of an album with a bonus track or two.  Sell those for some marked up price, signed by the band on your website direct to fans.  Heck, you could probably sell those CD's/Vinyl for $25-$50....some range like that which is about double or triple what you normally would sell for.  And make sure they're jewel cases for the CD's and that the bonus tracks aren't just covers or alternate versions of a song already on the album lol!  I'd even number those releases for however many were printed like 1 out of 250 or however many were printed on the "limited" run.  Just don't make the "limited" run 5,000 CD's or something lol.

Then let the "regular" releases go to amazon or wherever else without the bonus tracks for the normal prices and chuck those in cardboard sleeves if you want too lol.

Heck, I'd have no problem paying double the cost of a regular CD for a limited issue CD like that, signed by the band.  I buy these things mostly as collectible items anyways these days, so do something to enhance the collectability and reward those fans the might want a more premium product.

I just think artists/labels should think outside the box a bit more these days.  Put out limited run physical products, maybe offer people a trial membership to some band you tube page or other web site/group where you post behind the scenes stuff with the purchase of an album, or give them a discount to your store on a future purchase.....Or whatever other ideas might make sense.

Couldnt agree more with this probably being the "heaviest" song on the album

And yeah I agree, Jon may be a bit of a ruthless business man when it comes to the band, but he is a decent bloke. The amount of work he has done for the homeless is admirable.

I know his voice is shot and he is having some kind of throat surgery that he says may end his touring career but I don't think that is really an excuse why his music has been so mid the last decade or so.

As for Richie, I would love to see him back in the band but I don't think he would fix anything. I mean Phil is a great guitarist, and he is being wasted in the band and Richie has barely put anything out since leaving the band, with the only thing I can think of being that awful RSO album he did with Orianthi, where two fantastic guitarists seemed to almost give up on actually playing guitar.

His last solo album was twelve years ago when he was still in the band, and even that was a let down with only a few stand out tracks on it.

Plus his history with alcohol has done him no favours.

Agree 100% with the Richie part.  Lots of people ring the bell about him coming back and while that would be fun to see live, I don't think it would make any difference with the music.  I mean, it's not like the last couple albums with Richie were any better.

I think their only hope would be to work with some outside producer and be willing to turn over control to that person to help guide them to more of a classic sounding melodic rock album kind of like Skid Row did with Nick Raskulinecz for example.  Heck, I think Bon Jovi even working with somebody like Steve Brown could really help a lot.  But I don't think they have any intention of doing something like that at this stage.

I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. It's kinda just there.

I just find it kinda sad that with an anniversary like this, Jon couldn't have pulled something really great out of the bag.

Just one more great album then he can go back to being the housewives choice.

Agree.....Just kind of "there" is a good way to describe it.

It would be great if this were sort of a change of pace song and there were more "rocking" songs on the album.  But the sad thing is that this is probably THE rocking song on the album lol.

It just frustrates me so much.  I really dug this band back in the day and despite the feud with Richie and the whole corporate machine, I think Jon seems like a pretty good dude.  I mean, I've watched plenty of interviews over the years and he always seems to be a pretty down to earth guy and has done a ton of philanthropic work.  It's like I really want to like their stuff but I just can't seem to do it with the crap they've put out lol.

I don't think another great album is in the cards.  Maybe an album we don't absolutely hate is the best we can hope for at this point

  4. Music sounds cool but song/vocals overall not doing much for me.  Having a hard time getting into a song called Daimyo...what the heck even is that?  Some 16th century warrior or something?  Meh.

Overall, I've soured on projects like this in general so they need to really blow me away to make an impact and this isn't doing that.

  5. New song.

Obviously light years away from what they were but I don't hate this as much as most of the stuff they've done the past 15 years.  At least it's not some sappy ballad....which is probably what most of the new album will be lol.  It's still fairly bland and generic modern Bon Jovi in general though.

  6. Interesting and scary.

That said though, I'm probably nuts but I prefer the Brian Johnson version.

The possibilities are intriguing though.  Can we get a new Warrant album with Jani Lane's voice doing vocals?  Or maybe a new Elvis album lol.  Heck, I'm sure they can probably even do AI video's with those guys in them too.

I say this tongue in cheek but the sad thing is I'm sure this stuff is possible and probably even likely to happen at some point in the future.  They're already doing AI, virtual concerts and we had that new Beatles song and video recently.  I won't be surprised if we see more of this sort of thing.

  7. Interesting concept for an album but big blow losing Erik.

I was lukewarm on the first album as I'm just not a big power metal guy but there were a couple songs I liked on it.

I'll probably check this out but highly doubt it'll be of much interest to me.

Watched the premiere. Picking up right where they left off with "Not the End of the Road" IMO. They've nailed their formula... just huge sound on the choruses.

Matching, let alone beating the last album is a tall order though.

Agree!  They just have a knack for creating interesting, catchy, hook filled tunes.

That last album might possibly be my favorite album of the last 5 years if I were making a list.  It's just held up really well for me and I still play it often.

Tall order for sure but off to a good start!

German stadium rockers KISSIN’ DYNAMITE return with their eighth full-length, the aptly entitled Back With A Bang, out July 5, 2024 via Napalm Records! Founded as a teenage school band in 2007 and equipped with an authentic 80s stadium rock attitude, KISSIN’ DYNAMITE have performed at countless major festivals internationally, opened for acts such as L.A. rockstars Mötley Crüe and played massive sold-out headline tours. KISSIN’ DYNAMITE’s booming career has seen several high chart entries, with the latest studio album and Napalm Records debut Not The End Of The Road (2022) impressively climbing to #2 on the Official German Album Charts. Moreover, the rock formation’s catchy hits have made it to #1 on the Rock Radio Airplay Charts several times, and the multi-million-times streamed band has gained over a million views on each of their most popular music videos.

Now, KISSIN’ DYNAMITE release their promising new offering Back With A Bang, once again recorded and produced by singer Hannes Braun (Südland Music). The album was mastered by Grammy-nominated mastering engineer Robin Schmidt (24-96 Mastering).

Explosive title track “Back With A Bang” kicks the party right off, setting the scene for an album full of stadium rock anthems in true KISSIN’ DYNAMITE manner. Incredibly catchy following track “My Monster” is a guaranteed future radio hit, while uplifting “Raise Your Glass” is filled to the brim with nostalgia. Epic guitar riffs and true rock vocals on the dark rock number “Queen Of The Night” and “The Devil Is A Woman” persuade. To wrap up the album, KISSIN’ DYNAMITE shows their versatility and emotional side one last time by bringing it down for the beautiful closing track “Not A Wise Man”.

With their exciting, multifaceted 12-track offering, KISSIN’ DYNAMITE is indeed Back With A Bang, serving the best of modernized stadium rock with their guitar-driven anthems, loaded with hit potential and designed for huge stages.

    Track Listing:

    1. Back With A Bang
    2. My Monster
    3. Raise Your Glass
    4. Queen Of The Night
    5. The Devil Is A Woman
    6. The Best Is Yet To Come

  10. I've never been an overly huge Judas Priest fan.  I did love the Turbo album though and usually seem to find a couple tunes on each album I like.  I seem to gravitate toward their more melodic stuff than their burning, power metal screaming stuff.

Here, I think Gates of Hell is my favorite tune.....Really digging that one.  Crown of Horns and Devil in Disguise are very good too.  I wish they'd do a full album of tunes like those....which is kind of what Turbo was lol.

Not too much else grabbing at the moment but it does rock pretty good and I'd think many Priest fans that like that heavier metal style would probably dig it.

maybe it IS a compilation album…

I saw from Magnus on You Tube in the video premiere that it's just a one off single that is being released on Vinyl.  There is no album coming in near future.

Although, I still wouldn't be surprised to see a deluxe edition of Megalomanium at some point with this song on it.

  12. New song is basically more of what you'd expect in terms of sticking to their formula.

That said, I like this song a bit more than most on the last album.  This one kind of reminds me of Saturday Night from Wired and feels like a song that could've fit on that album.

I know their songs don't really stray too far from each other but I felt like Wired had more "catchy" tunes than the last album and this song to me has some catchiness to it.

Still not breaking any new ground though.

Not quite sure about this one. The new (?) songs are good and the re-works of the 'Riot Avenue' songs do sound better than the originals (there is a but coming). 'Sword And Stone' is okay but should have been left in Bonfire's very capable hands. This version pales significantly compared to that one.

Anyway, I guess the idea of the re-recordings is decent here. For the most part the production sounds better, but, there's a problem. And without being a sound guru, I'm not sure exactly what it is. There is what I believe is an issue with the treble area in the final sound, most noticeable in the first song. I don't know the exact way to explain this stuff, but the best way to describe it is that it sounds like a well produced album, at a really low bitrate. Instead of 320kbps it just sounds like it's coming through the speakers at 64kbps... even at a high bitrate. Irritating and something I can't shake, but there's good bits to it too.

Agree on the production....Thought the same myself.  Like you say, hard to explain.  Just a little thin or something in spots.

I do like the 2 new tunes though.  And Fire It Up seems to have quite a bit more life to it to my ears.

The 2nd half of the album isn't doing much for me with some of the song choices there but decent filler album nonetheless I guess.

  14. Teaser sounds pretty good.

Seems way too early for a new album though.  I suppose my guess would be it's a leftover from the last album recording sessions but maybe some kind of compilation or something is coming.  I wouldn't put it past them to maybe have a Megalomanium Deluxe Edition coming either...They did something like that with Armageddonize.

Hoping for something that stands out a little more than most of the stuff on Megalomanium did for me.  That last album just didn't grab me much.  I think I have 2 songs from it in my main playlist (Hardest Part is Losing You and Children of the Night) and the rest just kind of bounced off me.  It was a little weird though...Didn't dislike anything on it and sounded fine.  Just not very memorable or something.

  15. I dig the new tune!  Honestly, might be my favorite yet from these guys.

I like that this kind of gets away from the  Bon Jovi Country vibe they sometimes had on the debut.  For me, this has a fresh, big sound to it.

Will have the new one on my radar.

  16. Bummer.

I know I'm likely in the minority, but I was never into this band until Gabriel came on board.  I just dug his vocals and thought Automaton and Rust were both excellent albums.

Hopefully they can do some good things with their new lineup.

  17. Gave this a listen and sounds pretty good.

While I haven't been all that interested in this being a compilation album, this has a couple new songs and many of the other ones here are kind of lesser known songs in that they were bonus tracks, one off singles or whatever.  And some are from Riot Avenue which I never paid much attention to anyhow.

Either way, I guess this comes at a nice time being there's been very little of interest to me so far this year so I'll probably listen to this more than I might've otherwise.  The new songs sound pretty decent and some of the older songs sounded a bit freshened up to me on first listen and almost feel new since I never listened to most of those older songs much to begin with.

Wish it were a full, new album though.  They could've ran with the whole Young Guns/Western theme thing.

my thoughts exactly, I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the album

    I'll 3rd this lol...

This sounds really good.  What I like is Girish is doing more signing and not screaming like he often tends to do in his main band....This is basically what I'd want to hear more of from him.

I thought the first song was decent but really digging the 2nd one.

Definitely a lot of Bad City in some of those songs. I was digging that first song, until the chorus lyrics. Yuck. Too much for me.

Second song is better. The song title line in the chorus is quite underwhelming, but otherwise a good tune and not too overbearing, lyrically.

Bad City vibe not quite as strong in the third song, which is my least favourite of the three.

Kind of wish he'd spent his time in prison in better ways than gospel brainwash, lol, but here's hoping he can make music without overbearing religious tones.

    As for why he went to prison, here's as much detail as I assume you'll ever get about the situation;

    https://www.illinoiscourts.gov/Resources/ff8b03b6-6c11-4291-ae70-60e2b7ef40a3/4120481_R23.pdf

Sounds like he's actually probably been out for several years now? Possibly as far back as 2019? With time served, maybe 2018?

I could be wrong, but I thought I remember the girl he was with was the girlfriend of one of the other guys in the band or something so I doubt there's ever a Bad City reunion lol.

Nice to see him back in music in some fashion but this certainly doesn't interest me much.  I do hear some Bad City in these though...I think mostly in that 2nd tune which is probably the best of the bunch here for me.

The dude has a good voice for rock music and I still listen to that Bad City album from time to time but the whole gospel rock thing isn't for me.

  20. Been a very slow start for me also.

I always have a current year playlist with that's years releases I dig....And so far, I haven't even started that playlist for 2024.

There's just been nothing of interest to me so far.  All my listening has just been diving into older releases.

I think it's going to be a very slow year for my tastes.  I'm looking forward to new Kissin' Dynamite but being they haven't even released a single yet, I'm sure that's at least a good 4-5 months away from release.  Maverick is another on my list but last I knew they were still recording so that will probably be toward the end of the year also.

I think just about every band I follow has come out with a new album in the past 2-3 years which was mostly all the result of them working on stuff during covid to varying degrees.  I feel like all that stuff is through the pipe now and this is shaping up to be a very slow year.

Hopefully some stuff comes along that surprises me.

According to Jon, new album releases in June.
In the meantime, here is a live performance of “Legendary “.
Ugh, pretty much exactly as expected.  I don’t hate it, but yeah, housewives rejoice! 😜

Agree.  Don't hate that.  Don't overly like it either though lol.

Frankly, probably about as good as it's going to get from these guys at this point.

First single, "Legendary", releases in March...

I always tend to get at least a little excited when a new Bon Jovi album is announced, but the last nearly 30 years have not been kind. As has been noted already, they have the occasional killer tune, but for the most part, it's been one disappointment after another. "These Days" was their last release that I thoroughly enjoy.

I was the same....Or used to be until the past couple albums.

I always kept holding out hope they'd get back to doing stuff closer to their earlier stuff but they just keep moving farther and farther away with every release.

I'm willing to at least give the opening single a listen though out of respect for what they once were but my expectations are basically non-existent.

It's just such a shame....These guys used to be right there with my favorite bands back in the day and I even found some songs on HAND, Crush and Bounce I remember liking well enough.  But there's been nothing at all on the last few albums for me.

Like I said before, Carnival Days was epic for me.
    Vibration was good.

I was pretty hyped for Forgotten Shades Of Life.
Held off to try and dissipate my expectations.
Eventually heard it and was underwhelmed.
I've been back and forth a lot since its release tyrying to get into it, but I can't.
So far 4 keepers only, and still trying to really 'get' a few of the otehrs.

Hope the next album picks it back up :(

    Agree 100%.

I was as hyped for Forgotten Shades of Life as much as any album in the past 10 years or so.  And it turned out to probably be one of the biggest disappointments I've ever had with an album.

I absolutely loved Carnival Days and the Vibration EP....both darn near perfect and exactly what I'd want from these guys.  But for me they did a complete 180 with that last album.  The songs just weren't very catchy or interesting IMO.  I think Scream is the only song that has stayed in any of my playlists.  It boggles my mind why they didn't put Fake Perfection and Broken Into Pieces on that last album....I think both songs would've elevated the album and are better than most of the songs that made the album.

In hindsight, it appears these guys made a bad move leaving Frontiers.  I mean, they had built some decent momentum. with that Carnival Days album but they seem to have fallen off the radar a bit now.  I believe I saw an interview with Hannes done last summer that said they were working on new material and shopping it around to new labels as they weren't happy with the label they had moved to after Frontiers.

I think their next release is probably a fairly important one to get them back on track and it seems like they're probably aware of that with the slow pace they seem to be moving at.

Fingers crossed they can get back closer to the style of Carnival Days & Vibration with their next release.
