  1. Good band. Speaking of Flyleaf, I heard a bunch of bonus tracks from them the other day. Apparently off a new album? Not sure where they're from, but they were DREADFUL! If that's their style at the moment, I won't be listening.

I'll second that opinion about the newest Flyleaf stuff, though to be honest I've never been a huge fan, pretty hit or miss for me. Both Fireflight CDs are pretty good IMO, just on the short side and a few tracks fall a little flat. BUT....the duet w/Josh Brown (former frontman for Full Devil Jacket) on the first release is gr8 and it's worth picking up "Healing Of Harms" (technically their second release, though the 1st band released CD is pretty much non-existent) album just for that song IMO......Skillet remains my fav. CCM hard rock band, though I won't hijack this thread by discussing that album here since I know other threads covering that one already exist......Later, Jeff.

  2. I've had good luck dealing with Christine.....Only once was the shipping slow (>2 wks.)....I also was the very fortunate recipient of a first pressing copy of "Lillian Axe: Love and War" for around $5.00 :christmas: , though the auction didn't list the item as such. Also snagged a very nice used copy of "Angel Heart (Germany): Transplantation" for about $7.00, don't think I've ever seen that disc listed that cheap anywhere else.....Jeff.

most all of there stuff Dave/Christine one in the same sell the BOOTS such as Roko , East Coast if they still are selling them !!!

I've checked my Lillian Axe and Angel Heart discs, and they're both still in the "heavier" original jewel cases that show some wear and tear and, besides having all of the proper features in place, both appear commensurate with their age (i.e. they're definitely not new). I guess there is no absolute guarantee without doing some further research, but I'd feel very confident at present time selling either of these discs as originals. All that said, it has been my experience that some sellers will offer a bunch of bootleg items mixed in with a few true originals, making it even more difficult to figure out before bidding what is/isn't legit....Thanks for all the info. rockdoc, I've found it helpful since I am far from being an expert and collect purely for enjoyment purposes.......Jeff.

  4. That season finale episode was SWEEEEEEEEEET! I love how the show pushes the scientific envelope, great plot development too culminating in the graveyard scene at the end- seems Walter pilfered an alternate dimension reality of Peter after his own son died......Wasn't sure where the show was heading after the first few episodes and almost lost interest. Now, I'm very glad I stuck around, and I'm with you gents- can't wait for next season......Jeff.

  5. They ask for $3 shipping overseas! :christmas:

I've never understood the rationale behind e-bay expecting and/or requiring overseas sellers to ship to U.S. for $3. From the U.S., I can ship one CD for around $3 only to Canada via First Class Intl. IIRC, all other countries are more.....Another case of e-bay execs. having "collective head up collective ass" IMHO.....Jeff.

I have to correct myself, I have shipped a CD to Australia via First Class Airmail for around $3 as well....But that's basically irrelevant, the valid point is that all countries set their own postage rates and thus all sellers should be able to set postage fees in their e-bay listings accordingly. Some countries still do offer a cheaper Intl. Ground shipping alternative......BUT, the tradeoff is that $3 bargain basement shipping option comes with a 4-8+ week shipping interval, which simply won't work on e-bay. Hopefully, most U.S. buyers you guys deal with are cool and don't hassle over paying fair shipping.......Jeff.

  7. Agreed on the GTO, I drove one at a GM event and it was way quick, but the build quality was horrendous (pieces falling off the interior) and it looked like a Cobalt with a hood scoop.

Not sure where you're getting the impression that all cars will look like Scions, last post I thought it was all Priuses. It's bogus that the brand you is dying, but to blame the government or to make broad sweeping statements about all cars being hybrids and Obama being the root of it all is reaching at best. Also just because the brand is gone doesn't mean it'll never come back, a number of brands make a comeback in one form or another. They've been talking about downsizing Pontiac to a boutique brand anyway since WAY before the bailout.

My uncle owns a 2005 GTO and loves it- build quality, fit and finish are all excellent in his opinion. Among the late model GTO owners I've raced against and/or am friends with, the Australian build quality hasn't been mentioned real prominently either. Other issues such as lack of trunk space and bland styling have been mentioned alot though, esp. among owners of '60s era GTOs I've spoken with....Just a different viewpoint.

I don't blame (N)Obama for the death of Pontiac, but the disaster in the making called cap and trade will be his to own IF it passes. This will necessarily lead to a "skyrocketing" (Obama's word choice) of energy costs in the near term, which should just about force the surviving domestic automakers to shift focus entirely onto the design and creation of the little hybrid (and non-hybrid)-look-alike-city-cars that most europeans have been living with post-WWII. Effective for navigating narrow euro streets and mitigating against $8-$12/liter fuel costs, but the trade-off is they're small, underpowered and very uninspiring IMO....There are surely reasonable ways to ramp up the production of greener energy modalites without traumatically killing off the current fuel sources, and the companies who create them, products that utilize them, etc.. And where is the power grid to bring all of the newly created "green" electricity to our cities from the solar and wind farms? Should this not be in place first before govt. considers eliminating, for example, the coal industry? This wouldn't happen overnight, of course, but would occur sooner than later under cap and trade. Further, enviromentalist advocacy groups currently can't even form a consensus re: which Western US desert areas should house arrays of solar panels due to differing enviro. political agendas. So, they're now not only blocking additional drilling of fossil fuels off the coasts of CA, FL and in AK, and the creation of additional nuclear plants, but are also holding up the implementation of a (green) solar energy power source. That's rich!

The (N)Obama propaganda machine states that govt. subsidies will help the "low income" deal with the vastly increased energy costs, but I'm very dubious of that proposition. They also said "95% of Americans will receive a tax cut," but now, after barely 3 months, the dems have decided to rescind that aspect of the stimulus bill in order to help pay for the downpayment on the proposed healthcare reform bill. Where does the spending even start to slow down with these guys? Whatever, tax code aside, I believe it's pretty clear, whether one is for or against such, that the current president's energy policies will play a very pivotal role in the automotive landscape going forward.....Not my brand of "hope and change," but that's only my opinion......Jeff.

  8. I hear you man, I'm a long-time Pontiac enthusiast as well. I own a '67 Firebird 400 and my father owns 2 GTOs (1964, 1965), and the dissolution of Pontiac really pisses me off. My brother and I just recently test drove a G8 GT as well, and he was seriously considering buying one, hope he still does. I've owned and driven all sorts of imports (Volvos, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C Class, Toyota Avalon and a few others as well), but I always come back to the domestic brands (Saturn L300 currently) and have stood with them thru thick, thin, and even quailty control issues. But these days, the domestics, without question IMO, rival the build quality, reliability and durability of the import brands. So with excellent products on the market, it is absolutely disgusting to me that Chrysler is going to claim Chapter 11 (and may be picked over by Fiat) and likely won't re-emerge intact and GM is shedding divisions like a dog shedding fur. I understand how GM arrived at this point--> the auto worker union dynamics, legacy costs, slumping sales and brand image, and worst of all, the sudden collapse of the credit markets late last year, but seventy or so years of hard earned brand equity will unceremoniously and ungraciously be kicked to the curb this Monday (4-27-09) with GM's official announcement. Can cancellation of the Camaro (again) and/or Corvette be far behind with the govt.'s likely push to turn GM into a producer of Prius hybrid look-alikes? Hope I'm spouting more gloom and doom than reality, but the automotive landscape is starting to look bleaker for enthusiasts like myself.

Good luck finding the Pontiac that best suits you man, given how long you've had to wait to acquire your own car it sounds like you'll really appreciate the ownership experience......Jeff.

  9. Prediction: Avalanche over Dead Wings in 6 games in WC Finals, then Avs will sweep the Florida Panthers in the SC Finals and bring the Cup home to Denver, the only city where it truly belongs! We might even get so excited that riots will break out in downtown Denver! With guys like Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Patrick Roy, Adam Foote, Adam Deadmarsh, and Mike Ricci, ain't no one beatin' that line-up.....

And you betcha that I'm gonna keep on celebratin' that 1996 (and 2001) championship b/c, well, professional hockey is on hiatus in the Mile High City for at least a couple of seasons. The "Avs" (un)officially called up the entire Lake Erie Monsters minor league organization this past regular season and will likely do so again next year--> and why wouldn't they given that the "Fightin' LaPerriere's," er, Monsters, battled valiantly and accomplished a hard earned 69 points and last place Western Conference finish. Not too bad for a minor league squad combined with a bunch of over the hill hacks. But two years oughta be enough time for them to track down a goaltender, 2-4 forwards, 3-6 defensemen and a couple or 4 centers......On second thought, 2012-2013 is startin' to look more appealing, so I guess I'll break out the purple- GO Colorado Rockies, let's see if they can manage at least a second to last place divisional finish. Damn this is getting exciting......Jeff.

  10. The Nuggets finished first this year for one reason and one reason only! Chauncy Billups! he is a winner, and a leader, and as top of the line as Carmello is, there is one thing he is not and that is a leader, nor was A.I.,they get their shots and that's about all they are interested in, and you can't have a point guard especially in the NBA that is not out for the entire team.

The Jazz played more then half the season with Carlos Loozer, AK-47, Okur, Derron Williams, pretty much the entire starting lineup excluding Ronnie Brewer, hurt, and they still finished third, I can't wait for us to get rid of Loozer,

Portland poses the worst threat to the Lakers, they are not evenly matched at all, Portland is the one team in the West that will knock L.A. out if they play, and have fucked L.A. up every game I watched them play this year, home or away

Yeah, you're right about Portland v. LA, the Blazers had alot of success against them. Probably the one team LA would most like to avoid, though LA would still be a huge favorite. Scary thing is, Portland is only going to get better, that team is incredibly young........Injuries did kill the Jazz this year, and who knows, maybe they'll take a game from LA in Salt Lake City and make it interesting, that's a very tough place to play. Deron Williams is the franchise player on that team IMO, a guy who will be a premier player for many years to come--> he hits the lane hard, makes smart decisions re: pass outs to the perimeter and executes Jerry Sloan's brand of pick and roll almost to perfection. When that team got healthy and won 12 in a row, briefly capturing the division lead, they showed their potential. Just a very tough first round draw this year......Jeff.

  11. Well I'm a huuuuuge Laker fan and have been since I was about 7, but I see what your saying about Jackson.

But there was a lot of behind the scenes going on with Shaq leaving and rumor has it that Kobe forced Phil out and Phil might of just said he was leaving to save face but who knows for sure. The following season Kobe had little to work with but the 2nd year with almost nothing as a supporting cast he got them into the playoffs pretty much by himself. The team finally made some moves and some other guys matured and now their back as being one of the top teams in the league.

Say what you want about Jackson(I said those same things when he coached for the Bulls) but wether you see him as a great coach or not he takes great individual players and makes them into great teams. And he doesn't without getting mad and throwing shit but instread somehow through his calmness teams respond to him.

I respect the legacy of the LA Lakers (how can anyone not?), and, currently, the way Kobe can single-handedly take over a game and completely switch momentum. I'd love to see Denver get another shot at them, even though the Nuggets have definite match-up issues with LA. Last year during the Denver-LA first round beatdown, I would have settled for a hard foul on Gasol or Kobe by Kenyon Martin or Marcus Camby, but no one on Denver was playing ANY defense. This year, Denver's defense is vastly improved, and I think that factor + the Nuggs balanced scoring poses a much bigger challenge for LA........But LA would still be a HUGE favorite, no doubt. Denver, Portland, Houston, SA, Dallas and basically even NO are all pretty evenly matched, each a notch below LA, so it's going to continue to be a bloodbath just to earn the opportunity to challenge the Lakers. Hopefully, one of those teams will still have something left in the tank by the time the Conference finals roll around, assuming the Lakers get there as well (I wouldn't bet against it)......Jeff.

  12. WTF? Where's Motley Crue, Poison and Dokken.....Just kiddin', I personally would absolutely love to attend, and really like at least 8-10 of those bands- highlighted by Icon and Hericane Alice, heck I'd pay $ just to see those two. Would be GR8 to hear the rest as well. Maybe I'll have to visit my family in southeast KS this summer and road trip over there.....Jeff.

  13. Come on bro, it ain't all bad......The Denver Nuggets are kickin' ass, and you're sort of close to Colorado. HeHe, you probably don't like the Nugs anymore than I like the Jazz, but I absolutely friggin' despise the LA Fakers, so from that standpoint I'd love to see the Jazz make a series out of it, but not lookin' too good.....Jeff.

  14. Rock Candy- Sucker For A Pretty Face......is at the top of my wishlist for a RR reissue!

O/w, Lorraine, Pretty Boy, Defcon, Mariah- S/T, Isom, Fire With Fire, Fierce Heart, Stranger- No More Dirty Deals, Crush- ...This, and the first Cuttlass album are all some of the excellent RR discs that stand out in my modest collection :headbanger: ......Jeff.

Nice selection there. I'd agree, except I'm yet to hear Isom or Feirce Heart. :( I forgot about Crush as I'm lucky enough to have an original, but that is a great CD. No doubt one of the best on the label.

I think I've been outbid 4-5 times on e-bay for an original copy of Crush so far  , probably one of my top ten favorite albums. Whenever I want to remind myself of why I became interested in MHR in the first place, I spin that CD.........So, here's a toast to your venerated (and much coveted) original copy :beerbang:, may it live a long and pampered life.........Jeff.

  15. Yes good civil discussion, And Metalmaniac777, I was just curious, almost being cynical, I personally do not believe in god, I'm not going to say there is no such thing, because I don't know, but incidents involving 8year old girls and sunday school teachers, it certainly doesn't make my thoughts sway towards a god, and I haven't heard one good argument to the wiser, I guess its in the eye of the beholder! I honestly hope there is something more to life, but I don't feel it, or see it! The only thing I have faith in is our countrys ability to stand up and stop from going down the road its obviously on! well see how putting my faith in that works out!

Dude, you and I think alike in many ways, besides the God issue.......Jeff.

I got ya! you mean In Metal Wayz????? Right?

Metal and politics, if I'm reading your posts correctly....Jeff.

  16. Ouch! That was a nasty fracture.......I once fractured an opponent's lower leg bone (tibia) during a high school football game (US football), I was falling and was pushed into the opposing player as he was making a turn upfield. Not as gruesome as that footage, but I felt pretty bad about it nonetheless.

  18. My point here is not to sway you to a Christian viewpoint, but to merely point out that by admitting that you're not sure God doesn't exist, you by default acknowledge that He might exist. A few posts ago you questioned how Christians can believe in a God that allows children to suffer, yet by your own admission don't rule out the possibility that such a God exists. I'm not here to defend my faith, my beliefs, but to merely point out the fallacy of your own words. If you said, "Children suffer, therefore God cannot exist, so I am an atheist," I would fully understand your reasoning. But when you say, "How can you believe God exists when children suffer even though I'm not sure that He doesn't," well, that doesn't make sense to me. Hell, maybe I'm just really tired (I forgot how little sleep you get with a newborn in the house) and not explaining myself very well. :)

I view belief in God much the same way as I view my wife's love. Can I know for sure, with hard, fast, concrete, indisputable proof that my wife loves me with all her heart? Frankly, no, I can't, because love is not something tangible that I can grasp. But I see evidence of my wife's love each and every day, and that evidence leads me to believe that she loves me. Same line of thinking applies to belief in God; while I cannot hold God in my hands, I see evidence of His existence all around me, therefore I conclude that He is there. Do I understand Him all the time? Absolutely not. But would you really want a God so small and simplistic that mere human intellect could understand everything He does? Everyone's answer may differ on that, but my answer is a resounding "no."

Well put Mark, you described some things better than I'm able to.

Leykis101, nice discussion, opinions may differ but I respect everyone's viewpoint.

  19. Look guys, an agnostic doesnt rule out the possibility that there is a higher power, that doesnt mean I believe there is, I just think in life I cant think of anything that is 100% guaranteed aside from death, and I try to keep my mind as open as humanly possible, and I think people that claim they are 100% right one way or the other are not only foolish, but ignorant, I can never deem myself an atheist, because that is claiming 100% that I believe there is no god, which I don't! but i"m not ignorant or foolish enough to say theirs not something, because I don't know, and neither do you, and religion, I believe was made up to fill the vacuum of not knowing, look how much killing has been done in the name of religion, I think it's absolutely absurd, over something so stupid and unprovable as religion, my common sense, and gut have told me it's all hocus pocus since I was a little kid, It is faith, I wish I believed in God, it sure would make life alot less stressful, but how do I believe in something I don't believe in, who the fuck wants to believe when your dead, that's it, it's agonizing, but there is a brilliant book that was written by a Dr.\Scientist, it's called The God Part Of The Brain, and it's the most logical thing ive ever read, I cant think of the author, but he did years of brain scanning, and experiments, it originally started when he was trying to figure out why people that have strokes become extremely believing in a higher power, and it escalated into much more then that, I believe I came from my father, who was to lazy to stop and buy rubbers at the drug store before he and my mom went to the drive-inn, I came from balls, as George Carlin once put it! but for all intensive purposes, I believe what I see, in life, and if there is a God, Id be very fearful if I were a christian, because If there is such a thing, he's clearly not winning the war between good and evil, I on the other hand just have to live life cautiously, because I know everybody has a little evil in them, but I dont know if I can say everybody has a little good in them, and of all people Metalmaniac777, you being a corrections officer clearly know that, my little brother is a Sheriff, my cousin is a Corrections officer(parole), and ive known a few corrections officers, police, judges, D.A.'s, and Inmates, in my time, I wasnt a criminal, I defended myself and went to prison for it, but i'll tell you what, I was pretty naive when I went to prison, and I was a criminal when I was released, and I thank everything, I was smart enough to get my shit together, because Ive got alot of friends who will never see the light of day again, and guess what? I wonder if they have any good in them? So I don't knock people down, or even try to pick fights with them over religion, because for one thing I was taught early on in life, is don't argue about something you cant show hard evidence for, and where thats not always easy, it is easy when it comes to religion, and god, you believe what you believe, and I dont, but no god id ever believe in would let an 8 year old girl be killed, or anybody for that matter, except for scumbag pedophiles, and rape-o's, you can give me all the free will bullshit you want, but thats just where I stand, we have free will, because we are free, just a bunch of "humans" doing whatever we want to do, and the only consequences are the ones set up on us by our fellow humans, and when those fall, so will we!

At the end of the day everyone has to live within their own skin and find their own meaning from the challenges life presents. I'm personally quite comfortable with my direction, though I learn something new almost every day by listening to different perspectives.....That said, I've yet to find any compelling arguments from neither atheists, agnostics nor fellow scientists that God does in fact not exist and would categorically summarize many of those arguments as bullshit. Nice thing about living in this country, I can have my beliefs and pursue whatever religion I want within the reasonable boundaries of societal law and everyone else can do the same (or not).
