  1. Hall Aflame, the rock band which features Metal Church founding guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof, will release their long-awaited sophomore album “Amplifire” on May 3, 2024 via Rat Pak Records. Originally formed in 1989, the band garnered commercial success with their debut album “Guaranteed Forever”, which was well received by fans and industry peers alike and quickly found themselves opening for ZZ Top on their 1991 “Recycler" tour for a number of dates.  As with many bands from that era, facing a decline in interest for AOR rock due to the onslaught of the “grunge” scene, the band went on a lengthy hiatus and reunited again in late 2023 to begin working on a handful of songs.

Amplifier offers 12 new studio tracks and reunites Kurdt with original bassist Brian Smith, along with drummer Bill Raymond and front-man Scott Nutter. Regarding the album, Kurdt Vanderhoof comments, “This album came about as a project to document all the songs that we had written for the second album that never came to be. We revisited the songs and realized they had to be recorded properly. Then it blossomed into something much better than we had even hoped! So that led us into reforming the band instead of just having it be a project." Bassist Brian Smith adds, “I think anyone that is a fan of “Guaranteed Forever” will see this record as a new and improved "Part II" of Hall Aflame. Great songs, great production and we had a ton of fun putting this together!” Scott Nutter adds, “A good hard rock album should lift you, make you want to sing along and rock out! That's what this album does for me!”

From the driving album opener “Helltown” to the powerhouse outro track “Keeping Them All Away”, Hall Aflame shines with their signature brand of rock-n-roll. Tracks like “Ripcord”, “In The Same Gutter”, “It Ain’t Enough” and “Gunnin’” are filled with memorable hooks and melodies, while songs like “Pullin Me Apart” and “1974” showcase their unique, classic rock songwriting abilities. With influences that range from Bad Company to Thin Lizzy, “Amplifire” is best described as the perfect blend of classic rock with a modern-day edge!

    Track listing:
    01 Helltown
    02 Ripcord
    03 1974
    04 This Ain't Love
    05 The Same Gutter
    06 It Ain't Enough
    07 Gunnin'
    08 Pullin' Me Apart
    09 Long Way Down
    10 Keeping Them All Away
11 Cowboy (bonus track) [CD & Digital]
12 Paradise on Ice (bonus track) [CD & Digital]

  2. CATEGORY 7 is a new band featuring John Bush, Phil Demmel, Mike Orlando, Jack Gibson, And Jason Bittner, Joins Metal Blade Records!

“Metal Blade Records is pleased to welcome CATEGORY 7, the new band featuring vocalist John Bush, guitarists Phil Demmel and Mike Orlando, bassist Jack Gibson, and drummer Jason Bittner, to its legendary roster!

With veteran musicians from such legendary acts as Anthrax, Armored Saint, Adrenaline Mob, Machine Head, Overkill, Exodus, and Shadows Fall, it’s hard not to think of CATEGORY 7 as a supergroup. The origins of the band began with discussions between Demmel and Orlando of their mutual desire to form a twin lead guitar hard rock unit harkening back to bands of the ‘70s such as Thin Lizzy. Bittner was next to join the conversation followed by Gibson. After composing some early music, it was obvious that the only vocalist that would fit the concept would be Bush.

Notes Bush, “Mike Orlando’s and Phil Demmel’s awesome riffs made writing lyrics over the music a piece of cake. The rhythm tandem of Bittner and Gibson rounded out the sound and the connection felt like it was put together in the stars. Obviously, everyone being a veteran of the metal scene made it that much easier.”

Based on Demmel’s and Bush’s long-term relationships with Metal Blade Records, it seemed to be the perfect home for the band. The label agreed and a union was quickly forged.

Comments Metal Blade Records’ founder Brian Slagel of the signing, “Happy to welcome CATEGORY 7 into the Metal Blade family. Of course, some of them are already in! Seriously love working with this crew and it’s great stuff!”

As crushing and confrontational as an armed rebellion and as fiercely melodic as infectious riffs and aggressive vocals can be, CATEGORY 7 is a new breed of hard rock  that lives up to the storied histories of its members. CATEGORY 7’s debut will see release this Summer with their first single to be unveiled on May 2nd. Stand by for details!

  3. From the HitC FB page:

This is it. The time has come to find out who is lurking beneath the shadows… we have been waiting for this moment for weeks.
Ladies and gentlemen, we welcome the new face of Hell In The Club… we give our dearest welcome to Swedish singer Terese Tezzi Persson!
We have said it, the task of replacing Dave was really arduous, probably impossible for us; therefore, we decided for a clean change, without compromises, far from useless as well as inevitable comparisons with the past and we did it mainly by aiming for the best! Tezzi perfectly embodies the role of the singer of HITC and possesses everything we were looking for. We have already spent several hours in the rehearsal room with her and it is amazing how, from the first minute, an exceptional fellowship was immediately born. We have already started writing new material and have many things planned for the near future. Now what about the old songs? Well, you won't believe it but they sound like they were written for her!
Perfect presence, perfect voice, perfect attitude. Anything else? Yes: she is super nice, proactive and right now she is bringing so much enthusiasm and positivity within the band. A few words from Andy, Picco and Mark: “thank you for accepting to be a part of this family, we know how hard it can be but you don’t lack the right amount of craziness 😜 We already love you!"

Oh dang, you're right. The first time I tried searching the name Robby Valentine on the forum, no results popped up. Now that I did it again, I've gotten a bunch of them. Perhaps I mistyped it the first time.

You have to be on the forum homepage when you search so that the algorithm will search the entire board. If you’re in a subforum, like AOR and Hard Rock, when you do your search, the algorithm will only search in the subforum.

  5. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen such an outpouring of love and condolences as I’m seeing right now for CJ Snare and his friends/family from the entire rock community. He touched many lives and had so many friends the world over. 🥲

I still remember the first time I heard White Heat doing “Home is Where the Heart Is” on the local radio station. “These guys are good! I wonder who that is singing?” Little did I know that we’d be hearing much more from CJ in the years to come.

    R.I.P CJ

Gonna grab some Firehouse and Rubicon Cross to listen to this week.

  6. From the Firehouse FB page Facebook

Today is a sad day for Rock N Roll.

It is with great sorrow we are letting the world know we have lost our brother: CJ Snare, the rock and roll warrior, lead vocalist, and a founding member of Firehouse.

CJ snare passed unexpectedly at home Friday night, April 5, 2024. He was a young 64 years old.

As you are all aware, CJ was expected to be back on stage with the band this summer after recovering from surgery.
We are all in complete shock with CJ's untimely passing.

CJ was was arguably one of the best vocal talents of a generation, touring the world with Firehouse non stop the past 34 years.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the entire Snare family, Katherine Little, friends, and all our beloved fans all over the world.

"Reach for the Sky” CJ! You will be forever missed by family, friends, fans and your band mates. You’re singing with the angels now.

From Katherine Little's (CJ's girlfriend) FB page:

It is with a heavy heart that I write this and it’s extremely difficult to find the right words. CJ left this world on Friday, April 5th. I’ve had 8+ wonderful years with this man and I love him to his core.

In September of 2020, CJ was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. His initial prognosis was grim, but that didn’t stop him. We went for a second opinion and in September of 2021, he had a life-saving operation that gave us these last years with him. He was so incredibly positive during this whole disease. He was so strong. He never lost hope. All he wanted was to be the CJ that you all know and love. Last spring, he started having some more issues and he had another surgery in October 2023. This last surgery left him very weak and unable to live a full life. I’ve been by his side from day 1 and I would have never given up on him.

CJ leaves behind three wonderful children that are all so very special to me. Life will never be the same. I’m not ready to face this. There is so much to say but words are incredibly difficult right now. Please respect our family during this time of grief and keep us in your thoughts.

I know of musicians who release two albums a year, and I always think “ HOW DO THEY DO THAT…???”

    I do NOT do that….

This album has been a very long time in the making … it’s a life statement … a full stop … for the moment.
Now I can comfortably walk gently into that long night knowing it’s been said. If it were a book, it would be an autobiography.

My album is done - it’s called “More…”
…with many guest appearances that make it SO much better than it would otherwise have been. People like Richard Fortus from Guns & Roses - actually that’s ridiculous - there IS no one like Richard - and Irwin Thomas (y’know… Jack Jones) - he’s a freak of nature… many others…

I stopped aspiring to be a guitar player the first time I heard Ed VH… stopped aspiring to be a singer when I heard Steve Perry - I’m neither of them - I’m just me … and I’ve learned to embrace that for what it is.

So go to Bandcamp.com - search my name - it’ll come up …

    Or… here’s the link

    https://randallwaller.bandcamp.com/album/more

For a limited time, the first few orders will include a set of strings that I guarantee I used on the album at some point (I’ve been saving them for years) - as well as some of my custom picks…

There are CD’s …. (which my 19 yo buys compulsively) or digital downloads… whatever works for you…

Thank you all for your patience, and unending support.

    Listen loud… Rock on 🤘
    r.
