After all that preaching about how honest Retrospect Records are to their bands, I still don't understand the Sweet Teaze story??? I know the band very well (obviously) and you blatantly ripped them off. Your story about how good you are to bands doesn't win we over because I know the truth. All I can say is that I hope you have changed your ways and that will be good for everyone.

I think it's a laugh that you think you can win Warrant over while making CDR's! LOL!

I thank everyone for your input on this issue. Whether you buy from RR or not , it's nice to know that the work I put into the soundbytes is actually worth the effort.

Sounds like you are making small steps in the right direction, maybe the next step after the art-work boost is converting to silver pressed discs??.... And than I suppose natural progression would be distributors and advertising!! The future looks bright!! Wow, than you would be able to put Retorospect Records in the same league as Metal Mayhem, Perris Records, Kivel Records, etc.. now that's something to be proud of!!

Nice intereview, awesome band and 2 great releases. Question for you Sam - Why don't you sign them up for a brand new album?? I think that would be a great move for Retrospect Records!! When is the next Mariah Disc due out?? Looking forward to that one as most people say it is the best material the band ever wrote. Will it be silver pressed??

If it's the band that I'm thinking of, the least you can do is show the band some respect by silver pressing the disc. If you do, I will wish you all the best with it!! In my humble opinion, they will sell well over 1000 copies.

We are also announcing the signing on Monday of a band that you (Retrospect Records) have been talking to, no big deal just the band liked our terms on this occasion rather the Retrospect's. Each band that is approached by Suncity & Retrospect are faced with the dilemma of taking Retrospect's better royalty rate and a more quick fire release date or take Suncity's option of a 16 page booklet, liner notes, pictures, newly produced art-work, proper promotion, advertising and basically selling more units through our distributors. Even you have said it on many occasions that you only sell 50-100 units of most of your albums. Is that a fair evaluation Sam? I think it is.

I have always said well done when you release a good product ie. Mariah, Manila Thrills, etc one because I know the bands are getting paid and two because they are professionally silver pressed. Hey, I was great friends with Joe Dolan and I was even Retrospect Records's first ever customer.

Hello people,

I know it’s hard for people not to buy in on this conversion when Sam spits some of these ludicrous statements, but maybe the only way these bands will start seeing some money is if Sam keeps digging his own hole on these boards. I mean, what kind of record label bootlegs CDR’s and then once the band finds out and contacts the record label, they then start see royalties?? It’s what happened to Sweet Teaze and was going to happen to Smash L.A. until he was stopped. It’s a rogue operation and this illegal record company must be stopped from ripping bands off. The only reply I ever get from Sam is that I’m jealous of his (so called) record label or he brings up some rubbish about an old ebay account a used to have. Sam is the master of deception and changes the subject when he is backed into a corner. I just plays dumb when faced with a tough question. That’s why people get so frustrated.

It always amazes me that Sam's defense is "if other record labels can bootleg and rip off bands, well why then can't I do it"!! Haven't you ever heard of the term "2 wrongs don't make a right"??

How many royalties did Sweet Teaze see?? I could never be confident with Retrospect. Also the point that Heaven & Hell was making was that you don't mention it on your auctions that these bootlegs are CDR's!! That's not very honest, is it Sam?? How about some transparency?? And what gets up my goat the most, is that you're too gutless to even use your real name in these forums?? Using 80's Metal Collector, LUV KIX, etc.. and all these difference alias’s is so sly and un-professional.

One last thing, you say that you will only ever move 50-100 units of some of your titles, well maybe you should do some advertising, get some real distributors, spend more than 10 minutes on your art-work, put out a professional product like a real record label and push these bands more?? Give these albums a chance.

Either way, people will think that I'm just trying to bring down Retrospect because they are one of our competitors and others who know me personally know my passion for this music. There is no doubt that Sam will come back firing and I expect that. One thing I will say is that every self-respecting hard rock collector should have a copy of both Retrospect Records's Mariah CD's as well as the Manila Thrills album. Both sensational stuff and I've always congratulated Sam on those releases. It has got to make you wonder why I don't have a bad word to say about Metal Mayhem, Perris Records, Kivel Records, etc... They are all Suncity Records's competitors too!!

James, I am always amazed why you keep backing up a record label that releases 95% CDR's and has been known to bootleg other artists material without their permission. I know you love a great product and that you’re into great music, but what is your agenda?? You don't hear so much bad press about Suncity Records, Metal Mayhem, Kivel Records, MTM Music, Perris Records, Etc... Do you ever take the time to think that one of many people posting on Retrospect actually has a point? I won't accept the "because everyone is jealous of Retrospect" theory. Any average Joe can bootleg CDR's and sell them through ebay. Where is Retrospect’s distributors?? I also won’t accept AOR Heaven!! You know that these under ground bands can't really do much about their material being bootlegged unless they are willing to pay mega bucks for lawyers, court orders, etc... Sam is just treading on thin ice until he messes with the wrong band that is willing to go ahead and spend the money on legal action. I know for one, that Sweet Teaze hasn’t ruled out legal action. This is my last comment in this thread.

I respect you James, but am just bamboozled on your stand with Retrospect Records.

I few questions for LV KIX:

1. What bands have Retrospect got that I wanted?

2. Why are you defending someone that is selling illegal bootlegs and ripping the bands off?

3. Why do you think Sam took the Sweet Teaze CD off his website and ended his last auction early?

4. What would you do if you were very good friends with a band and you could see that they were getting ripped off?

P.S. I don't mind anyone knowing this, but the reason Suncity Records doesn't give out royalties as high as Retrospect Records is because a lot more money is spent in production on the CD, for example having silver pressed as well as graphic design. Also we spend a lot more money on promotion. We only have one goal and that is to please fans.

And I don't know where you get this thing about how it's a race to see who can releases the most CD's?? I suppose if I was playing that game, I could just do what Sam does and bootleg cheap CDR's behind the bands back, anyone could do that!!

P.P.S. I would love to talk to you more about this and I don't want to say to much more here considering this will be a matter for the court soon. Looks like the case is solved. Sam has taken the Sweet Teaze CD from his website. It makes you think how many of his artists are being ripped off?? It's not the first time Sam has taken CD's off his catalogue due to being proven a fraud and unfortunately it won't be his last!! This is an illegal operation and it must be stopped. How could anybody support this rouge operation let lone buy from him??

Another band that I stopped Sam from bootlegging and ripping off was a Canadian band, Smash L.A. which I have full contracts signed for the release of their self-titled album this year.

The reason 80'sMetalCollector, LV ZOE, and himself aren't replying to this thread is because they have been found out and he would also know that this thread is being monitored by Sweet Teaze's lawyers and anything that is said by them will be used in evidence.

Sam, stop your doggy tactics because this time you had messed with the wrong band!! I have got so many PM's the last day giving me your address in support of Sweet Teaze case, no-one likes it when you rip bands off and you are massing up so many Retrospect haters. There is a good dollar (and a lot of hard work) in running a legit record label but the record labels that get greedy and starts bootlegging artists hard work for their own gain will and MUST be brought to justice.

Anyone here loves the music you are releasing including myself and I also know that you have done the right thing by bands in the past, but why the need to be soooo greedy. Everyone wants to see you succeed with what you are doing when above-board because the music you release is quite simply kick arse!!

Once the band can find out his address, shit will hit the fan!! As people know he doesn't give out his address to anyone for obvious reasons!! I suppose that is the Las Vegas way!!!

I know the band members very well from Sweet Teaze and I also know that never was there any authorisation by any of the band members to have Retrospect Records release their Do It Till It Hurtz album. When I originally asked Sam who gave him authorisation, he said Matt Mathews. I am here to tell you that Matt will be posting a message in this thread within a week confirming my facts. This crap has got to stop!!! Sam has been caught out big time, this time. I wonder how he (and his mouth pieces) are going to defend himself here?? It is a real shame that he is ripping off this band because they are a great bunch of guys and they really don't deserve this!!!

I know that a court order is currently being prepared by the bands lawyers as we speak, so could this finish Sam, we'll have to wait and see!!

WOW!! What can I say. Looks like Sam has put a lot of time and effort into this release. Hats off to Sam and his team. I have heard the songs and yes, they are great too!!. All I can say to the fans is show your support for Sam's silver pressed disc's because we ALL want ALL of Retrospect Records's CD's to be SILVER PRESSED!!
