In fairness, they aren't forcing anything down anyone's throat. But I do understand what you're saying.
The reason the keep doing this is because fuckos keep buying it. Go to the Melodic Mafia group on the FaceTubes and you'll find literally dozens of people praising all these projects Frontiers releases.
Well, SOMEbody has to be buying it...

Yeah that's good stuff. They have a great ear for atmosphere, the first album was produced very well and this one sounds nice too.
That riff at 3:17 sounds familiar but I can't put my finger on it...

This one is a banger!

It's up on YouTube now. It definitely sounds like a Sall production to me (absolutely more AOR than blues rock) and I could almost hear Lars Safsund singing a lot of the vocal lines. I might prefer it overall to the newest FM album.

New video for 'Spinning Wheel'.
This may be one of the worst songs ever released on the Frontiers label.

Well, I definitely didn't see this coming. I'm way past the point of caring and I actually think Mike Mangini is the better drummer but maybe this will light a fire back under the band's collective asses?

Quote“I am overwhelmed with joy to be returning home and reuniting with my brothers! There is so much shared history between us all…so many memories, so much music…to think we’re coming up on 40 years since this journey began! The idea of creating new music together is so exciting and I absolutely cannot wait to hit the road and get to play live for a whole new generation of fans that weren’t ever able to see this lineup before…There’s no place like home!!” exclaims Mike Portnoy.

Yeah, I'm sure Deen said the 3 of them recorded 3 albums worth of material in one session so that fulfills their obligation through to 2025, as Deen wil be on the road with Journey and Jeff with Foreigner for much of the next 18 months.
That's nice of him to admit it.
I'll be skipping this one, just as I have everything they've done since the debut. Zero interest.

OK, this album is pretty bad IMO. Most of the songs are just plodding and uninteresting, the lyrics are bad even by Martensson standards, and overall it's just missing that typical Eclipse energy and hooks that make me want to keep listening. It feels like a chore to listen to this album so...I won't do it.
Also...I couldn't have been the only one who noticed this?
The chorus has a very similar vocal melody and then there's the obvious shared lyrics...come on man...

Anyway...
This sounds great!

Hammock - Love In The Void (post-rock/ambient/shoegaze)
Really beautiful stuff.

Oh wow, this is a nice surprise! It's a great album but the sound quality definitely needed a little TLC. The remaster sounds noticeably better.

Erm, what was the budget for that video? lol
Great song though, the production sounds amazing!

Would be absolutely hilarious (and good) if this just ends up being a Groundbreaker do-over after that band got del Vecchio'd.
I do enjoy most of Steve's solo work (Epic being my favorite) so I will certainly be checking this out.

I'm excited for this one. I had been wondering what had become of the project because the first two albums were really solid.
-
Oof, this isn't very good. All of the songs are just extremely average (except the opener, I liked that one) with The Broken particularly stinky. Where did all the juice from the previous album go?
Can't wait for the new Vega to drop next week and remind us how it's supposed to be done...
-
This is a nice surprise! Haven't heard much from Denader recently, definitely looking forward to hearing more from this project.
-
Great song as expected. The Work of Art influence is still strong, I see.

Tyler's voice is often strained halfway through the show, so I'm not interested in this. They're a band you see for the visuals, for extended sax solos, and, most importantly, Tim!
I agree, the vocals are not good live, and lots of stuff is on playback. I know it's hard to recreate a lot of what they do on their studio recordings in a live setting but I was pretty disappointed when I saw recordings of them performing.
The vibes at their concerts always seem A+ though so I'm still planning on seeing them this tour.

Any Skeletonwitch fans in the house? Not sure if I'd classify them as "new wave of old school thrash" but they're for sure one of the best thrash bands currently going.

Great music, the vocals don't do it for me though.

lol, that song sounds nothing like Journey...

Me too. I was big on them in my early 20s but there are only a few albums of theirs that have really stuck with me since then. Their last really good one was 2013's self-titled IMO.
Also, James LaBrie's voice has really deteriorated in recent years. He was always hit-or-miss live but it's been mostly miss their last couple of tours. DT is not DT without him but I do wonder what they'd be able to accomplish with a different singer.
