  1. As much as I like Michael Sweet, this is shaping up to be his worst project by far. Glad to see the guy is getting work--gotta be tough to make it in the music business these days--but he rarely seems to deliver good songs outside of Stryper or his solo albums. But hey, he still sounds better than Don Dokken...

not bad but it sounds like someone else..it'll come to me...but the sound is familiar.

That sounds like a run-of-the-mill hard rock song to me, hardly worthy of the Hurricane name. Any L.A. strip band from the '80s with even a modicum of talent could've cranked out that tune. Filler material at best, and that's being generous. I don't have high hopes for this album, especially without Kelly at the mic, and that single has got my hopes limper than a eunuch.

Do they even have songs they can perform on television?

Assuming they make it all the way to the finals, they only need 4 more songs. With some minor lyric edits, their new song "1987" could easily be played, maybe "Hell's on Fire," and then they could do their covers of "Don't Stop Believing" and "I Want it That Way."

Personally, I hope they make it to the live show, tell the producers they're playing a cover, and then launch into "Community Property."

  4. Either my hearing is shot or Michael Sweet is just getting increasingly unintelligible with his vocal stylings. (Actually, it's probably both.) I'm a diehard Stryper fan but I can no longer understand 75% of what he's wailing on about. But that's just one of the reasons this album missed the mark for me. As always, it's about the songs, and this time around, they're just not that strong. Lynch sounds great, make no mistake, but the hooks/choruses are as basic as it gets. There's 2 or 3 solid-if-unremarkable songs surrounded by a bunch of blah filler material.

  5. I think it's safe to say that Winger's best days are behind them, but that's okay. There's nothing on this new album that compares to the polished perfection of "In the Heart of the Young" but we are 30+ years on from that album. I always manage to find at least a few good tracks from these guys and this time around, I ended up with 4. But even the filler material wasn't horrible, just not on par with what you expect/hope from Winger.

Best song is "Stick the Knife in and Twist" by a long shot.

As mentioned, the upside down cross is used by satanist today just like the rainbow is used for all manner of sexual perversion. Neither of these symbols are used today by real Christians...because real Christians don't identify as satan worshipers or with sexual perversion.

And by the way...catholics don't following the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and the teachings thru His Apostles. Catholicism is a cult and a false religion that is not of God...these folks will go to hell if they don't turn from their wicked ways...

OK, so put an upside down cross and a rainbow sticker on the back of your car and let the world know you are supporting satan worshippers and sexual perverts! I dare ya...and while you are at it, don't bother telling anybody you are a Christian because you are supporting that which pleases the powers of darkness and not that which brings pleasure to the Lord Jesus.

If you actually knew Him, you'd already know all this.

I'm just gonna go ahead and say it--you're a judgmental little prick.

  7. Except that an upside down cross is not a worldly symbol. It symbolizes the crucifixion of Peter and was widely used by the early church, and is still used by the Catholic Church to this day. Now, had you said an upside down crucifix is evil/satanic, you would have been more accurate.

In the end, you couldn't back up your own argument, so you pivoted to a longwinded rant about something else.

Also, at this point, it might be easier and save us all some time if you just went ahead and listed the bands you DO think are Christian.

...I'm not sure who you think you are? After less than 20 posts, attacking 2 well-established and well-respected Christian members (Auslander, Metalmaniac 777).

I'm just happy to hear that after 21 years at Heavy Harmonies, I'm finally respected...:P

Wow! This guy is saying demons are why he's afraid of the dark?? God's Word teaches we should cast the devil out, not cower in fear of them.

You do understand he's talking about demons as a metaphor, right? He's not talking about actual demonic possession. We all carry "demons" from our past and that's what this song is about.

The definition of what Christian music is must have been changed.  It used to mean the band would sing songs that were lifting up the Lord Jesus and bringing glory to the Father or at the lest speak favorably of Jesus and of living a Christian lifestyle.

Now, it seems a band can be secular and they just claim to be Christian but there's very little if any evidence that they are Christian.  If they are going to be a secular band with band members that are Christian maybe they should just say that rather than calling themselves a Christian band when none of their sings are about the Lord.

I guess this is all in line with people who claim to be Christians living as though they aren't saved which has become popular in these last days where the falling away spoken of in 2nd Thess is in full swing.

There are Christian bands that sing about Jesus, God, salvation, Hell, redemption, sin, etc. And then there are Christian bands that sing about spiritual themes such as hope, despair, damnation, chaos, darkness, etc.  For the record, David, the psalmist in the Bible, did both. The psalms are not a non-stop barrage of lifting up God and praising Him. There's a whole lot of despair in them as well, so saying that Christians can only sing "happy-happy-joy-joy-Jesus-Jesus" songs runs counter to scripture.

Ultimately, listen to whatever kind of Christian music appeals to you. God knows--pun intended--that's there's enough to satisfy pretty much any spiritual mindset you may have.

I was listening to a few songs of these guys on Youtube and I don't see where they are a Christian band? Or is this one of those secular band that has members claiming to be Christians?

They're a Christian band--a 2 second Google search easily reveals that--but if you're looking for "praise Jesus" lyrics, you'll want to look elsewhere.
