  1. So, to bring this up again. I just saw Steve Batky ("Steve Napoleon") this past weekend for the first time since 1993 and yes, he did "about 20 or so more demos" after I was no longer in the picture. And they may actually see the light of day in 2016.

    >> did I, Napoleon ever make any music videos? <<

    Nope

    Dave,

What about the supposed demos for a 2nd album? Know anything about this?

    Terry

  2. The album is available through Amazon in the US now - and they must have been pounded for orders (not hyping, I promise) because I got an order from Amazon 10 times per normal from them.

The album will finally be out properly in the UK on 19 January and we're shooting for March in G/A/S and Japan.

And yes, they're working on material for a new album right now.

  3. Considering it has been two years and it's still going I'm guessing it's been a success?

LOL It's become a parody of itself ... the "owner" (who I've known since 1987) turned into a manipulating, lying POS. Almost everyone that was there in the beginning has been / "been let go" / whatever. And, I won't even go into detail about the bullshit he pulled with CrashDiet. He actually called me and left a voicemail the other week, asking me to let him explain himself, blah, blah, blah .... As someone pointed out to me a little bit ago, he's had to resort to a very failed Crowd Funding attempt. By the looks of it, doesn't seem like much of a success ...

The named donators are all his personal friends and I suspect the Anonymous ones are himself, his girlfriend and a family member or two.

If it lasts beyond March 2015 I will be shocked.

  4. Lynam?

Here's a clip from the Whiskey from a couple nights ago.

Lynam is actually a possibility .... I know their mgmt well as well as a couple of the guys. Came up in the LA music scene with Lonny, their guitarist, although he was mostly playing bass back then.

  5.

Ta-da ... Terry hit the nail partly on the head, anyway. See, I wasn't thinking of ANY of those bands ... although I have albums from every single one. I was just blanking them all out.

Now, to concentrate on the Hardcore Superstar / Dregen's of the world :)

    But Stateside versions right?

    If they exist! LOL

  6. Good stuff all around guys. What I'm actually looking for are POPULAR (or once popular and still pulling crowds) bands in that vein. The obvious ones that I'm just not thinking of - Circus of Power (yeah, I know not glammy, but still ... the whole street thing), Little Caesar, that sort of thing but NEW. Chrome Division or Bullet might be two examples ... D Generation would be the perfect example of what I'm looking for - any others out there????

  7. Hey guys - I'm drawing a blank here ... Can someone throw some out some "street level glam punk type" bands that are CURRENTLY ACTIVE??? I'm talking D Generation / NY Loose and Backyard Babies / Dregen / Hardcore Superstar type acts (but would like to focus more on North America). I'm working on something and, well, if I can't think of anyone, obviously nothing will get done ...

    Thanks

  8. LOVEBITE AND SPECTRA RECORDS PART WAYS

(13 August 2014 - Birmingham, UK) Young British hard rock upstarts Lovebite have parted ways with the American label, Spectra Records, without releasing their debut album via the company, despite signing with them and delivering masters of their Lock N' Load album over a year ago.

"We were getting really frustrated with the whole situation and we weren't sure what to do," explains frontman, Jonny Sparks. "We signed a management deal with a US based company called Head First Entertainment about three months ago and they looked at our record contract and started asking questions of the label. We had our release date pushed back repeatedly for no good reason and we weren't getting valid answers." He goes on to explain, "We were also required to pitch in quite a bit of money for a publicity campaign back in January and we really didn't see a lot of results from that. And that was the beginning of the end, really."

The band's manager, Dave Tedder, chimes in: "Pushing back the album's release date so many times for the reasons I was given was bad enough, but when I saw the press report they sent, that was pretty much the final straw. Included in the report were outlets such as The Today Show, David Letterman, Saturday Night Live, Conan O'Brien and other TV shows that made no sense, as well as UK alternative magazines such as Q, Mojo and the like. We're talking about an upcoming glam rock band here, not a mainstream pop or indie rock act. Now, a lack in judgement is one thing but when I saw the magazines Sounds, RAW, Select and Vox on the list it quickly became obvious that part of the list was fabricated. None of those magazines exist anymore! Combing through the report and doing some research I found that they claim to have gotten "no" ("rejected") as a response from close to twenty publications that no longer exist and some of which stopped printing as far back as the 1970's. I sent my concerns over, asked them to explain things and they sent an eMail to Jonny Sparks with a termination notice saying that I was harassing them. It's not harassment, it's looking out for the best interests of my clients. It's right there in black and white - Spectra Records screwed over Lovebite - no if's and's or but's about it. I've asked them to prove me wrong and they just ignore that request."

Free of their contract now, Lovebite will have Lock N' Load available on iTunes in the next few weeks and physical copies of the album will be available on Amazon's various sites around the world. In the meantime, the band continues to write and demo songs for their sophomore release which should see the light of day sometime in 2015.
