  1. Having your collection digitized makes it easier to find everything, especially if you have hundreds or thousands of CDs. That's about the only good thing I have to say about it. Wish I could still spend money on CDs but it's just not possible right now and will remain that way for the foreseeable future. Will be picking up the odd CD here and there though.

  2. Yeah I know what you mean....it's mind boggling the number of reissues out there....some of the bigger classic rock bands putting out reissues every few years plus these smaller labels getting in on it as well. Not to mention the japanese paper sleeve reissues etc. Rock Candy is the best reissue label out there IMO. BGO Records has some nice 2 on 1 sets as well.

  3. There's a whole bunch of great bands in that list, many of them have their own topics started on these forums.

A Day to Remember, Every Avenue, The Downtown Fiction...a few really good ones worth checking out for starters.

  4. After collecting literally thousands of CD's over the last 18 years, I never thought I'd be saying this but I think I have turned digital.

It's so sad for me to say this because I absolutely LOVE my music collection and it has been a very big and enjoyable part of my life but it has got to a point where I can no longer afford to purchase CD's.

There are many factors which come into this though none more so than the fact that I now have my own family to look after- a beautiful wife and a beautiful baby girl.

Up until two years ago, I only had to worry about myself. I didn't bat an eyelid at making regular $300 orders to NEH records and AOR heaven etc. I would even shell out $100 here and there for a single rare CD from collectors and I was all over ebay and other online music stores. Not to mention doing some damn good deals with some of you fine people here at HH's :-)

The other big factor for me is that CD's don't seem to be getting any cheaper, and having to import every CD from europe or the US to Australia really is incredibly expensive even before you add in the international shipping rates.

I still plan to purchase the occassional CD from my favourite artists such as the new one from Brett Walker which i'm looking forward to but that's about all I can afford to do now.

As for my CD collection, I have no plans to part with it, but I just don't think it's going to get much bigger.

What about you guys...has anyone else found their CD purchases dropping off and has anyone else been moving toward digital downloads?

  5. Brett was one of my favoutite artists, his albums Nevertheless and Lift Off both rate very highly for me and as Nick mentioned above, the Person 2 Person demos are well worth tracking down as well. I'm glad he was able to complete a new album this year. Very sad news of his passing. RIP Brett.

  6. let's make it much more difficult.

Can you pick only 10 tracks out of their whole catalogue ?

    1. You Think You're Tough (Ratt EP)

    2. Round And Round (Out of The Cellar)

    3. Back For More (Out of The Cellar)

    4. You're In Love (Invasion of Your Privacy)

    5. Dance (Dancing Undercover)

    6. Looking For Love (Dancing Undercover)

    7. I Want A Woman (Reach For The Sky)

    8. Givin' Yourself Away (Detonator)

    9. One Step Away (Detonator)

    10. Eat Me Up Alive (Infestation)

Nice choices matemate, mine would be similar. Givin Yourself Away and One Step Away are my fav RATT tunes.

  7. Ultimate Sin for me but it was close to No Rest. Hell, it's like trying to pick your favorite kid. You can't argue anyone's pick from the debut through Tears. Nice Japan set. I recently acquired the hardest of the bunch in Japan first pressings with the box Obi in Speak of the Devil. $800...my wife would fucking kill me if she knew...

Yeah it seems like a good bunch of music, just been playing the first three albums so far and like what i'm hearing. I'll be sure to check out Ultimate Sin. Cheers.

  8. The box set pretty much covers everything you need to know on Ozzy solo bar his last couple of albums. There are a few patchy albums in there, but generally I reckon he has a pretty solid discography. My personal faves are the mighty 'Blizzard Of Ozz' and 'Diary Of A Madman' albums..both superb with Randy Rhodes on fire same. goes for.the 'Tribute' disc too.

A nice pick up mate, where did ya get it? .

Hey Jez, thanks for the input. Yeah I'm really enjoying hearing these albums for the first time. I picked this up from a local ad for a reasonable price so thought I'd give it a go.
