  1. I read about this a couple of weeks ago on another site. It sounded like an interesting concept, but not one that I was too worried about.

But as I read the other thread, I saw T-Bone's comment about Black Sweden. That album was pure awesomeness. So, now that I think about it, I might give this one a try as well. Just a matter of locating it with ease/for the right price. (From what I read, with shipping, it was $22 or something like that. Not a reality at the current moment, especially on a chance.)

Price for the disc is $16.99 and shipping I believe was $3.00 in the USA !! http://www.rocksugarband.com

  2. Anyone get this CD yet ??? I have spun it a couple times just unsure yet just wondering if anyone out there has thoughts . Jess Harnell does a helluva good job on the pipes though . I believe they are trying to be a PG version of Steel Panther !!!

  3. Anyone order the new Suncity Records CDS )- Pricilla , X-Piracy , Kidd Skruff . I have yet to order just wondering if anyone else has ordered them . No one else is selling them but on the Suncity website as of yet maybe they are just pre order .

I was wondering the same thing...I emailed dave but have not heard anything, they look ready to order, but if so he should have posted here so we could eagerly gobble them up....

They look to be the best releases to date from him ... He said in a earlier email that the other 4 bands will be release a month after those ......looking forward to all his stuff...........

  4. I don't mind the first three Poison albums but Bret's solo stuff does nothing for me.

I was really the opposite, I always hated Poison's image-over-substance (I realise a lot of Hair Metal bands fall under this category, but Poison seriously can't play their instruments or write anything resembling a 'tune') but actually thought Michaels had a reasonable voice & his solo stuff was okay. This song is kinda okay 'ish.

I totally agree about not being able to play their instruments, saw them live back in the 80's and what a big let down.Shocking live performance, don't know how we stayed until the end as plenty didn't.Bret was the saving grace as he sang well under trying conditions.

That is my main issue with them aswell - a complete mess of a band in general and truly awful musicians to back it up, although Brett was the (sort of) saving grace when i saw them live, as he was not too bad (which is not necessarily a complement either, when comparing him to other front men). I will say though, that Poison weren't the only band in the genre that were awful, as out of all the bands I have seen live (and there are very many in many different genres) the Hair Metal boys/girls win hands down (coupled with a few N.W.O.B.H.M acts) for churning out the number of absolutely shocking live bands (and a couple of really good ones aswell) with as TIM quite rightly states, 'Image Over absolutely no substance (or anything else)' at all - Never a truer word.

Does anyone really care about this , I know I do not give a rats ass about Brett Michaels .....................His solo stuff sucks!!!!!!!!!

  5. Haha, the video is soo cheesy it is total cult, I like it :)

Great stuff. We had A 'Cheesy' hair metal band dominating some peoples choices last year, so plenty of room for a 'Cheesy' metal band aswell : :headbanger:

they have the gkeiest wizard ever appeared on a cover....and they paid big $$$ for it.....

Pretty Good Stuff !!! Good luck finding it though ......

  6. So I ran across the Impulse site, new to me, and start checking out the stock. Plenty of stuff I've not seen in forever. So much in fact that I decide to check here to see if any post were made about them. Glad I did. Thanks for the heads up (aka horror stories).

Again if you can reach them by phone that's the way to go since then they can tell you if something is in stock or not.

The way I look at if they do not answer emails then I am sure there shipping will be about the same!! Good Luck!!

  7. Holy shit, almost EUR$20 plus whatever postage? Ouch. Hope this gets a wide release.

    My feelings exactly.

I would pay double that for that CD !! Cannot wait until Feb 24!!

Just by me a copy and it would be like paying double.

    :rofl2:

  8. Man I hope I'm alone with my opinion on this (for the sake of the band), but I have to admit I'm pretty unimpressed with this. Can't see it near my top ten come year end, to be honest. Some killer songs (as always) but a lot more fillers than usual. Starting out with the first two songs - 'Do Ya Wanna Taste It' and 'Walls Come Down' and then ending with the last two pretty awful songs - 'Chasing Rainbows' and 'Gotta Get It On'. Four fillers right off the bat.

'Wild one', 'Still I'm burning', 'All you wanted' and 'Rocket Through My Heart' will be four of the best songs of the year - but where are the rest that sound like these? These four songs, to me, is what Wig Wam is about but there is a severe shortage this time round. Love these, though.

'C'mon everybody' is only okay and the title track is the fifth best song but like Jez said earlier the two ballads, 'Man in the moon' and 'From here' aren't that great. I actually like both songs, but both have pretty weak hooks.

Anyway, only 5 songs really work for me on this album, which is a pretty unfortunate strike rate, imo. Still love the band, but this is easily their weakest disc, imo.

Just as a follow-up to this, I was maybe a little harsh on the first 2 tracks. I'd throw those two in with the average but not filler category. Basically, here's my breakdown of the disc:

    Killer tracks:

    Wild One

    Still I'm Burning

    All You Wanted

    Rocket Through My Heart

    Great track:

    Non Stop Rock And Roll

Average songs on the brink of fillerdom, but not quite there. Listenable, just because they're Wig Wam:

    Do Ya Wanna Taste It

    Walls Come Down

    Man In The Moon

    From Here

    And the terrible must-skip fillers:

    C'mon Everybody

    Chasing Rainbows

Gotta Get It On (Bonus track)

For the record, this is still the 2nd best CD I've heard this year (Behind Taking Dawn) so despite it's flaws, I definitely don't dislike it. Just a little disappointed is all.

I've only played it once but I was dissapointed it as well especially when compared to excellence of the first two discs.

I was so pumped for this release I said it was great but once I have listened to it a couple times it is not as good as what I first thought . There are a few good songs but nothing like I first thought . Sometimes you have to give a CD a few spins .... Best track is Rocket TO My Heart !! Best song from them I think !!

  9. I just checked out all 12 sound samples of this new album, and I gotta say I won't be picking this up. While their 1987 self-titled release is a classic of the genre, this new one feels stale and generic as it comes imo. I'm all for sticking to your roots, but dang if this new one didn't sound boring and very formulaic. I would never reach for this on my shelf if I bought it. A shame too as Keel has done plenty of good tunes in their career.

There was another thread around here someplace with the samples and I was kind of underwhelmed with them as well but I've made the mistake of listening to samples and passing on a cd before only to find years later that I missed out on a killer release. Then again I've also loved samples then was let down by the disc when I got to hear the whole thing so for the most part I don't put much stock in short samples unless I can hear the entire song.

Yes you are so right 95% of the time the samples do not give the song justice at all . I have did the same listened to a sample and said big deal and in a year or two bought it . Now I just buy every damn thing out !!

  10. Has anyone listened to the stuff over at Melrock?

Brazilian AOR, but sounds really good. Like that track 'Beauty Of Dreams' (very Journey)....if the whole album is as good as that, could be very promising indeed!

The debut album 'New Generation' is due 19.03.2010.

    Cheers

Yes I have to agree these guys are great . Check them out ....... http:// www.myspace.com/auraaor

  11. A few of the tracks are ok, but some ain't that great it has to be said. As with other people that release solo albums that are in bands, I like that he tried to do something different from his day job, but on this ocassion it didn't really work. Take a note out of Kip Winger's book on how to do it properly.

Well, even Kip missed the boat too imo. I'm not sure why song-writing skills turn to crap on artist's solo releases. Although Johnny Lima seems to consistently turns out a quality product.

His solo stuff is terrible do not understand but I guess like Martie Peters , Mark Sweeney they all needed to try something different from there own bands !!

  12. Still I'm looking forward to this one and its entering of the Swiss Charts at number 1 B)

Have they ever had an album that didn't enter the Swiss chart at #1?

Actually, as strange as it may sound, "Rock the Block" was their first enter at Number 1 back in 2003 and in fact the only album so far that peaked at 1!

Man another solid sounding CD release cannot wait !! 2010 is going to be amazing for releases look so far what we have had and it is early . We have to look forward to Krokus , Crash Diet , Y&T , Treat , Scorpions , Crazy Lixx and all of this is going to take place from now until March !!! And spring is coming I am really tired of WINTER......... New Orleans was beautiful this past week glad I was there .. Awesome CD scores .............

  13. I just caught those four sound samples on melodicrock. Very cool. "A Life To Die For" is an awesome ballad. It sounds like an excellent mix of the old and the new. I'll definitely be keeping in on my watch list.

This CD is going to be a rocker musically there best to date !! Cover could have been better though , but the music makes up for the cover.

  14. Man I hope I'm alone with my opinion on this (for the sake of the band), but I have to admit I'm pretty unimpressed with this. Can't see it near my top ten come year end, to be honest. Uh-oh...I hope you're wrong Geoff. I just put in my order for this at NEH Records. This is one my top bands ever. But, to be fair, one can't expect a band to bat 100% forever. I'll forgive them if there's a couple of fillers on this release.

Definitely, without a doubt still worth owning. But yeah, I guess the band themselves have set some amazingly high standards to live up to and can be forgiven for, imo, a minor slip.

My CD just arrived and it is there best CD to date ..... Get it if you have not .....http://www.nehrecords.com has had them since Friday !!

  15. All bands have a lifes span, I understand Kiss's days are now looking numbered...... unless they replace someone in the band :(

The Scorpions quiting is indeed as I've enjoyed alot of their music.

They will be back maybe not in a year but they will be back !! Like someone said early it will sell a few extra copies of the new disc .........

  16. I reported him, also. It was fucking hillarious how obvious it was that the person I spoke with at ebay was unconcerned. I had to practically force her to look at one of the auctions to see the partial id he's using to shill bid, & then pointed out that this second id had ONLY been bidding on this one particular seller's auctions. She couldn't have cared less. I got the standard "we'll investigate to see if the 2 id's are connected" bullshit. What a joke.

Like I have said in a different post he is a joke rip off son of a bitch but do not ask ebay to help they could care less . If he did not pay his monthly bill for selling you better believe they would kick his ass off in a heart beat .............
