  1. http://blog.vh1.com/2009-05-22/iron-maiden...ock-doc-june-6/

Last year Iron Maiden flew around the world for their Somewhere Back In Time Tour. Making their home in a 757, they took 45 days to shake the planet with their metal anthems. They knew where they were going: lead singer Bruce Dickinson was in the cockpit, piloting the plane to every one of the 23 sold-out stadium gigs. Want to know what it’s like to be on the road with one of hard rock’s most acclaimed acts? Iron Maiden: Flight 666, a full-length documentary of the whole deal, tells the story. It premieres on VH1 Classic and Palladia on Saturday, June 6 at 9 pm; it’s VH1 premiere is 12 midnight that same evening.

“Having what is basically a flying “splitter bus” with all our gear and crew on board allowed us to undertake a touring schedule the likes of which has never been attempted before,” says Dickinson. “By being independent of flight and freight connections and schedules we could literally go where we wanted when we wanted. And so we did. It was quite a journey, exhausting at times with jet lag taking its toll, but our fans everywhere were magnificent which made all the effort and planning and time well worthwhile. It really was a unique experience until, that is, we did it again earlier this year!!”

The band played in 13 countries, also landing in Azerbaijan and Papua New Guinea en route for fuel stops, traveling 50,000 miles (70,000 km) and performing to almost half a million fans — a schedule that was only made possible by having their own “magic carpet” which enabled them to go where they wanted with all the key elements of band, crew and equipment on board one plane, christened “ED FORCE ONE.”

The film is produced by celebrated award-winning film makers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn of Banger Productions, based in Toronto, Canada, who have received international critical acclaim for their previous movies, Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey and Global Metal.

  2. I think they look horrible on women, turns me right off. Even the small, hidden tats turn me off. As for piercings - even worse. I hate nothing more than a pretty girl who has a stupid piece of metal in their nose, chin, tongue, nipple or where ever else. Yuk!!!

    I back your statement 100%

    Double backed!!

  3. Could I seriously have ticked more than one box? Sorry, I f*cked up.

In that case I would have ticked these (in order):

    1. Melody

    2. Lead vocals

    3. Lyrics

    4. Rhythm guitar

    5. Production

For a truly great song to work I need to thoroughly enjoy the lyrics, it's got to be juicily melodic, I definitely prefer good vocals because there are great bands that ruin the experience for me with poor vocals (eg. those Britny Fox/Cinderella styled screamers).

I love good rhythm guitar work, especially when people start getting those Fate and Masquerade styles going. And the production is not essential for a good song, but it is essential for me to fully enjoy that great song. Example - 'Private Blue world' by Jani Lane is one of my favourite songs but the poor demo quality kills it for me.

    Next up (in order):

    6. Drums

    7. Backing vocals

    8. Lead guitar

    9. Bass guitar

LOVE a huge beefy drum sound, prefer big backing vocals (though Silly Fools prove it's not utterly essential... but definitely preferred) and I do like a good lead guitarist, but it is in no way essential. I always thought the guy in Tuff was useless in his solos, but their debut is one of my all-time favourite albums and it never mattered because he could whip out killer riffs and awesome rhythm guitar work. As for bass (one step away from keyboards) - well, couldn't care less about the guy's level of talent, as long as it sounds beefy. eg. Firehouse.

And a very distant last, because I generally prefer songs without keyboards:

    10. Keyboards

    I agree 100% Geoff.

You're smarter than you look.

  4. what does it do to you? for me it really takes away from the beauty. I can't help it, if I see one my point meter drops a little. I have a friend I work with that is just the opposit and if he see's a tat on a girl his point meter goes up. I've never seen a tat that made me go "wow, I like that" or "that is so sexy"

I'm with you on this one man. Tattoos on women make them look more "manly" in my opinion. However, I do like a hot girl with a sexy tattoo right above her ass on her back. That's pretty sexy if it's small.

I totally get turned off by the chicks with tattoos all up and down their arms. :puke:
