Not exactly weak, but I didn't care for the grittier sound of a lot of albums being released around 2010. There were a few years there where many bands were going for a dirtier sound. Less polished. I'm trying to avoid the word "grunge"--haha--because it definitely wasn't Grunge.

you should fill out the template so I know what I'm dealing with exactly for each album.

Wasn't the greatest era, I think. I was listening to Tesla's Forevermore, the other day, and I didn't like it as much as I remembered.

I'm not following, I don't see how a Tesla album released in the same year would affect ones rating of the Hope album.

Are you saying you agree with The Rocker that Hope is a weak album?

the track is a bit meh for me, and as for the solo, yeah it's v cool but does it actually fit the song 🤔 Mm I'm not convinced.

Never once crossed my mind that it didn't fit the song.  I love that part right after the flurry that begins the solo, as he begins to build it back up over the driving bass and thumping drums before the final flurry; which segues into another sweet heavy riff.

I love the heaviness of the song throughout while still remaining melodic, Gary sounds good, Nuno rips it up and the final 30 seconds of the song fuckin' rules.  If the whole album is on this level, then an album I couldn't have cared less about will being vying for a spot in my top 5 this year.

  7. Given the fact that 95% of the songs were written by David for NFO, I would say I am cautiously optimistic going forward.  As far as I could tell David was always writing/demoing NFO songs, so there still might be some stuff around for the next album. Also Bjorn's vocals are a huge part of the appeal of the band and he is a good songwriter himself.

RIP David, you were an amazing songwriter and a gifted guitarist.

if you don't like First Signal don't listen to them 🤣🤣🤣

Born to be a Rebel is a HS cover by the way ;) (albeit demo)

I don't listen to this project much.  I love Harry's vocals so I gave this new one a handful of spins; and then it was back to Harem Scarem.  Born To Be A Rebel had potential but I found the chorus to be just okay and I can see why it never made a Harem Scarem album.

First listen all the way through and yeah this is WAY better than the last two, maybe last three First Signal albums. I love how they brought back the grittier production of the debut, even though I'm pretty sure Dennis Ward isn't on the project this time. Better guitars, more imaginative percussion, and just ROCKS where the previous efforts plod.

Looks like a diverse songwriting team, too. Jani Limatainen (Sonata Arctica, Cain's Offering) on this one.

I wish Dennis Ward was involved. Unlike the debut, the production is very poor and makes the album a chore to listen to imo.
