What's a spinnin' in your CD player?

Captain, I was CD shopping this past weekend and came across a few of their albums, but just didn't plunk down the money because I didn't know what I'd run across later. However, when I return to the Burgh in April, I will have more time, more money, and a better idea of what is there. I hope their stuff is still around. As I say you cant go wrong with "Get Skintight" or "Turn 21",but only buy the other two if they are reasonably cheap, they aint bad but they lack the maturity & quality of the later releases! -

Nice to see I aint the only Donnas fan here! Yeah, now I have to start looking for their other stuff, too. (Just another band to add to the list!) I bought "Get Skintight" first then picked up "Turn 21" which are both really great albums (one features a Motley Crue Cover, the other features a Judas Priest cover) so I decided to buy the first two albums. The self titled debut is mostly indy demos & various EPs cobbled together & sound quality is really poor (the songwriting isnt that great either but the girls would have only been about 16 or 17 at the time). "American teenage rock n roll machine" is far better but still lacks the quality of "Get skintight" onwards. "Spend the night" is another great album! Also worth finding if you can download them or whatever are great covers of "Speeding back to my baby","Strutter" & "Keep on loving you" from various soundtracks or singles. -

Currently listening to a file of "classic" style rock tunes I'm putting together om my MP3 player so I can listen to some good music at work! Currently about 600 songs in the file so far! Got it on random with Faster Pussycat-Nonstop to nowhere just finishing and next up is....................Motley Crue-Poison apples! -

I didnt think Delectable was that hard to find,or maybe thats just over here in the UK! Must admit I prefer it to the debut album, some absolutely fantastic tunes on it! Wonder what Leigh Matty is doing these days?

Dancin on coals is easily my favourite album by Bang Tango, but the others are cool as well. There is an album out their called "Greatest tricks" which is all re-recorded songs from their previous albums, but it should give a great indication of their other songs. Personally though,I'd say Beautiful Creatures is the best thing Joe LeSte has ever done!

As I say, although its all covers,Joan has picked songs that fit her vocal style without being too obvious! I dont think there is a single song on there that she makes sound bad! -

While I found Kotzen to be an arrogant ignorant prick when I met him (Bret,Bobby & Rikki were really nice guys) he did bring something cool to the band in the form of his backing vocals! It reminded me of bands like Bon Jovi & Thunder where the guitarist is as good a singer or better than the actual vocalist which adds for some fantastic backing vocals & harmonies! While Native Tongue isn't my favorite Poison disc, it does contain my favorite Poison Song "Stand"...just something about that song I dig. I agree that Kotzen brought a new sound to the group, not just with his guitar playing, but with his backing vocals as Captain H stated. Whole disc has a "bluesier" feel that I enjoy! * Can't remember, was it Ritchie Kotzen or Blues Saraceno who had the affair with one of the other band member's wives? I gotta say that Theatre Of The Soul is probably one of my fave Poison ballads ever,so despite being a total DeVille fan & a despiser of Kotzen,I still acknowledge quality when I hear it. Anyway, just been listening to Alfonzetti-Machine again & I gotta say I am fucking hooked on this album. Of all the albums I have purchased recently, this one is the only one thats hooked itself into my brain! I know some people were put off by the more "modern" style Matti adopted on this one,I just feel that the writing was so much better on it. Good stuff! -
