  1. As noted earlier, the guitars on "Everyone" are strikingly similar to "Somebody Save Me", but that doesn't take anything away from the song. I believe this is going to be a great album. I really liked all 3 songs on their MySpace page, especially "Mindgame".

  2. My choices:

Winger - S/T, though i also like DRFSR.

Warrant - Cherry Pie as it has more standouts, though "Easy Come Easy Go" off ITHOTY is one of my favourite Winger tracks.

Warrant - Dog Eat Dog, though I might have picked Pull on another day. Both exceptional albums!

Winger as I haven't heard Warrant's live album.

Warrant - Born Again as it has better songs than IV, but both albums were disappointing.

  3. Both GREAT bands, but I prefer both Southgang albums.

    Songwise:

    Tyketto - Forever Young

    Tyketto - Standing Alone

Southgang - Georgia Lights (only just)

    Tyketto - Burning Down Inside

    Southgang - Tug Of War

Southgang - Fire In Your Body

Tyketto - End Of The Summer Days

    Southgang - Culture Clash City

    Southgang - Misery

Southgang - My Best Friend's Girl

  4. Just started the new Lee Child novel 'Gone Tomorrow'

Have seen a few Lee Child novels at my local library. Any recommendations for someone wanting to start reading his novels? I'm into Forsyth, Ken Follet, Archer, Desmond Bagley etc. so I'm guessing Lee Child should be right up my alley...

  5. Still spinnin' Johnny Lima~ Livin' Out Loud

What are your thoughts on that album? I'm curious, 'cause I've always enjoyed Johnny Lima's releases, even though the quality has dropped with each subsequent release, IMO (with the exception of Version 1.2).

    On topic:

I'm spinning Nasty Idols - Gigolos On Parole

It's weird to hear an album full of AOR/Melodic Rock songs from one of the better Sleaze bands out there, but I do put this album on every once in a while, as it's got a pretty nice collection of songs.

  6. Tesla - Forever More

Seems pretty good at first listen. The guitars during the verses of "Forever More" are a tad too modern for my liking, and I was a little apprehensive but the chorus put my mind at ease. I also really liked "I Wanna Live", "One Day At A Time", "All Of Me" and "Breakin' Free", all of which stood out. Surprisingly, the songs "Just In Case" and "The First Time", which most people consider to be highlights were the only two tracks that didn't grab my attention.

  7. Some nice changes there, Dan!!!

However, if you've changed "Hard Rock" to "80s Hard Rock", where would new bands who play 80s-style hard rock fit in? In the "80s Hard Rock" category, or in the "Modern Hard Rock" category? 'Cause i believe the latter would contain bands like Nickelback etc, and i don't think a band like Crazy Lixx would fit into that category, so i assume it'll be in the "80s Hard Rock" category and yet the band did not come out in the 80s...it could be slightly misleading..

  8. Motley Crue - Saints of Los Angeles

Ok, I admit I wasn't expecting too much, but I happily admit that I was wrong. On first listen, this is a pretty raw, in-your-face, beefy album with songs that really stand up for you to take notice. I like the fact that many songs talk about how it was to be at the Sunset Strip in the '80s, I like songs with such lyrics. The first 3 tracks (including LAMF) might need a few more listens to get into, but "Down At The Whisky", "Saints Of Los Angeles", "MF Of The Year" and "The Animal In Me" grabbed me from the word go, and are awesome pieces of sleazy music. "Goin' Out Swingin'" also struck me as a great, blistering closer. Tommy sounds great on the skins, and Vince is surprisingly good. Great first impression, totally unexpected!!

  9. Tower City - A Little Bit Of Fire

I'd given it a listen a year or so back, wasn't too impressed, and had put it away. I picked it up on a whim yesterday, and put it on again, and boy, was i blown away!! I wonder how i thought it to be average back then...it's a great album in the Def Leppard/Danger Danger/Bon Jovi vein. I wonder how i could have missed gems like "Closer To The Heart", "Stop Running", Little Bit Of Fire", "When It All Falls Down" and the awesome ballad "Surrender"!! Is that a great song or what!! Elsewhere also, there's some great hard rock on display. I gave it 3 spins yesterday, and each time it sounded better. The only tracks that are yet to make a mark on me are "I'll Sleep Tonight" & "Ain't Nobody To Love". A great album which i wrongly dismissed on first listen. The vocals are excellent and the harmonies strongly remind me of Leppard & Danger Danger.
