  1. AVALANCHE- Restless Youth

Here's the situation. I found a rare AOR compilation on the weekend called "Number Nine Sound". I believe it's a Canadian label compilation from the early 90s. Of all the bands on this disc, I was only familiar with one of them: Page Two. (I've located their In the Heat of Nevada CD several times.)

The band that I'm puzzled about is called Avalanche. It appears to be a "project" type band, led by Anton Streiss (keyboardist and producer). The liner notes do not disclose the name of the vocalist, but the other partner in the band is drummer Seppo Salminen. (Both are photographed in the booklet.) Neither Seppo nor Anton appear to be the vocalist... but the voice I keep hearing is that of Freddy Curci (Sheriff, Alias). Or is it? Maybe I'm hearing things! One thing for sure, if it isn't Curci, it's the closest sounding singer to Curci I've ever heard! The "Restless Youth" MP3 link is located above and I'd really appreciate your input...

And (of course), if any of you experts out there know anything about this band, by all means- fill me in!

It's definitely killer AOR/melodic hard rock... that much I think we can all agree on!

P.S. This CD is currently on eBay for anyone interested. Number Nine Sound

  2. I really want to go, but it falls on Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. I think that might be holding back a few other Canucks (Dave Ayotte too?)... mind you, the Harem Scarem factor must be pulling him just as strong in the opposite direction! I'm trying REALLY hard to rearrange my dinner plans to make this concert a go. Maybe a free ticket would be just the motivation I need! haha. (kidding)

  3. I have had enough bad experiences with sellers, how about a list of some good sellers that I can do business with. Anyone have a list of top 10 sellers? I never had any problems with a person named starlighthoney. service was good. is there more sellers like this I can deal with?

I highly recommend (in no particular order):

    Delbert Clemons (delclemons)

    Burt Heilbron (surrf)

    Adriano (adboimel)

    Dave (mistdiscs)

    Taki (mellowdickmusic)

    Mike Butt (impossiblerock)

    Mark Allen (The Metal Sanctuary)

    Jarred (dragcar05)

    Tim (tim061073)

    Pascal (Crycin)

And I agree with you, Rockmore... Kris (Starlighthoney) is one of the best.

  4. the mass majority get screwed around and that is a Fact"

Rockmore... Elmer the Elephant just called. He wants his glue bottle back, so kindly remove the plastic tip from the inner recesses of your nasal passages and then proceed to get YOUR facts straight. PJ's worst account is sitting at 98.4% positive. Roughly 2 customers out of 100 are dissatisfied. So how does that equal the mass majority getting screwed around?

Go back to YOUR fantasy world, clown boy.

  5. Those Russian imports should not be legal for sale outside of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and the Baltic States. Those who take advantage of an economic loophole are definitely not doing the artists/labels any favors.

Buying those CDs is like living on a $50,000/a year salary and using the food bank.

I buy all my new releases from Mike and NEH, his prices are the best around and you can't top the service!

  6. T-BONE... the CDs were in his possession. He'd purchased them in Japan but when it came time to move his operation back to North America, United Airlines lost them on a connecting flight between San Francisco and SLC.

I was going to help him track down these missing boxes, because PJ offered me $1000 if I was successful. But no luck... I got the royal runaround on the phone, not to mention being put on hold for very long periods of time. My patience gave out.

From an email PJ sent me...

"March 29... flight left Narita (Tokyo), for San Francisco. JAL (Japan Airlines) Flight 002. Boxes in question arrived in San Francisco.

At that point however, they were to be transferred to another airline, United Airlines (figures, a US airline), they never made it to the second destination, Salt Lake City. We don't know if they ever boarded the second flight, or what happened. We've been told they were never put on the second flight- and stayed at the San Francisco airport... anyway, the second flight, on which the boxes should have been automatically transferred to but apparently were not in San Francisco, was UA (United Airlines) flight 6418, also on March 29th. Upon arriving in Salt Lake City, and not seeing the two boxes on the conveyor belt, [we knew] we had a problem. Other luggage was fine... just these two boxes didn't make it."

If anyone with LOTS of time on their hands feels they can track down these boxes, there's obviously a tidy reward involved!!

  7. I haven't heard from PJ in about a month: at last word, he was in Naples, Florida. Lots of recent Facebook shots show him enjoying the good life. I sure hope it's not at the expense of his business.

I don't know if this has anything to do with his troubles, but the airline PJ recently took from Japan to Canada lost 2 big boxes (roughly $10,000 worth of CDs, according to Peej) and he never recovered them. I know most of the CDs in those boxes had already been listed on his various eBay stores... some had even sold. I know he had better sense than Lonnie, and actually refunded most of the money involved. But why do I have the feeling a few may have slipped between the cracks?

    I just checked eBay...

    1stPressHeaven: 98.2%

    Earotic: 98.5%

    Kissmydisc3: 99.0%

    OneCentJapaneseCDs: 98.3%

Not looking too good on Amazon either. KMDTokyo is slipping...

95% positivity in the last 365 days

91% in the last 6 months

86% in the past 3 months

WTF? To an outsider, the eBay percentages might look fairly decent, but- trust me- they're not. When you've got powerseller feedback volume, you've gotta fu*k around pretty bad to watch your % drop below 99% (or even 99.5%!)

This doesn't sound like the PJ I used to work for. I'm gonna have to give him a call and see what the hell is going on...

    Stay tuned...

  8. PJ's a busy man these days, juggling several other demands (real estate, automobiles, girls) ... I'm sure he isn't avoiding anyone intentionally. He was over at the endangeredcds compound last weekend and his cell phone was going off constantly. I even tried to lure him out that night to see Def Leppard, all-access, but he had too much on the go. Or maybe my tits just weren't big enough. :crying:;)

Ripper.... that Edane deals goes WAYYY back. That was 3-4 years ago, wasn't it? I know I was still working for KMD back then. And you never got that straightened around?? Wow....
