Gee, I wish I would have seen these posts about Retrospect Records before. I bought a whole bunch of CD`s from VegasCds on Ebay (over$200.00 worth), and was SO bummed when I saw they were all cd-r`s. I hate dishonest people like that!

If you paid via paypal, simply file a claim saying you didn't receive your merchandise. And if paypal denies your claim & you funded the payment with a bank account or credit card, contact them & file a claim for fraud. I've had to file a claim twice with my bank for a paypal transaction that went bad, & my bank reversed the transaction immediately. Good luck!

1) Whether David posted out of frustration or not, it is very obvious he saw the chance to knock Sam down the Indie label ladder a few rungs. Right or wrong, it very obviously was not purely informational. It wasn't for the sake of the music solely. There was an adjenda. The less dollars that go Sam's way, the more potentially that can go David's way. I won't knock him for posting as it is a business either way. It came off as dirty business though.

Just for arguments sake, let's say that Dave did post this with malicious intent...hell, the opportunity was handed to him on a silver platter. He didn't tell Sam to bootleg the cd...Sam did that all by himself.

 

I would imagine that if Dave had chosen to keep his mouth shut about the whole thing, when it did come out from another source that Sweet Teaze was being bootlegged some people would wonder why the hell Dave hadn't posted the info to begin with since the band is signed to his lable. "Surely Dave knew what was going on" & so forth. Kinda caught between a rock and a hard place.

 

Either way, I'm sure Dave didn't lose any sleep over the revelation.

David's timing on this original post is perfect. Seems like his latest attack on Retrospect coincides with a personal issue. Seems as though David bashes Retrospect whenever Retrospect one ups Suncity. It must be tough for Suncity to keep losing all the bands they want because Retrospect gives them a better deal. This original post was yet another attack because Retrospect just signed another band you wish you had. As a matter of fact, maybe you even thought you had this band. Too bad for your sake that Retrospect pays better. Let the people here know the truth David.... tell them just how many bands you lost to Retrospect and then tell them the reason why you keep losing the bands. Maybe instead of just attacking you should step up to the plate and pay a little more. Think you can beat Sam in the "business world"? Or since you know you can't you come here and whine. Some of the offers you have made to bands is an insult... that's why they go elsewhere... and that is why you have ... what 3 or 4 bands on your label.

From the samples I've heard, this one sounds great...scans look top notch...and to top it all off pressed on a silver disc...definitely a step in the right direction. I'll be picking this one up for sure. Congrats to Sam on a job well done!

Does anyone out there (80smetalcollector, Recordjinky) have a current list of what titles are pressed on silver discs? I think that those are the ones that most people here at the board would be most likely to pick up.

I know Blue Tears and BB Steal will get some votes. they rank very high and are on top a lot of the times but right now I have found a new love for the Bryan Adams CD Waking Up The Neighbors. I just got the cd after years of not listening to my worn out cassette and yeah, it is a fantastic album with so much Def Leppard in it that I swear I hear the Lep's singing background vocals. Produced by Mutt also didn't hurt

Weird...I thought I was the only one who heard the similarity between Bryan Adams & Leppard. "Thought I'd Died & Gone To Heaven" is the best song the Lep's never wrote. Would've been great to hear Joe come out & sing it during their tour together last year.

Another band that cops Leppard is X-Sinner...the song "Livin' On The Edge" is a dead ringer for "Comin' Under Fire".

Sammy's Retrospect Records may get the respect it deserves but it's something he's got to earn. What's really scummy about this whole thing is the way 80smetalcollector has acted since joining our board...pretending to be just another fan/collector like the rest of us, while the whole time he has actually been a "mole", probably sent here at Sam's request. When you go back & read his posts, he starts off with the polite comments here & there...then slowly the Retrospect plugs sneak their way into his posts. Then he starts mentioning Sam by name...next he starts broadcasting coming upcoming Retrospect releases. Now all of a sudden he is privy to certain royalty rates info...I'd say this guy not only works for Sam, but he's a business partner as well.

I have only just started to use the word fuck and shit because nothing else seems to get through.  It doesn't matter about civility in tone , a lie is a lie and hypocrisy is hypocrisy.

I can't speak of Dave's business practices because I don't have any first hand knowledge of it...the only thing that I remember people bitching about was that Dave was SLOW to deliver product, but that when it did finally arrive, it was first rate.
