  1. Also got something called Planet P Project w/Tony Carey (love the song he did called "Fine Fine Day") but have no idea how this sounds.

Blue, is this the Planet P with "Why Me?" I'm dyin' to find that one! "Fine Fine Day" is such a great song but it never got much attention in the US, although MTV (back when they actually played MUSIC!) had the video in light rotation. I hear it on XM's 80's channel every once in a while.

Why yes it is! In fact that's the best song on the disc. The album sort of sounds like 80's Pink Floyd. It's alright but a little mellow for me. But I really like the song "Why Me" and it really stands out because it's the most upbeat track on the disc.

  2. Well I've got a 1 hour drive to do jury duty (yeehaw) tomorrow and then it's off hunting. Hopefully something good will turn up because there hasn't been much of anything lately. I did pick up that Bangkok Shock cd "Back on the Streets" and plan to give it a spin tomorrow. Also got something called Planet P Project w/Tony Carey (love the song he did called "Fine Fine Day") but have no idea how this sounds. Also Alice Cooper "Dada" and Quiet Riot "Winners Take All" (my first ever QR purchase on CD).

  3. A Shout At The Remix--A Tribute To Motley Crue...very interesting cd. Lots of old names trying to play the NIN game. Some are ok like Live Wire by Steve Summers, Too Fast For Love by Taime Downe, Joe Leste doing Starry Eyes is cool, and Looks That Kill by Jizzy is good. The Impotent Sea Snakes version of Stick to Your Guns is fun. Some of it is just a little too out there for me though. $6 new so I can't complain.

Before that it was L.A. Guns "Man In The Moon". Wow--that is now my favorite album by them (probably the first person to make that statement).

  4. The S/T Every Mother's NIghtmare is a great CD!!!!!!!!!!!!

YEAH it does!!!! :D I hear the second one is even better!!! (It's on it's way here now!!) :banger:

What do you think of the other releases???

Let me know what you think of Wake Up Screaming. I picked up both at the same time last summer and loved the first but the second one just seemed to me really uninspired and a little boring. I've tried listening to it a few times now and never could get into it. It seems this cd is either real hot or real cold with everyone that hears it. Btw, for as rare as the 1st seems to be I ran across it 3 times over a 2 week span w/ all 3 in excellent condition and never paid more than $4 a piece. Kept one, sold one for $18 and the other for $10.

  5. I have to admit, I'm no stranger to AIC myself. They do kick some serious ass. Cantrell's a smokin' guitarist. Very tasty with a nice crunchy sound.

When Alice in Chains and Soundgarden first started hitting it big my first thought was "this is exactly what I've waiting for" in hard rock with the crunchy guitars and powerful songs because the trend around 1990 was to put out your new album and the first two singles would be ballads. WTF?? Thats what happened to rock IMO--they started going for the quick selling hit ballad and forgot about the product that got them there in the first place--good rockin' tunes. But I grew real tired of the whole grunge sound soon enough. I do occasionaly get in the mood for "Loud Love" or "Man in the Box" or similiar...just very rarely.

ksymrtn--I too try to avoid putting two of the same artists songs on a cd unless it's an accident. Or even worse put the same song on there twice! (unfortunately I've done that more than once!)

  6. I just looked up Dan Reed Network on allmusicguide.com and turns out Dan Reed and drummer Dan Pred met while they were high school students in Aberdeen SD (pop. 24,000) in 1979, which is where I'm from. No wonder the guys played the county fair there when "Ritual" was hot (hit #38 on Billboard). They played the shit out of that song on radio but never heard anything after that song. Might have to pick up some albums just for the hometown connection!

  7. I've been stuck in a rut for for the last few weeks and can't seem to put together anything that rocks from beginning to end. I need tunes that will get me pumped on my way to work in the mornings.

    5. EZO - Love Junky

    6. Pretty Boy Floyd - Some Kinda Voodoo

  8. I do about 90% of my music buying at pawn shops where you can always get a good price. The only problem is you never know what condition the CD will be in.

    Circus Of Power - S/T - Mint $3.00

Tommy Shaw - Girls With Guns Original A&M release - Mint $4.99

Pink Floyd - The Wall Mint $5.00

Southgang - Group Therapy scratched to hell but no skips $1.00

    Every Mother's Nightmare - S/T - Mint $4.00

Pretty Boy Floyd - Leather Boyz Japan Import w/OBI - Mint $4.99

    Beggars & Thieves - S/T - Mint $1.00

Iron Eagle Soundtrack - Mint $1.00

Y&T - Ten and Contagious both unopened $1.00 each

Vinnie Vincent Invasion - All Systems Go (before the reissue) - Mint $3.00

Unruly Child - S/T - Mint $1.00 (sold it and later bought another one for $4.00)

And the worst purchases I have made were done at Used CD stores where they sometimes like to rip you off

Smashed Gladys - Social Intercourse scratched to hell and skipped on tracks 9 & 10 - I traded in Twisted Sister Come Out And Play (before the reissue) plus $25 (but I must say I've never seen another one since)

Sweet F.A. - Stick To Your Guns (I had never priced it before so didn't know I could pick it up on Ebay for around $5) VG $16.99 (this one still ticks me off) :hammer:

The same place also tried to sell me the Pretty Boy Floyd Leather Boyz Reissue for $30 (the guy must have smelled a sucker).

    5. D.A.D. - Riskin' It All

Oh yeah...off topic but...the Minnesota Wild are in the playoffs for the first time in their short 3 year history! Hell Yeah and GO WILD!!!! :drink:

  10. What are some of your favorite album covers? You know...the ones that you would see for the first time and say "man, if I had a band, that would be the album cover I would want! :headbanger:"

    Some of my favs include:

AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

    Dio - Dream Evil

Dirty Looks - Turn Of The Screw

Black Sabbath - Mob Rules, Never Say Die, Technical Ecstasy (I have no idea why I like the Technical Ecstasy cover, probably because it's so damn weird)

Iron Maiden - Somewhere In Time

Legs Diamond - Town Bad Girl

Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction

    W.A.S.P. - S/T
