  1. Looks like you are SAM after all. See why I didn't want to make the phone call, folks? You can all see the B.S. before your very eyes... now can you imagine PAYING a long distance phone company to have it fed into your eardrum? No thanks. This kind of outburst brings you to a new low, Sam. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  2. See, then everyone should now see where YOU stand Tony....right in the bullshit which is what you speak constantly. You truly are the lowest common denominator. I hope you're a good dad , cuz you suck at being a human. You've had your chance , now you can go fuck yourself.
  3. OK , to end the B.S. and incorrect speculations from the handful of Retrospect detractors , Sam has invited the following H.H. members to call him with your questions ready... T-Bone Koogles Stormspell Zachary Burt ....respond to this post and I will PM you his phone number...if you choose not to call with your questions then it can only be assumed that you have no interest in seeking out the truth straight from him and your opinions should be taken with a grain of salt (like they aren't already). Dan you are also invited. This whole circus can stop right now.
  4. Burt doesn't know squat about Retrospect just like you don't. And your comments are like the pot and the kettle so you should probably STFU while you're behind. If RR isn't successful then how are there over 100 releases? Because Sam is LOSING money? If RR isn't successful then why do buyers keep returning for more rarities? Doesn't take a genius to figure that out does it? If RR isn't successful then why are there 80 releases coming out in the next 3 months? And if UNSUSPECTING buyers are getting the cd's from ebay and are not happy why aren't the negs piling up in droves? Just like the Russian thing. Sam has been selling them for 5 years and has over 55000 positives , but if all he sells is boots how is this possible? Jesus Christ Tony , use your fucking brain every once in a while - or does that hurt?
  5. Ok,so how many multi million dollar contracts has he signed then? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm talking about royalty rates , not advances.
  6. The attention is great. Over $2000 this week in sales alone - thanks. Oh , and you may not think 100,000 hits is very much but even at Joe's height , he was only getting 30,000 hits a month so for Sam to triple that in 5 months is to be commended.
  7. HAHA , yeh Burt knows how Retrospect is run doesn't he? He's a REAL reliable source - HAHA $2.50 a disc? What the fuck? Burt has no idea what the hell he's talking about. Maybe you should ask the bands that are on the label how much their contracts are for instead of listening to an underhanded hula like Burt. See , this is the type of bullshit that flies around that needs to end , but no , you little 3rd graders think you know the facts and you know shit. This is why Sam won't post here , because of these moronic comments made by the same idiots over and over and over. Tony , you are a real class ass , and once you get it through your numbskull once and for all that RR will be around for a LONG time , you are just going to sound more and more like an envious schoolkid. Now go smell the shit in your own backyard and stop stinking up this forum....oh and fix your ebay feedback.
  8. Either you're blind or just stupid Stormy. Did you not read the Press release? Retrospect is now being carried by distributors in 8 different countries. Every 2nd bidder blocked? Right , that's why the ebay thing isn't working right? Moron. Your jealousy shines through once again.
  9. Oh phleeze, dont tell me you can't see the difference between a band selling their own-made product and collecting all the profit, and LABEL which presses CDRs, gives buck to the band and pockets all the rest? Not that I ever care how much you earn - not my business, but to pretend you cannot see the difference is lame, sorry. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The only thing thats lame is your Russian idiocy. And if you think the band only earns $1 from every sale of a Retrospect disc then it shows your ignorance even more. If that's the way you plan to run your label then you'll be out of business before you even start. No , Mr Russian , Retrospect pays more to the artist than ANY other label in the world , you can take that to the bank. Which is also why Retrospect continues to get emails every day from bands wanting to get a licensing deal. Word gets around fast that a label actually pays more than $4 per disc for a sale. But I don't expect you to understand that Stormy , since you have a LOT to learn about this side of the biz. There is only ONE difference between a band releasing their own cd-r's and a label releasing its own cd-r's....the fact that the label has major distribution , a massive customer base from website and ebay , and knows exactly how and where to market the product. Retrospect had close to 100,000 hits last month alone. When your website can compete with that , then you'll earn some respect Stormy , til then you ought to keep your mouth shut and your snooty comments to yourself. I know where you stand and quite honestly you can STFU anytime.
  10. When Friction and Rock Blvd stop selling at those prices then maybe they will come down. But as of now , market value still commands those discs to sell at those prices. The other discs also remain at fair market value. It's about supply and demand.
  11. It's an open forum and I have right to tell the facts about other labels when the nay-sayers are too ready to bash Retrospect in every way imaginable. The bottom line is that the biggest issue here is the cd-r thing. Well , tell that to the hundreds of bands selling their cd-r's for $10+ on CDBaby. As far as WB goes , there is NO excuse for treating bands that he has on his label like shit. NONE. And nothing you will ever say will justify that. That would be like Sam licensing the Herman ze German album (which he actually has) and then telling Herman Rarebell to take a hike. That's no way to treat people you are representing.
  12. FYI , Kevin , that was a press release that went out to dozens of Retrospect supporters and magazines around the world. That was the definitive statement on the subject. End of story.
  13. Ok , so let's see , the vast majority of the cd's are priced at $9.99-$14.99 What do you suggest? $5? So the bands make a buck on each cd and Sam makes 50 cents?
  14. Me get MY facts straight? Unbelievable.
  15. I just love all this arm-chair quarterbacking. It's so easy to sit back and criticize when you're not the one forking out the investment. Where's the criticism of Perris cd-r's? 80% of cd's sold on CDBaby are cd-r's. Where's the criticism of of MTM releasing RPM taken from a VINYL master and THEN not paying the band a dime?
  16. Well , it's a case of tough shit for you Gener8tr. The bands are getting paid. The cd's are being sold. The customers are happy. It's a winning combination.
  17. Man , I don't know if you're a few fries short of a happy meal or what but you are totally off-base on this issue. The bottom line is that the guy who runs WB is an ass and should be a LOT more humble when dealing with artists HE FUCKING REPRESENTS!!! Why is that so hard for you to comprehend?
  18. Howdy , I think you're missing my point. They are not calling wanting money. They are calling because they would like to work with the label in promoting the album. When they get an asshole on the other end of the line , that is completely uncalled for.
  19. Dan , have you talked to any of the bands that have been shafted by Ryan? Raquel? Snakeryder? Seven Hours Later (aka Tainted Angel)? Seven Ten? The list goes on... If you had any conversations with these artists you'll know how Ryan AND Mario at MTM is pulling a Z RECORDS on these guys....and here's ultimately the problem....after going thru the 'shafting' of labels like MTM , SPV , MM , Z Records etc... , the bands are very hesitant to sign with another indie , be it Retrospect , Sun City , Perris , Rock Candy.....whatever. If the dirty laundry was aired out in this forum , many people would be disgusted with certain 'labelowners' actions. But everyone thinks I am here JUST to talk shit about the 'other' guys when that is totally not the case. Who is on the side of the musicians here? Who is going to finally tell the truth about how the industry fucks them? The whole Z Records scandal came to light only because the bands FINALLY got together and did something about it. Well , there are more coming....make no mistake. Is it MY place to talk about those 'other' labels? Well , it seems perfectly justified since nobody cares about the on-going bash-fest on Retrospect by the detractors who DON'T KNOW what goes on behind the scenes and do not have the facts.
  20. That DOES NOT excuse the owner of Wounded Bird to be a downright nasty prick when the bands call him. Shall I give you email addresses of bands who have called WB and got an "asshole" response?
  21. Why would you say that? If theirs are legit releases they surely pay master-usage and mechanical rights. Master usage rights may not go to the artist if the master is owned by record company, but mechanical rights should, and they are about $1 per regular full-lenght CD ...well approximately $1 coz BMI or ASCAP take their share for processing it, but the artist gets the bigger part of it as far as I know. Wounded birds re-release albums that have been already domestically released and registered with one of the licensing companies, so I'd assume they follow this procedure. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They may be legit , but I know for a fact that Malice , Henry Paul , Nantucket and Winger (as well as a few others) haven't received a dime for those re-issues. Ask the bands how Wounded Bird treats them....like a typical label , no respect for the artists. When you buy from Wounded Bird know that the artist doesn't receive a penny and you are once again funding greedy majors. Man , if some of you knew how these artists get treated you wouldn't buy shit from certain labels ever again (*cough* Metal Mayhem *cough*) , it's amazing what you can find out if you go behind the scenes.
  22. its just a shame that the artists don't see squat from the Wounded Bird re-issues.
  23. well , at least you saved yourself $1000 from buying the original
  24. Anyway of getting a list of what he actually has on silver cd's. I'd be interested in purchasing some them, especially XL. I thought it was a cd-r, so I stayed away from it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> try emailing him from the website
