So many hair metal songs heavier than some on this list. As much as I like the heavier tone of JYD by Winger, other hair metal bands like WASP, Guns N Roses and even Tigertailz have songs that are just as heavy or heavier.

I consider Guns N' Roses to be the antithesis of hair metal.

There are a lot of fans with no sense of history on these sites who actually rubbish Zeppelin, Sabbath, The Who, The Stones, AC/DC, The Beatles, you name it! But, I have to admit, personally I've never loved Elvis.

No, you are right. Any music made before I was born is crap. Music I like has to fit in a very narrow window. That's why I must sing the praises of Electric Callboy and rubbish Led Zeppelin.

You are the one who called out people for not liking something because of a sense of history, which was completely fucked. Then turned around and did the very thing you were complaining about by saying you never loved Elvis.  What is an Electric Callboy?

Nope....they were from well before my time but I recognize their influence on the bands that came after and while I do not care for their music I will not crap on them for being old and out of touch musically when I started listening to rock....

Yea I think there is a historical significance with certain artists/bands that can't be denied; but whether or not said artists/bands music is enjoyable to listen to is all subjective.

'.....Deep Purple,Led Zep.Queen,Rush,Stones etc,,I'm not a big fan but for being pioneers, they do get my hat tip'  - if that makes any sense.

If I had to pick one of those bands to actually listen to I'd go with the Stones; as I didn't mind their run of albums from Dirty Work through to Bridges To Babylon. Jagger's Wandering Spirit was good too.  But I have no use for any of the others at all, as far as finding their music enjoyable to listen to on a personal level.

I'll add 4 more.... Rush, Deep Purple, BTO and April Wine rounding out the top 8 bands that I grew up listening to and they all had incredible songs/releases but I get that those who grew up after the 70s listening to different bands would disagree.....that does not change the fact that those bands had huge influence on our music today and they should be recognized for that....

I agree that what a person grew up listening to has a lot to do with it.   Are you a big fan of Chuck Berry or Elvis?

A quick google search shows Jimmy Page was influenced by Elvis, so by your own logic you have to love Elvis as well. Sorry it's the rules.

My unpopular opinion is that you're apparently not allowed to just like music from a certain era. It is an absolute must that you must like all kinds of shit before the music you actually like because someone was born before the guys you like and picked up a guitar before them. The argument fucks me off every time I hear it, lol. Absolutely ridiculous use of a human mind and "logic."

As for saying Eddie Veddar is horrible, I thought we were looking for unpopular opinions? ;) Couldn't imagine a soul here would disagree with that.

Agreed on both points.  I appreciate some bands have more of a historical significance than others; but why the fuck would I listen to something I don't like just because they are considered to be iconic.

Is there more than 3 people on here who like Eddie Veddar?

    Also :

I'd loosely agree with the comments iro Van Halen & AC/DC - not a huge fan of either band

However I would add that both bands have around 10 songs each that I would term bona fide classics that I absolutely 💯 love

Man On A Mission or The Razors Edge included in that set of 10?

    1. Agree...didn't think anyone else here agreed with my view of Journey.

    2. Nope.

    3. Agreed.

    1. I was surprised to see some agreement on this one myself.

    2. which AC/DC is song is your favorite?

     1. I have probably been Journey's biggest and harshest critic on this forum, but to say they have zero good songs, imo, is a bit ridiculous. Agree on Steve Perry, though.

    2. I wasn't aware they had a good song. News to me. A bunch of okay background noise songs but that's about it.

    3. Don't think you'd get much disagreement there at all. Not sure if I'd call it "great" but it's good for sure with some excellence on it.

    1. Which Journey songs do you think are good?

    2. Burnin" Alive is a great song as well, my second fav after The Razors Edge.

    3. I feel like the majority only have love for the first two, and you even said yourself you don't think it's great.

  11. A few of my unpopular opinions

    1. Journey have zero good songs; and Steve Perry vocally does nothing for me, bordering on annoying.

    2. AC/DC's best song is the title track from The Razors Edge.

    3. Skid Row's Subhuman Race is a great album. Wish we coulda got a couple more albums with this lineup.

    here are my unpopular opinions

    1. Operation Mindcrime is massively overrated and has 3 goods songs

    2. Rush are shit

    3. Tony Harnells voice is annoying

    4. Dio black Sabbath is the best

    5. Winger IV is their best album

    6. Threshold > Dream Theater

    1. Does Queensryche even have 3 good songs?

    2. I concur.

    3. not sure about annoying but I don't really care for TNT or any other thing he's been a part of.

    4. I concur in the sense that I can't stand Ozzy's vocals but I don't really like any Black Sabbath.

    5. Pull has some stronger individual songs but as an overall album IV might be their best.

    6. I concur, though Threshold focuses more on the melody side of things, so I've never really considered them a prog band in the true sense of the word.

  13. Guns N Roses is the only one that works for me.
