  1. Another greatest hits album! And even worse, live greatest hits:

JACKYL : 30 Coming In Hot +3 New Tracks (2022)

    JACKYL : 30 Coming In Hot +3 New Tracks (2022) - full

When many classic hard rock-related acts from their generation succumbed to trends, JACKYL has been strong & healthy for more than 3 decades. Now 2022 JACKYL are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their platinum debut album with the release of a new best-of collection titled ”30 Coming In Hot”.
There has been a ‘best of’ from the band some years ago but this one is different: ”30 Coming In Hot” includes their best songs this time performed live, where they truly showcase their power, plus 3 brand new studio tracks.

JACKYL earned two Guinness Book of World Records citations and the designation “The Hardest Working Band in Rock ‘N’ Roll” for performing 100 shows in 50 days as well as 21 shows in 24 hours. Yeah, JACKYL born to play live, and ”30 Coming In Hot” is really ‘hot’ indeed.
Very well recorded, mixed & produced, the set is very, very good and entertaining, and you have 3 new songs to enjoy as well.

Perhaps the reason I like it as much as I do is that my expectations were completely in the toilet after Erik's departure. I was expecting garbage... and it's not. I find it quite enjoyable, even if not Tearing Down the Walls level.

Unlike with the Journey album, I'm not hearing the production issues people are complaining about, at least not to that degree. It's a hot mix to be sure, but it's not impacting my listening or enjoyment as with Journey. I also wonder if again, the source/platform is making a difference. I'm listening to uncompressed FLAC straight from disc, not streaming or some bit-starved promo files.

I don't get why you would even think that. I was thinking the music should be similar and Kenny's voice is powerful so not much change.

But HEAT II slays this. Easily.

Standard Frontiers approach. Take a bunch of demos written by one of their go-to songwriters, polish them up, get a popular name to sing on them and call it an album. Or, even more dishonestly, a "band."

I think that is why the last 2 Nordic Union albums have flopped. The first album was probably 50/50.

such a waste of talent, singing and playing this garbage 🗑 😒

Sad isn't it. Listened to Sultans last night. That was so good.

This still sounds like 1 endless song with different words. A travesty and a waste.
