  1. I've spent many a great day over many years hitting, first the record stores, then later they became CD stores. As most all of you know, CD stores are now becoming a thing of the past......pawn shops no longer accept CDs on consignments or even buy them so they are drying up there as well.........this is a sign of the "download" and "MP3" times my friends......our beloved stores are disappearing quickly all over America. The stores that were once loaded with CDs and that are still in business seem to have shifted their business to DVD and video games.......

    :spchewie:

  2. Always anticipated arrival of the latest copy of HARD ROXX and FRONTIERS magazines and loved the CDs that came with them. On occasion, I pull out one or two of those old CD compilations and play them as well as read one of the magazines. Also some other great magazines were STRUTTERZINE (Which is now an on-line magazine at STRUTTERZINE) which was edited by my good friend Gabor Kleinbloesem in Holland and BOULEVARD which was edited by another friend, Ola Granshagen in Sweden. Yep.....I loved to pour over those great magazines, read the reviews, interviews and check out all the ads. This was before the days of the internet which has made it so easy to collect.

Oh....and do you remember GOLDMINE which was published here in the USA? I was a subscriber and sometimes contributor. Loved pouring over the ads. I made some great lifelong contacts through GOLDMINE both here in the STATES and EUROPE.

  3. I actually loved the sound of this UK band on their "One Strange Night" release.......absolutely fantastic melodic heavy metal. Every element is played to perfection! Heavy at times, lite at other times, melodic, catchy, speedy, slow, they do it all, and they do it to perfection! Leatherwolf meets early Marshall Law sound. I was lucky to score a Japanese pressing with OBI a few years ago.

Just for some trivia....there are at least 4 different bands using the name Excalibur that I am aware of. One is from Sweden and another plays neo=prog style metal......

  4. Back in the mid 90's, I picked up a demo of Blue Tears with 16 or 17 tracks that were alledged to have been produced by David Cole of unreleased Blue Tears material.....

Eventually, I put this stuff all on CDR and it sounds great.....not sure which, if any of these tracks made it on the Suncity release as I never picked it up, but, here are the track titles:

    Call My Name

    A Date With Destiny

    Our Love Is Strong

    Storm In My Heart

    Kisses In The Dark

    Live it Up

    Rock You To Heaven

    Long Way Home

    Slip And Fall

    Wild Wild Ride

    Girl Crazy

    Dangerous

    Love To Shame

    Everywhere I Go

    Mystery Man

    Kiss 'N Tell

    Do You Want Me

Maybe someone who has the Suncity release can check these titles against their copy to see what is on there........

  5. Are these guys good? I'm looking for a band I haven't heard, something along the lines of Cassanova, Hittman, Treat, that kind of stuff, care to throw any names my way?

You've got great tastes there......my kind of music!!! Zinatra is closer to Treat than Casanova. Here are some great bands I'd look into along the lines you mention:

    Demon Drive

    Mad Max

    Fate

    China

    Transit

    Subway

    Emergency

    Fair Warning

This is a pretty good start because these bands have some pretty nice size catalogs....they are not what you'd call 1 hit wonders or just 2 releases and gone........

I'm sure everyone else can contribute a ton of bands that would make a mole hill out of what I just suggested, but, this is a good start...

    Happy listening

    Delbert

  6. Just finished a great trade with George and he sent me a couple of discs that have been on my want list for at least 10 years or more.......I have no idea where he dug these up, but all I can say is.......GEORGE ROCKS!!!!

I highly recommend a great collector sitting out in the middle of the Mediterranean on a small island called 'CYPRUS'.......in fact, he reminded me that this wasn't Greece!!!!!

    Thanks a million George..... :beerbang:

  7. Paulo.....Paypal does not care if you hand delivered it and obtained his signature in blood......if he files a chargeback, it makes no difference or if the charge is reported to be fraudulent it doesn't matter. Yes, I send to him with tracking, but these things do not matter except for a legit transaction when he claims he did not receive the item.

So everyone....don't be an easy mark like ole Delbert......if you want to deal with this guy, make him send you a Western Union payment or just block him and forget him......

P.S. If you see me posting about this a third time, I will go to Las Vegas and lie down infront of the Retrospect Building and ask Sam to interupt his busy schedule and come out and beat me with a 2 X 4!!!

Just kiddin' Sam!!!! I'm just havin' a bad day here......you know how that goes. :hammer:

  9. If it were me, having tried all the suggestions others have offered here.....sit tight and wait until March 24 to see what happens. That's thirty days. If you still haven't got your card, file a paypal complaint.......that will turn on his alarm clock and get his attention. If something else is wrong (Say the guy died or something) paypal will just refund your payment if he doesn't respond.......nothing lost except your time.

  10. So....let me ask a hypothetical question....would you feel confident having someone with say 20 feedbacks and 100% rating bid on your auctions??? My point is, the sellers cannot give negative feedback to buyers, so in theory, every buyer only has 100% positive feedback......I don't pay any attention to feedback on E Bay anymore....It means absolutely NOTHING.

I can give you many examples of people who are using certain e bay id's who have been discussed many times on this board who have 100% feedback with over 50 feedbacks, yet, they have been suspended over and over by e bay while using other ID's and haven't paid tons of sellers here and elsewhere......

You see someone with 0 feedback bidding on your auction. Find out who he is. If you aren't satisfied, block him and cancel the bid and move on. When you sell on E Bay, it is like going to the casino and taking your chances, because there just isn't a utopia there!!!

  11. [Not to be nitpicky, Del, but I'm Mark...my brother, hardrockhaven, is actually Chris. It's understandable that you forgot his name, however, as I am clearly the cooler brother and therefore the one you would choose to refer to, if given the choice. :P

 I know....from now on I'll just refer to both of you as Mr. Allen!!! You gotta remember, I'm an old man and get confused real easy.......... :screwy:

  12. I'm looking for some info about the band...I have their 1989 and 1990 albums. What's the title of their first album and is it any good? (comparing to those I have).

They are from Germany of course and here are the albums:

    Born To Boogie, 1987

    Fasten Seatbelts, 1989

    Unlimited, 1990

They are a melodic hard rock band....... Fair Warning meets Sargant Fury sound.

  13. Just out of curiosity, what is Mat Leven's current band these days? He's got a great voice but it was hard keeping up with him, and Soto, and Bormann lending out their voices to every other band.

Mark....last I heard he was stilling gigging with Dogface and Fatal Force (a bit of an obscure melodic rock band)

  14. Anyone know anything?

I've sold this on E Bay in the past but can't recall what it sold for. Here is the description I used when I sold it:

" mega rare 4 track indie came out of Sweden and is a very 80's melodic hard rock / metal sounding release, typical of the genre. Actually they sound quite close to German melodic bands like SINNER and V2. The guitar work is excellent and the singer is not bad at all. "

Can't even recall where I found it, but I still have one in my collection somewhere as well.......

  15. Ergf. Considering I've never been to Peoria and don't recognize the landmarks you're referring to, that might be tough.

    Thanks,

    -Dan

Now I find that amazing!!! You live so close and go all over northern Illinois and Indiana on your hunts and yet, haven't driven 50-75 miles over to Peoria.....??????

  16. Ergf. Considering I've never been to Peoria and don't recognize the landmarks you're referring to, that might be tough.

Do any of the listings or map points in the link below ring a bell?

I believe "Hot Topic" is the one........it is located on War Memorial Drive.....that is the name of the street. War Memorial is on one side of the Mall and McArthur Blvd on the other........

  17. The only things I'm seeing in the yellow pages for Peoria or East Peoria are a few Co-Op Records, a few Muzak, and "Younger Than Today"... was it a chain store or independent?

    Thanks,

    -Dan

Its an indy store.....used to be called Recycled Records on Main street, but he moved not far from the Mall and changed the name. I just can't think of the name of it. It's on the street that is the main thoroughfare on the north side of the mall. Go east back toward downtown and the store is on the right (south side) about halfway from the mall and the downtown area......that is about the best I can do.

  18. Was very disappointed in this. I have all their releases and was really anticipating the release after an MP3 track was posted on Melodicrock.com about a month prior. I loved the MP3 track. As it turns out, that was 'THE' track on the entire album....the rest was fertilizer!!!
