They are keeping the genre alive and I am grateful for that. I'm not interested in everything they put out but nobody aside from Frontiers is really releasing anything I'm super pumped about. I get where the o.p. is coming from but I think there would be the same criticism if all they groups were dispersed amongst a half dozen other labels. Some will appeal to the listener, others won't.

After hearing all the horror stories about the guy it's cool to see Bach in this kinda light. Knows what he likes and buys what he wants.

Just wanted to post this song....Among my favorites on the album.
This and 'Let it go' are the best two songs on the album. Otherwise, the rest of the album is really pretty average, as expected. I will say, though, the band sounds good, musically, and the production is the best it's been in an age too.
All they need now is a decent songwriter.
Exactly. Still think they are highly enjoyable with Mason but amongst the good songs, it would be nice to have that one killer single that really separates itself from the rest of the album.

If this were some brand new band, people would probably be singing praises.
Some people just can't do that.
Which sucks for them because they miss out.
Yeah...It is hard though. I mean, when you see "Warrant" you have a preconceived notion of what you're wanting it to sound like and this is quite a ways from the fun, party melodic rock that Warrant is known for. I do wonder sometimes if they should've tried a new name but it would be tough to leave behind the catalog of songs so can't blame them for keeping it.
I had to keep trying it though and it's sunk in a bit. Warrant and Firehouse are coming about 30 minutes from me in a month and gonna hit that show. I mean, can't go wrong seeing them both for $20.
Seen them both live and they are a great show. Totally jealous especially at what works out to $10 a band.

Listened to some of the album last night.
There was one song that stuck out.
The song above is also good.
I'm different to most here in that if I get a few killer songs off the album I'm happy
Two to three keepers makes it a worthwhile purchase imo. Rather than grabbing them off Itunes I'd sooner put out the 6 or 7 extra bucks to have the cd in my collection.

Bucket list band for me. Still pissed I let my wife talk me out of seeing them when I was in Dublin five years ago. Love Eric Martin's voice and yea, each is talented in their own right. I could easily compile a lengthy greatest hits mix from their cd library especially Lean Into It. WW and To Be With You are fantastic to these ears. Surprised there isn't more interest in them here. I'll pick up the new one without listening to any soundbytes. Usually at least one tune I'd add to my Big playlist.

Back from FM's gig in Athens.
Plane tickets : $65
Gig ticket: $22
bus from airport-gig venue and back to airport : $12
3 t-shirts : $60
champagne : $150
jacks: $ 40
Value For Money: priceless
Extra: Met the band in the airport for approximately one hour
Much prefer replying to posts such as this one vs the one above it. Sign of the times I guess.
Love the price point here. Not to sound like an immature frat boy here but any reasonably priced event where your tab for alcohol is 50% of the total cost sounds like an amazing time to me. What are "jacks"?

Well, Karen was due to take Lily to see Ariana Grande tomorrow night, but of course now the gig has been cancelled.
Its obviously been quite an emotional time for them both, realising just how easy it is to come into contact with terrorism - this could just have easily been London!!
I was amazed at how efficiently the ticket agencies are handling the refunds - we booked using viagogo who are reknowned for being awkward but they contacted us!! unheard of.
Anyway, our thoughts remain with the poor families involved in this awful tragedy.
My 15 year old was pretty upset as she wanted to see the singer when she came out our way.
Kind of hit home how easy it is to be a target I guess.
Not sure how my 18 year old daughter feels as we are traveling to the UK is a couple of weeks.
My evaluation is that it's probably the safest place on Earth right now.
Trying to explain to a 10 year old why her big night out was cancelled because of bombs and killings was not something I expected to be doing to be honest. The world has gone mad.
That aside, nowhere is truly safe at the moment mate. The next attack could be anywhere - loads of places in Europe have been hit now. The intelligence service in the UK has been pretty awesome over the last few years when you read the detail of how many potential attacks have been foiled.
Stay strong everyone.

Had it happen once already. You think I would have learned. Will do the mp3 thing for back up.
-
Not sure if that is an option. I've always loaded my discs into Itunes. I'll check into that.
-
And me?
-
Addicted is the bomb! Can't seem to upload my physical copy of this cd into my Itunes however. Anyone have similar issues? Second disc I've had this problem with.
-
NIce job resurrecting this thread. Can't see anyone here not enjoying this disc. If you don't have it yet, well, shame on ya!
-
Wow! Throwback to the 70s when bands would release an album every 8-12 months. Very cool. Legends!
-
Really like this band. Too bad it is a one off kinda deal although realistically I wouldn't expect to see them making it to the midwest anyway. Rehearsals sound good.
-
I liked his solo although I went in with zero expectations as everyone kept saying his voice was absolutely shot. I expect to like this one and reports of it being closer to vintage Slaughter is welcome news.
-
Still pumped up for this one. Could it be their weakest? Maybe. I'll know when I hear it. I suspect I will still like it even if it ends up at the bottom of my SP album rankings. No doubt it will still blow Scrap Mettle outta the water!
-
Impressive. I'd give it a 9 and feel I was getting my money's worth. Looks like a good time.
-
Just in case you didn't think this could get any sillier...
Seann Nichols tells the "Classic Metal Show" podcast that he plans to record & release his own version of "Road Rage" so fans can hear his songs as he originally wrote them. (skip to about 58:40)
You may need to rewrite the ending of your article. Too funny.
-
Very cool. I still consider the first 3 RB cds their best so bringing in Fields for a few cowrites is exciting news.
-
Likely. But... if they already had the discs manufactured, why not make them available and try to recoup some of your potential losses? Can't see myself buying either version to be honest.
-
Should release a 2-disc set with both versions.
Agreed.
-
Well written article.

Neither of those discs are awful, but neither is really good either, imo. I expect very little from the new album, but I'll still give it a go.
It's still definitely not Warrant, that's for sure. The main difference is I can already tell it'll be average, dumb rock. Hopefully a bit of good stuff here and there, but just average and basically written. Very different situation compared to Warrant with Lane, who was a thoughtful, interesting song writer. As noted, there is no Warrant without Lane.
That pretty much covers it above. Jani Lane is peerless in this genre imo. A truly gifted though obviously tortured individual. It actually saddens me to think I won't get to hear what else he could have created on his acoustic.
And since few if any will ever match his songwriting ability, I can enjoy Warrant with Mason without reservations. I really liked Sex Ain't Love, What Love Can Do and Life's a Song and I dig Mason's vocals but his approach seems like it is too similar song after song. I still look forward to this one and am happy to see them carrying on. They are a lot of fun live!
Four outta 5 originals and a powerhouse singer all enjoying themselves on stage and treating their fans to the hits and a few new numbers. Unless you are Def Lep, GNR, Bon Jovi, or a handful of others, no one is booking you to sell out stadiums and arenas. It's not 1989 anymore. So you play where you are wanted. You can bet 90s fare like Better Than Ezra, Spin Doctors and Gin Blossoms etc are playing the same circuit as these cats. No shame in that.
RIP Jani.

Can't comment on the band itself but to me that is a brutally clunky band name.
